Amazing you could get so close. I visited years ago, in winter, and I don't think we were allowed anywhere near the structure.

The first time I visited Stonehenge was in 2008, and indeed, you aren't allowed anywhere near the stones. Only during the Summer Solstice can you actually enter the site. The only downside is the number of people, but I suppose that's unavoidable.
