  • Entebbe International Airport: Entebbe International Airport is renowned for the 1976 Operation Entebbe, a daring rescue mission by Israeli commandos to free hostages from a hijacked Air France plane. The airport is situated on the shores of Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa, providing travelers with stunning views upon arrival and departure.
The airport boasts the longest runway in Uganda, measuring 3,658 meters (12,000 feet), which can accommodate large, long-haul aircraft. Given its proximity to Lake Victoria and the nearby Entebbe Botanical Gardens, passengers occasionally spot a variety of birds and even monkeys around the airport. Entebbe International Airport was the first airport in Uganda to handle commercial flights, cementing its role as the gateway to the country. The airport serves as a hub for tourists visiting Uganda’s famous national parks, including Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas.
