Great tips. I've been using this method for a long time and with little practice you can nailed it. But I use it mostly on raid bosses, on regular throws I use the skip animation run trick.
Thank you so much! I'm a new player, only started at the end of July. I was doing the "L-shaped" technique with mixed results, and this has been working so much better for me. Only been doing it for a few days but I hope I get that excellent curve ball field research ticked off soon!

If you have a phone that can do split screen it's very easy - and I only hit lucky excellent throws.

I can reach to great throws consistently, but I still struggle with excellent throws. It's mostly matter of practice and patience

I dont curve ball often, but have had some excellent curveball throws. Nice video. I have tried that way it is not for me. I just move to the right and throw to the left while spinning the pokeball in a sitting circle.
I've watched all ur excellent throw videos. Helped me try my on method to it. I am terrible with close and low to the ground pokemon like Natu. Who I in shiny form pokemon gods!!!

Oddly enough there's a graveyard by my house with close to 40 pokestops.

I try to size down the circle, and do the same motions, but ismt really working.
do you wait for the pokemon to do a taunt? because i think you have to the ball back up when it does the taunt and throw it before the circle appears again
You just need to keep trying and eventually you will get the hang of it

Does this only work from the left side I am level 38 and I get a lot of nice and great throws and an occasional excellent but I have always threw from the right side.

This will be useful to me on the Celebi Challenge
I feel like the think about setting the circle first isn't correct. When I do that.. as soon as I touch the ball to throw it the circle starts moving again. It even seems like when I touch the ball the circle isn't in the same spot when I stopped it implying it actually keeps changing regardless of if you "set" it first. Maybe it freezes when they taunt so that is what makes the difference.
ill like it after im done with this comment.......what about the pokemon that are really close to the screen like ho-oh for example? i couldnt get an exxelent throw but i got many great throws on it and i dont have ar available on my phone..just thought id ask
Looks so easy when you do it :P When i saw that, i was trying it at raid bosses, when that went very well, i did do that on regulair pokemon aswell. But not eavry pokemon is easy for an Excellent Curveball Throw
You need to throw that very far. Even with Lapras, when i play it on the iPhone i mostly swing my finger until the middle right (and over the cover of the phone xD)
Most difficult are the small pokemon or the pokemon that are standing close to you. And then you have the newer dragons like Rayquaza and Latios

My circle keeps resetting when I go to throw even if I wait for it to taunt just cant get an excellent throw

Does speed make a difference?
I'm a left handed who throws from the left side of the screen, so my technique is slightly different, though I should be better at my excellent throws but I struggle with the first part, I just have to spin keep spinning the ball and just hope for the best. I'd say I have a higher chance of throwing an excellent curve ball than a straight ball, I can't throw a regular non-curveball to save my life.
I’m left-handed, and I can get a regular curveball, a nice one, and a great one all day, but I cannot get an excellent no matter what.

I’m honestly trying but do not see the reason for releasing the ball after “sizing down the circle.” The ‘mons will still taunt if you’re spinning the ball and the circle keeps going down once you touch the ball again...

This is really hard for me to pull off, the pokemon always seem to deflect my ball qhen i'm throwing it, and if i wait a bit more, the circle changes size really quick.
You’re throwing it too late, doing this is easy if you’re just not making yourself confused.
So since I'm left handed I have to use my right hand instead ?

I have a personal challenge to throw excellents on every Pokemon that are available in the wild

Sizing down the circle doesn’t work for me. Ether it’s been patched it there’s a mistake.
You size down the ball until the circle is small enough,
But when you retouch it to circle and throw, enough time has passed to where it’s no longer an excellent.

It doesnt work for u but it works for people who pays attention
If only you just spun the ball once or twice and threw it, then it automatically curves and hits the middle of the pokemon circle. That would make it easy at least.
How can I get a ditto
You don’t have to spin the ball nore than once to register a curve. I’m a lefty, so throw like you’re writing a backward 6 in one smooth motion. You get better timing. If you’re a righty I would imagine it’s like writing a regular 6. But no spin. Just write out the number and it’s a curve. For ho-oh and lugia, it’s a little different. Start with your 6, or backward 6, and end straight up the middle screen. I throw excellent on ho and lugia all day long. Also, have to set the circle first. Good video flow.
FLW Videos we all have our superstitions and methods to madness! Do what works for your throw! As long as it registers as a curve, that brings the xp home. I wish I could show I how throw for ho or lugia. I’ve taught so many in my area and they now have a nearly perfect catch rate!
FLW Videos straight at it and oddly straight up! But it makes excellents! The flying type are the only odd balls. Ground isn’t to bad. In my opinion.

different pokemon may have different distance.
from close to mid to far
the closer they are. obviously. the less spin u do.
for eg. pidgey. rattata castform. they are very close.
hondour oddish bulbsur ralts etc. they are mid.
shuppet pidgeot gastly. are far.
something like that. once u throw enough n encounter enough. you will understand.
I just critical hit a tyranitar (raid).

Why do you have to size down the circle?
To make an excellent throw, cause if the size of the circle is big, it will only make a “Nice” and “Great”. Arent you paying attention?

tried this method... missed 10 pokeballs in a row throwing it exactly how you said... it doesnt work... i have to curve mine way farther out for it to even get to the medium to far range pokemon....
