  • The capitalist state, that is in essence the police, army, courts, and prisons, is a weapon of the ruling class used against the rest of us. In this talk, Olivia Ruadh will explore how the state developed, how it is maintained, and how to fight against it.

For the first 17 minutes of this talk it restates the revolutionary Marxist position on the state and is very theorectically impressive in its understanding of Marxism. It would be a major mistake to overestimate the capitalist power. Millions of workers; sizable middle class layers; and oppressed can influence major events as you mention the impact of the Women and Black live matter movements. Trotsky said every regime serves capital outside of a revolutionary force or a workers' state. They serve it through representing different sectional interests or different social base among Aristocracy; capitalists; middle class; working class; and lumpen Proletariat. In the history of the Russian Revolution Trotsky argued the battles in the ruling class over different sectional interests or how to rule confirms the Marxist analysis of battles between classes and within classes. It is one thing to correctly attack the reformists who do not see the rule of capital in the bourgeois state. and adapt to their power. Ultra-lefts downplay how the ruling class maintains their rule by making concessions to stop mass unrest threatening their rule,

It serves all of us; rich and poor alike. Look at the hunt for Shannon Matthews.

@@lochnessmunster1189 occasionally it does do that, I agree, but much more often it is all about hate and oppression of the masses esp POC and the poor and LGBTQs.
