Make It Happen: Susana Rivera's Inspiring Journey in STEM | Conectadas by IYF

Meet Susana Rivera, a trailblazer in Conectadas by IYF's "Make It Happen" campaign, supported by Google.org. This short documentary shares Susana's journey, showcasing her motivations and challenges as she pursues a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), breaking down gender stereotypes in her community and profession.
Susana, a 25-year-old from Atizapán de Zaragoza, Estado de México, is a graduate of the first Conectadas cohort for the IT Support Certification, having completed the program in April 2022. Facing financial hardships that forced her to pause her university studies, Susana saw Conectadas as a chance to reconnect with her passion for information technology. Through the program, she gained practical skills, regained her confidence, and found the motivation to resume her studies in computational systems engineering at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, where she will graduate in 2025.
Susana is now a backend developer and ambassador for Tecnolochicas by Fundación Televisa and Bécalas. She teaches STEM to middle and high school girls, inspiring them to join the tech fields. Her goal is to work for a company where she can grow personally and professionally, applying her data analysis skills to make a positive impact on the world.
