MY SCISSORS!!!!!
As a husband and mechanic this is The most underrated and relatable comment ever!!! Haha love it
😂
@@jacobgriffin2500 My gf has heavy duty gold colored shears that she uses for crafting and what not. One day I decided to use them cutting some chicken wings. We don't use her scissors anymore.
@@Will-ht9cp my wife has those crafting scissors too, they used to be sharp until I couldn't find my snips and I had to cut wire one day lol.
Nice bumper! Red Green would be proud!
One tip about cutting steel with an angle grinder: Don't try to cut all the way through in one pass. Lightly score the steel with the first pass, and then make repeated passes cutting a little deeper each time. Your cutoff wheels will last much longer, and that saves money!
i really like this, because this is how normal people would get it done.. not someone with a $150k dollars worth of tools and plasma tables etc... in a $250k shop....getting it done with cardboard and scrap plate.. love it
Job well done, I have watched many videos of bumper fabrication, you are the first I have seen fit the winch inside the grill very creative.😎
Your fab skills are definitely improving man, its great to see! Definitely better than the old go cart made from the bed frame lol. Keep it up man!
It always means so much when it's for someone you care about. It seems like it brings out the best in us.
Absolutely!
Looking good man!! I just picked up some 1/4" plate yesterday to make a winch bumper for my pathfinder, freakin stoked!
Right on!
Great work man, and you did it in the dirt!
This is insane good simple build very cool bumper that I have see probably. Congrats you are simply a artist my friend thank for sharing your knowledge you might get me inspired to build one myself. Thank you
Nice man! Love your energy!
My favorite part is the bush beer template. Hell yeah
Nice work!
Great job man.
Those light I beans are salvaged from a mobile home floor frame. Dandahermit
I don't know why the algorithm gods put this video upon me whilst on the john but I'm grateful, I had no desire to make a bumper, but now... seems like I have a pretty cool project ahead of me this weekend! 🤙🤙
Pretty neat! I used to use similar glasses to use with a cutoff wheel, until I got a metal shard in my eye. I have since switched to a full hood. Much better than the trip to the ER, and I think it actually is more comfortable to work with.
Oh I know, I've got a few slivers in the eye with glasses. Hood would defiantly be ideal
you guys don't use saftey squints?
Do you know where I can get the tiny hole saw that dr. Stranger would use to drill a hole in my eyeball to extract some tiny alien camera .
Maybe it was wood I'm not sure any one knows .
Amaizing 😍
Awesome work. Looks tough.
Love it!! Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great and Lovely work mate 👏
I also built my own one posted few weeks ago but differently
Excellent craftmanship.
Thanks!
Yahoo wonderful , I always wanted one like that , I am 76 and I will do that for my truck.
Always watch your vids, preventing me from selling my 99 runner, lol. Good work 👏
Thank you! I would keep it for sure!
Great job brother
You're on a whole-nutha-level bro!
I'm building an overlanding honda odyssey🤣 and repainting it with raptor liner. Might be something you'd like to consider for the 4runner 👍🏻
Thank you! The bumper will be texture coated when its done!
Looks good, once you grind the booger welds off and paint it, it'll look as good as any $1,000+ bumper out there. Love it
Awesome! Looks great!
Thanks!
definitely would've assumed you bought it. looks awesome man. If you get that painted it's going to look even better. I wish my wife let me do things like that to her ride. luck guy right there.
Great job man!
Thank you! Cheers!
I think i might make something like this for my 97 land cruiser prado. Swap it out for the factory one when i go offroad, and run the factory one the rest of the time
Took inspiration off this and basically piggy backed your idea. Don't have pictures to show. Thank you for the idea, cheers.
Good job AL BUNDY 😄😄
hey welder here, love the bumper, you should look into getting a MIG setup for these kind of projects. they go by much faster and you get cleaner welds
I MIG all the time, I decided to try stick on this just for fun to learn it.
Maybe a wire welder with flux core out in the wind like that... not with gas though! It'd be a booger-weld machine.
Excellent & Very Good 👌🏻😍
Looks awesome
Thank you!
What connecting rods do you recommend as an upgrade for a 5vz?
Machined 1uz H beams?
Hello, any plans or tips to build bumper for toyota land cruiser prado 2009/2011 ? Thank you
Bed frame angle iron may not be a bad idea to weld up to the inside of your bumper. It's something that I have planned for my build....
Nice work.. Amazing how much "upcycling" of metal gets used from the local dump..
What kind of hole you gonna cut in the front plate? Roller fairlead or rub lead?
Getting synthetic line, so rub lead. Don't have it yet, otherwise I would have cut it in already
Buy, beg, borrow or steal a table or bench to work on. Your future self will salute you.
you almost lost me when you said C.A.D. 😂
The bumper turned out great. Inexpensive too.
Thank you!
It would be difficult for me to build a bumper like that.. I prefer to lay it all out on the table. Put it together, paint it, then attach it and make it sturdy... af...This guy did a great job and he sourced all the materials for near nothing... even greater job.. keep at it and you'll have to buy a welding fab truck.... 😊..also, i have plans for my 98 sr5 4x4 2.7 ... 2JZ.. maybe?
I’d just cut out those two notched fins in the grill. It’d give it a nice finished look. That said, this is hands down the best, most realistic, and comprehensive bumper build I’ve seen to date. Excellent work.
I'm gonna wait and see what the actual winch is like in it, before I cut away the grill.
Love the video. I need to make a bumper for my gfs rodeo because she’s really asking me for one 😂
now it just needs some raptor liner!
eyecrometer! Ahha hilarious.
Bumper looks great. Better get those scissors ✂️ back to Mrs dirtgarage Pronto!
Haha! They are returned
Looks good to me. Make do with what you've got. 👍
Ooooooh is that a yamaha DT I see in the background??
Aye man good job like your style ! What’s the link on this exact welder I don’t want to get the wrong vevor! Keep it up buddy !
bit.ly/3osSr6v and added discount code in description!
I have the same grinder
Mint!!!!!!!!!!1
Shoulda just scribed the cut off line of corner piece shallow to just fold it and back weld it
1:43
NYOOOOOOOM
Try using atf mixed with acetone for cutting oil
Haha WD was just there and convenient
Aw man I was hoping for that first gen taco front on it looks so bitchen with the lines
If I was able to find a 1st gen taco front end I would have swapped it!
I have some of those exact same pieces of scrap metal that came off a modular home we were demolishing
I was told that's what they where from 🤣
@@DirtGarage the funny thing is that I was already planning on using them for a bumper on my 85 toyota! Seriously a crazy coincidence
Cover your radiator/t cooler when your welding so close to it.
Nah
Mighty fine 60$ bumper. You should make those "cad" templates put in them in a box and sell them for, I don't know $. I'll take one ;)
Since you started this 4Runner series it makes me want to fix up my second gen 4Runner and not sell it
Shop lion on the prowl at 1:44
Great looking bumper! Is that welder 120 or 240?
Both, I used it at 120 here though
You might want to cut out a hole in the bumper for your fairlead to let the winch line go thru ! Also why didn't you cover the lower part of the factory mount with some more metal pieces ? 🤔 you should also use cutting oil or motor oil instead of WD40 when you drill holes just a few ideas 💡
As mentioned its not done yet, gonna be lots more bracing added, also don't have the winch / fairlead yet, so I don't know where I want to put the holes for fairlead. WD was jus there and easy.
Look into primeweld and teach yourself how to tig. Ditch that stick welder. You'll Thank me
nice! looks post apocalyptic!
Thanks! It will be sanded down and painted. But for now the rustic look is neat haha
You out did me when you broke the scissors and cardboard out,
Still the best way to go,
A person saves a ton of money doing it yourself
Nice fabrication
Praying the incoming winch doesn't require more space to operate
lol the cat
Good work, but the welding amps should have been higher. I would have stuck with a process you already knew. It's really important to know your welds are good. Of this comes apart while winching, someone could get hurt.
The bumper looks good. I just question the quality of the welds.
I will subscribe and keep watching.
Fab on.
K.O.R.E.
Damn with that Mullet you are really growing stronger and becoming full form of guy-with-engines-in-his-front-yard lol. Not hating it's me too without cool hair 😛
Actually just took the motor out of my yard and brought it to dump last week! Haha
@@DirtGarage hahah must be to make room for another!
1:43 Cat spotted
does the 125 in the background run?
Yup! Ripped it apart and did a resto on it this spring, was my project before the 4Runner. Street legal 84 DT125.
@@DirtGarage i want a steel tank enduro so bad.
Really need to wear safety glasses when cutting or drilling and grinding!!!
Alternate video title: Installed fenders in 5 seconds
Only got 1 out of 8 bolts haha
🥇
looks good. but using wd40 for drilling holes, damages the drill ant takes longer time. get some real cut and cool fluid on the store, its is not expensive and you will notice the difference
Not dogging your build but... what are you gonna do with subframe that is sticking out?
It's just the factory bumper brace thing, gonna cut it out, and make a piece to match up to skidplate.
@@DirtGarage cool thanks! Done right and you could get a kinda prerunner look to it. 👍
Where is Julian and Bubbles?
You know the rules...you weld on youtube...ya have to show close up of the finished bead...LOL Nice design!!!
Haha, I'll pass. Definitely needs a little grinding! Maybe when I get more comfortable with the stick, if I chose to use it again. I think I like MIG more..
@@DirtGarage I just replaced a cheap mig with a cheap mig from harbor fright $215. Light weight 15lbs, good control of watts and wire speed, titanium brand...Lays a nice bead and Im the worlds worst welder....I do find that wire brand is important....harbor frieghts wire is not great, maybe dirty? Lincoln is best get it at home depot. Keep the vids coming, love your enthusiasm.....
Also I like you hate the wheel of death grinder...When I have to make a long straight cut I prefer a skill saw (circular saw) with a metal blade...much safer and can get a straighter cut....
No one gonna consider the random cat? 🤣
The black cat was for good luck. Black cats are always good luck in spite of what has been said about them by some.
👍👊
If you don’t paint that lol
your headlights do not like it when you weld near them.
Nah, they are fine
That is gonna block the air flow to the radiator of an infamous overheating engine. Bad idea . Dandahermit
Nope! Lots of airflow. I've also used much smaller rads with no shroud in 3.4 swaps in other vehicles. 3.4s don't have a overheating issue.
Poor Toyota
You are totally blocking all the possible air flow to your radiator.
Now just add some spikes to the front
