If you want another nice tonal shift, thread a cut guitar string between the normal string of your guitar near the bridge, you should do it near the bridge so it doesn't fuck up your intonation. It sounds really nice on electric, and works on an acoustic too. Sounds like a music box if you use a capo really high up. You can kinda get a sitar/that indian drone instrument I can't remember the name of.
Flatwounds and muting. As a bass player I am just kinda like…. Duh? Great video none the less and I always enjoy watching someone just nerd out with a new setup concept. Your videos just always have an honest excitement about what you are presenting.
that open B riff reminds me of an old ZAO song - the dreams that don’t come true. Love this tone. I feel like I’ve heard beck use this tone, maybe broken social scene as well? Dig it!

When I was 17-18, not knowing how to play I bought my first guitar, a 330-ish cheap clone hollow-body with a floating bridge, from a classmate, and apart from learning my first chords (as soon as I knew Am, Em, Dm, C and G I wrote my first song) this kind of fiddling around with rubberbands etc was my main activity on the guitar. Or putting a headphone on the body for feedback.
The sound is very interesting. But what I really enjoy here is your playing. That's some beautiful guitar music right there. Very present and "vibey." Many "shredders" (always hated that term since it requires so much delicacy, nuance, and sensitivity) really appreciate those things even more than technical ability. No matter the level of speed, precision, or complexity of theory, the vibe and the feel are where it's at. _Music is a communication, not a competition._ Just saying, as guitarists we all have far more in common than not.❤🌍🌎🌏
Thing is, all that nuance IS technical skill. There are 'shredders' out there very capable of expressive playing, Govan, Kotzen, and Gilbert come to mind right away, I call those that don't shred-brained. They have tunnel vision, hyper focused on developing single skill to the exclusion of all others.
I don't like music or pedal guitars all that much, but I can't get enough of Josh videos. Though he is younger than me, I feel like maybe he has been my father in a lot of our past lives together. It's comforting how he plays the rubber string guitar for us today. Thanks JHS for hiring Josh!
I've met Jack maybe twice through mututal friends, and while we don't personally know each other, I'd like to personally vouch for his work. Amazing person with an even more amazing passion for guitars and music that led me here. I appreciate both of you more than I can ever say.

They specialize in vintage dollar store guitars (Teisco, Kent, harmony, silvertone, ect.), rubber Bridge guitars, and lots of funky lawsuit guitars. Quality guitars with interesting stories.
I really think you’re reading your own prejudices about small business into the earlier comment your throwing shade at. Try looking up the actual definition of a small business. The SBA defines a small musical instrument and supply retail business as any such business with an annual revenue of $12M or less. So being called a small music business is hardly any reason to condider it denigrating. Depending on the industry, “small” for business loan and grant purposes means an annual income between 1M and $40M and anywhere from less than 100 up to as many as 1500 employees on your payroll.
@theseaward4613 I'm in the shop regularly and close friends with Jack himself. It's a small business because it's owned by one guy and there's only one location. Which is in a strip mall it's the same size as a Pottery painting studio, and he's absolutely not doing 12 million in revenue a year. So by all qualifications, he's a small business.
