To offer shipping per variant you'll need to use a shipping app such as Better Shipping, or Shipping Rules. However, you can set this up in a free way by using weight-based rates. What you can do is create manual shipping options for those variants that require pickup. You can do this by setting up a weight-based shipping rate for those products. A weight-based rate would allow you to create a rule that over a certain order weight, the customer would be required to choose a 'Pickup' option for their rate. You can read about how to do that here: bit.ly/3R3mY7P. Try that out! -Rio

Why does Shopify have a box on the edit part of shipping that says: Use this package to calculate rates at checkout when this box actually should say "For calculated DEFAULT rates for all packages" . Because when you check this box, it adds on a default rate onto your shipping besides the actual rate and size. If a customer has a 2lb box and the default rate is for a 5 lb box then the customer is charged for a 7 lb box wrongly. I want to know how to just have the customer get the actual weight and not add on a default rate on top of that. We had a box that should have cost the customer $12 and it cost the customer $32. That is not right

Thanks for the context! Shipping will vary depending on where you are sourcing your products from, and where your customers are located. If your customers are in the US or Europe, consider using a dropshipping service like Spocket (bit.ly/3rd92N8) that sources their products from the US and Europe. If you're using AliExpress, you'll want to find suppliers that ship from the US.
