- Selling on Poshmark is time consuming. I have so many nice clothes to get rid of so I decided to sell my clothes to multiple Plato's Closets (& even a Clothes Mentor & Style Encore) to clear my closet and make some cash quick. It totally worked and I made over $400!
In this video, I take you along with me and show you what sold and give you tips to get the most money at Plato's Closet. This is a must watch video if you are looking to clean out your closet and get the most bang for your buck!

A big tip is to call your local Plato's closet and ask them what are they looking to buy right now. The one I called told me

Thanks for this video! I took a bunch of stuff to uptown cheapskate and they barely took anything but also gave me like no money and I was discouraged but now I'm excited to go to Planos closet and see if they will take the rest 😂

I really appreciate these videos ! They don’t accept super high end brands like Versace , Vera want, u got to think teeny bopper brands lol
However it’s a good thing they have style encore for more upscale women’s fashion.

Im heading out today in Charlotte, NC to all of these exact locations in hopes to sell my closet! I have tons of stuff and I am hoping theyll take quite a bit. Im nervous because all 3 locations said they had a large women's inventory. Fingers crossed! I willhave to update you later when i am done.

I agree that Plato’s Closet doesn’t make a whole lot of sense with what they take and don’t. The Adidas crop is so cute! I feel like Lulu’s NWT always sells really well on Poshmark

Hey from Charlotte,NC!!! Which locations in Charlotte would you recommend being the best buyers?? I’m a reseller and I’m wanting to take my whole inventory of clothes and shoes in the hopefully make some money back (I’m not reselling much anymore these days, family issues) any tips would be greatly appreciated
Omg hi! It’s always great to meet someone in Charlotte☀️ I have a more recent Plato’s vlog where I essentially did the same experiment but with my friend’s clothes. In that one, I created a chart at the end showing the # of items sold, $ earned, and $/item breakdown per location. I sold and earned the most (not per item but overall) at Clothes Mentor in the Arboretum so definitely go there! There’s a ton to do in the area while you wait but keep in mind they only take women’s clothing and last time I was there they had a one container maximum. I also typically do well in Gastonia and Huntersville. Another option is Thrift Pony in Plaza Midwood! They do consignment and take a lot of unique, funky, vintage items that the cash for clothes spots don’t target. I hope this helps🤗
Finding this video was like discovering gold! ✨ I live in Concord and have been reselling on PM and depop for about one year. Now that I’ve learned over this year what buyers want and don’t want, I’m ready to say bye to my stale inventory. it seems as if they have a cap on how many items they will even take from you. not once did they take more than 15 items.
Yeah, I definitely think they just take what they feel is the “best” of your items!
O have taken the same bag of vlothes back to the same store that next day and they've taken the stuff that they declined the day before

Do Old Navy, Gap, and target brand do all there?
In my experience, yes! I took stuff from Old Navy and Target and they bought it.
NO. They would not take any of my practically brand-new GAP or Levi.
I literally just dropped off a bunch of Ralph Lauren shirts like men’s button up dress shirts, probably like 20, like two pairs of jeans, and three pairs of basically brand new expensive shoes. They are very busy so they’re going to text me with a price I guess I’m very curious.

@@withlovesavana thanks! I mean every shirt is about at least minimum $75 from Macy’s or Dillards and I probably gave them like 15 of the button up shirts. I mean I know they are more desperate for men’s stuff so hopefully I get like over 100 I’m hoping. I definitely should’ve went on a weekday though lol they had so many clothes but all my clothes were like in mint condition barely worn. I’ll respond and let you know how much they gave me.

I totally get that! I got so nervous each time too but it’s soo worth it! I recommend taking someone with you because then it’s less “embarrassing.” I’ve always had luck with Plato’s but there’s this place called Uptown Cheapskate and they didn’t want anything from that initial lot so avoid them if you have one near you 😂

You’re welcome!! Yeah 10/10 don’t recommend. I tried a few years ago and they didn’t take anything. This year, I took everything from this video there first (to a different location) and they wanted to buy a North Face jacket and Kate Spade purse (that I later sold on Poshmark for $85) for $20😅

Hi! I don’t know the official answer to this as I’m not a tax professional. I do know that Plato’s doesn’t provide you with a 1099 so you would have to report it yourself. I recommend talking with your tax advisor for how to handle it. 🫶🏻
You can get more from a tax write-off by donating vs. selling to Plato's closet
Yes, if you took itemized deductions you definitely could! You could also do a combo with what doesn’t sell. Thanks for watching😊
you can only write off the fair market value of a donated item, or the original price paid whichever is lower. So a write off or equal value would be worth less than the full cash trade-in.
Platos is a joke, brought in rhude shorts, fog mainline items, yeezys & they offered to take all of it for $32 lmaoo

You might’ve been paid $300 plus. But factor in your coffees, gas, and wear and tear on your vehicle.
Yes, that’s a distinction between revenue and profit! However, since I would’ve gone to a coffee shop to edit my vlogs anyways (what I did while I was waiting), I think it was a great way to multi-task! It was wonderful editing, getting tons of clothes out of my closet, and getting paid for it all at the same time. 😊 Thanks for watching!
