The area (also known as Moreas or Morias) is the largest peninsula in Greece and one of the nine geographic regions. A historic cradle of Hellenism has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The Peloponnese is divided into seven administrative districts (Achaia, Ilia, Messinia, Arkadia, Lakonia, Argolis and Corinth.

Sailing the Peloponnese is far more rich with lush greenery and mountains dipping down into the sea vs. her popular Cyclades and Saronic islands which are exposed to the Meltemi winds in the summer. They tend to be more rocky and arid - however, the villages are full life. Sailing out of Nafpion after the annual charter yacht show - we sailed on two fully crewed catamarans in tandem visiting: Spetses Harbor with the stunning Poseidonion Grand Hotel and the fragrant aroma of pine trees, Kyparissa, where we had morning yoga on the beach, Monemvasia (the sacred rock) a walk into the past, Dokas is inhabited by goats, sheep, turkeys and a small family, Hydra where only donkeys and cats roam the streets in unison with the people, Poros (one of my favorites) has it's fisherman's waterfront, where you can get see your fresh octopus being grilled at the tavernas/restaurants along the quay, and then to Athens. It was a real eye opener for us all who sell the Myth of yachting in Greece. Peloponnese offers everything for your all your senses!
