    Have done this hike in the opposite direction, where I when up Yellow Rock and then finished coming out through the Hackberry Narrows. Love this area. Thanks for sharing.

      Cool. I'm glad I took the Yellow Rock "high route" in hindsight as originally I was going to go back down to the Paria via Snake or Hogeye. It's such a good/peaceful area up there. Thanks for watching!

    "Not too hard though, it was a gentle fall." That's how I want the rest of my life to be, one long gentle fall.
    The first time you said "Molly's nipple!" I thought, did he really just say Molly's nipple? Yes, yes he did." After the second time you said it, and during all your subsequent slow pans across the horizon, I'd say to myself, "I wonder if Jamal's gonna say..and you'd yell, "Molly's nipple!!" right before I'd be able to finish the thought. I counted four times. It's an aggressive yet glorious nipple, to be sure.
    Lovely hike as always, thanks for sharing this!

      Yeah... I admit I have a bit of a thing for Mollie's Nipple! :) But... at least I don't "sing" about it like I used to in my previous videos (czcams.com/video/udJzbgea6IA/video.html). Thanks for watching!

    I thoroughly enjoy your work. I have spent so much time in that area since 2010, and reading/retracing Kelsey. The ground you cover is so broken and unforgiving and some of the most beautiful in the world. I like the way you understate the challenges having faced some of them myself and getting a little too long in the tooth to take them on much longer. Hackberry is one I have always wanted to do having been above on yellow rock and ventured in through the narrows. Loved the video. True for all of yours. I have found new disdain for Mylar balloons and rotting cattle carcasses.

      Thanks so much, Vern. I appreciate the comment. It's tough at times finding that balance of conveying the difficulty of my hikes. For the most part what I do isn't "technically" difficult (ie climbing/scrambling), but the skills of route-finding and water management are essential. Cheers!

    That's a cool loop few probably do. I liked the views of Pariah- and the angular butte I recognized. Convoluted landscape- can be dangerous for you if you get cut off. Tiring. Went up Hackberry with my pup at the time - 2012. This is one place I wish to return to (and backpack). The same thing happened to Cottonwood Rd when we were there. Saw Pollack Arch on the topo, but didn't get to it, huge square looking arch- neat. Now I know one way there 😬, though there is probably a more direct route.

    • @Acrossutah
      @Acrossutah  Před rokem +1

      Yeah -- it's a good area to explore, though many routes are not direct so it takes some "wandering" -- but that can be fun. Thanks for watching! 🌞✌

It's always the same: Jamal has a new movie out .. it's sunday .. whole family assembles at the living room table for breakfast and everybody is watching your newest adventure. And everytime you end up on a ledge with no way going further I hold my breath. Thanks for taking us with you. Greetings from Germany. Hope I can get back soon.

    Love your videos cause I only get to Utah once every five years or so. Have you ever had a broken leg or badly sprained ankle? What would you do if you were many miles over rough terrain from people? Do you have a Sat phone? Have you seen "127 hours"? If not, don't watch it! ☺

    • @Acrossutah
      @Acrossutah  Před 4 lety

      Thanks for watching and the questions. I've twisted my knee twice on hikes, but nothing worse than that. I do carry a SAT messenger -- but even those have limited service in deep canyons. The most important thing to do while hiking solo is to make sure others know your itinerary and have agreed upon check-in points. That was Ralston's big mistake (as seen in 127 Hrs.) BTW -- he is a friend of a friend and spoke with my mom's students back in the day about his accident. He's a friendly/smart guy -- just made a bad decision not telling anyone where he was headed that day. Cheers!

    Hi Jamal! I have met you once on the beginning of one of your trips thru Zion...I am rediscovering your You Tube channel and it's so great! Tell me, how do you have the video following you as you walk by? Isn't it a selfie?

    • @Acrossutah
      @Acrossutah  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello Again! The "follow" shot is done with a 360-degree camera where I'm able to adjust the POV while editing the video. The quality isn't as high as a normal camera, but I really love the effect. BTW -- I still follow the RRH group hoping to someday join in a hike if I'm in that area with time to spare. Thanks for watching!
