  • I'm this video, I'll demonstrate how to thread the Singer 128 sewing machine. Did you know that the Singer 127 and Singer 128 are the same machine, just different sizes? You can follow this video for both machines. Watch me wind the bobbin, thread the shuttle (bobbin case), thread the machine. Also I'll show you how to attach the knee lever bar.

I already have a working Singer 201 inherited from my Mother and also two modern machines, but on walking past a gate where a 128 had been abandoned with a “Free - Take Me” sign, I couldn’t just walk on. It seems criminal to just leave it there so I brought it home with me as a project to see if I can get it working. Even if I am successful, I think they are beautiful machines to look at, so I’m happy either way!!

Thank you!!! The bobbin reloading video just kept me on a project instead of trying to buy one pre-threaded and having to wait. I’ll check the oiling one next to keep it purring, I got a 1929 singer 128 for my paintball apparel and gear company. Slides over denim with ease and looks insane rethreading the bobbin, like futuristic sci-fi from a 93 year old machine.

Tension is adjusted though 2 adjustments the tension disc on the front of the machine (as seen here czcams.com/video/VVA0Tv7ZeOY/video.html) and the bobbin case itself. You work to find the balance of when the thread locks in the fabric is does not pull the bobbin thread though or the top thread down.
