There will also be a vs mode Where you can select a team of heroes vs zombie heroes. Not sure how balance will be but interested in trying it out.

Great Video! I also picked up Marvel Zombies: Heroes' Resistance, the smaller Barnes & Noble version they put out. It's out and I've played it a few times and it's really good as well. It's funny for this "smaller" version (I paid $35) they really pack a bunch of stuff in a small box. I highly suggest getting. It's lots of fun.

Several months till we get this here. We made mistake of getting Invaders (space one) and not bought a Zombiecide since it was so disappointing. But this had us interested, mostly cause that Xmen resistance version. So backed for that, which is sent to backers in late summer.

Hey, nice vid! I wonder where would you rank Cthulhu among those? Keep it up, cheers!

Do you mean "Death May Die"? I'd probably put that above all the Zombicide games honestly. I actually prefer Bloodborne to Death May Die... but I'm also weird.. I don't think many people would take that angle :)

Im wrestling on whether to sell off my zombicide Dead West edition or this one wheb it arrives. Im not sure its realistic to keep both in a collection.

I have a love/hate relationship with Zombicide. I own Invade, Western and Green horde. I love the miniatures and the idea of the game, however I rarely finish a game and get bored shifting tons of miniatures on and off the board every round. The latter stages of the game seem to involve in merely moving one square per round with all 6 characters usually squsihed into one space. Then a couple of ‘extra activation’ spawn cards usually kills you off out of the blue…. Ha I g said that I love the minis and use them for other miniature games (Core Space, rangers of shadow deep etc).
I do agree that I prefer Green Horde over Black Plague, that isn’t a popular opinion but I found Black Plague very basic, whereas the water and hedges mechanics in GH just make it far more interesting 👍

Ya Green Horde I put right behind this one, unless I count Massive Darkness 2 as a "Zombicide" game.

My fav zombicide gameplay. My fav zombicide scenario is night of living dead movie mode. Love Mass Darkness 2 even more. Cthulhu death me die is the best. Great review sir

I really enjoyed Black Plague, and even picked up the expansion for it, but after having played a lot of other games and seen how games have been evolving, it was really difficult to go back and play. There's something to be said about dumb-fun kinds of games (kind of like dumb-fun movies) and they certainly have a place, but it just lacks complexity and any real thought into what you're doing.
I guess I'm just glad that the formula is being worked on and that there are interesting choices that you have to make while you're playing the game. Granted, I was DONE with kickstarter when this launched (I haven't been BURNED yet, but one of them might still not deliver [Hyperspace]and I backed Darkest Dungeon so...)

Totally agree. I was very unimpressed by this game, it felt even less refined than the original zombicide.

The Hero-version isn’t quite a mirror, but it’s similar. Rank and file zombies go after Bystanders and you need to save them. Instead of Hunger, players have a Power track which is a more conventional resource that builds 1/turn + 2/action you choose to spend. That Power is used to fuel certain player abilities and the one-use trait cards. In general, I would say the Zombie Hero version is more unique with the push-pull of the Hunger track, but if you like one you’ll probably like both.
As I said in response to the other comment, I feel the mass market Hero box is too light on components and is bland as a result. The X-Men one should be much more enjoyable.

Sounds fun. Definitely will be looking for the X-Men box then. Thanks!

Thanks for the review! Unrelated to Marvel Zombies, could you tell me what types of shelves you have?

Good question. I'm not sure. I bought them from an Office Max going out of business several years ago.

Thank you for this video! I was curious about how this worked mechanically. When this was announced I immediately knew this was not for me. I don't like zombies, I love Marvel heroes, and seeing very bad things happen to them is the opposite of fun to me. I'm glad they're doing interesting things mechanically with the game though! Invader/Dark Side is my favorite game in the system and I recommend you check it out. They're not really zombies and the concentrated fire rules are a lot more interesting than tracking down items to take down abominations.

the X-Men resistance IS standalone. So if someone were to only get that box they'd still be fine.
And if they got both boxes, they'd bash them together and instantly double to value of their boxes (since all supers and zombie supers can be used in both games) ... which is why i backed the kickstarter and subsequently got screwed with the cmon shipping fiasco.

    • @PRC533
      @PRC533 Před rokem

I feel like that shipping hit may actually have effected my enjoyment of the game. I regret paying for two wave shipping even more since I just don't care for the gameplay of Marvel Zombies.

@@PRC533 take solace in the fact that the ip on the game will make it carry its value. You can probably make a tidy profit if you sell.
