There will never be another anime like Gurren Laggan, it stands at the peak as one of the best, and is literally untouchable and unbreakable.
The only anime that could come close is Gunbuster 3 if that ever comes out
F agreed about the analogy with Gunbuster 3
the one thing that really makes me so excitingly scared is how Hiroyuki Imaishi, the creator of gurren lagann,
you can have him create anything and I mean anything, and he'll make the dumbest or silliest things meaningful or full of fun
a film of an exciting prison escape thriller(Dead Leaves)
an anime about willing to love yourself no matter what people think of your body even if it's embarrassing(KLK)
an anime about appreciating experiences that are valuable, still valuable even if it's briefly or a glimpse(SPL)
out of all of his works, I always get the impression that Imaishi after he was finished with Dead Leaves, decided to crank up his game to the max, to reach peak SOOO early. And I truly believe that none of his upcoming works will ever surpass Gurren Lagann, and you know what, that's okay, and idgaf what kind of stuff he does, cuz I'm looking forward to whatever the hell kind of dumb fun he makes(as someone whose been watching almost all of his works).
Gurren Lagann is truly, the anime of all time, the peak of all time, the moon that shines bright until the night arrives

It's incredible how a song (or a single verse) can turn my energy on.
Amazing anime, amazing song.
Also, I've finished my third Gurren Lagann rewatch yesterday and I noticed how I perceived all the feelings of the characters and their choices thought the story differently from the first two times. Why? Because I've watched this anime for the first time when I was 14, then at 16/17 and now at 22. It hurts differently because I've grown up and matured during adolescence and what I've considered superficial or lame due to my immaturity and my youth now has gained a pretty deep meaning to me and has left something to think about and, most importantly, to learn from.
Pretty sure I'll do a rewatch in 3 years or so, I'm sure I'll find out some more to learn.
If you haven't already watched Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, I really suggest you to watch it as soon as possible.
I’m with you here buddy. I always come back to this track for the same reasons as you do. I’m 34 now and I’ve only been able to share this anime with one other person in my life time prior to this year. I’ve rewatched this anime twice this year already and one time was for the 15th anniversary, and for the other time I was finally able to convince my girlfriend to watch it. The best part is that my girlfriend and her middle sister and her boyfriend joined in. Now I don’t know if they consider it their favorite anime, I get it. But they have said how much they appreciate having watched it finally and it has easily become one of their top animes they’ve experienced. They cried, laughed, and reacted in every way and moment that I hoped they would. We even went to Fanime this year and we got ourselves the flag of team Dai Gurren!! Gurren Lagann will and does live on. Kamina lives on. In our hearts and on our backs. Gurren Lagann will always manage to find a way to pierce the heavens!! And I will forever claim that TTGL is MY favorite work of anime of all time!!

Idk why but as of late I am feeling kinda unwell, hard to put into words why or how, since everything seems to be normal and going pretty well actually but I just feel more "off" from day to day.

In case anyone’s wondering, the Latin is almost word for word a traditional Catholic prayer for the dead.
Ties into Simon's speech about the dreams of those that went before and the hopes of those following. A double helix. A drill to pierce the heavens!
Would make sense. Deliverance from Death and God being associate with fire are both very Christian elements.

I had a great pleasure to see this song live at Iwasaki Taku's concert in Tokyo. It was the last song of the show. The rapper had a fake glowing drill that imitated the one from anime. At first a dim light was set only on him, standing in the middle of the stage with Taku playing on the side. The drill was glowing while we listened to the rapper. And then, suddenly when the opera part started, a strong light was set way above the stage. For a whole concert I didn't even notice that there is a balcony above and now, a real opera singer in full dress appeared there live singing this awesome song. I still can't forget this sensation.

My girlfriend said to me "these lyrics don't go together"
But that's kind of the point. Do the impossible, girl.
See the invisible
Row row, fight the power.
The whole point is that the opera portion represents the antispiral, basically how they act godly and are punishing the spiral life forms, and the rap portion is (if you think about it) just kamina’s voice which is telling team guren that they have to fight back against the antispiral, and not giving up. It captures the whole show, how at the beginning it was the spirals whoich the audience knew, and they were going strong (refers to volume) but then you hear the antispirals (opera) and it’s much louder, then your see the difference in power. But then as the song progresses you see the voice of “ row row fight the power” get louder consistently, showing how they’re rising up, and at the end the opera ceases and you hear one last “fight the power”. This shows the spirals beating the antispirals

This is all the therapy I need.
"Libera me from Hell" consists of two very distinct music pieces: Opera and rap. Opera is a very somber and traditionally tragic genre, with themes usually centered around inevitability of fate and human mortality. Opera is supposed to make you experience catharsis and accept whatever painful truth it is trying to convey
Rap is different. *Very different* . It's fundamentaly a rebellious genre, very energetic and defiant of traditions and norms. One of the main themes explored in rap is willpower and how it can overcome pretty much any obstacle that can possibly rise in your way.
"Libera me from Hell" takes this genres and makes them fight to the death. Throughout the whole song rap - symbol of human will, determination and the power of the spiral - struggles against Opera - symbol of fate, depression, stagnation and anti-spiral. At times rap is almost completely drowned by the Opera, only for it to gloriously re-emerge and silence it's opponent.
This might be the best symbolism in anime music I've ever heard in my life
It's great to know that this hot-blooded super robot anime can still draw in intelligent folks like you and me. Too often in animes like this, the smart guy gives up way too early and gives the rest of us a bad name.

Kurokage The Scrub Absolutely right. I'm about to rewatch it for the nth time
Gurren lagann fans never die
i still don't like what happens after they defeat the antispirals. but i still love the series
Me neither (but Viral still hot ;))
YAY i am not alone! why you didn't like the ending?
"I ain't saying no showy crap like, 'later, buddy.'"

+WINston Freeman KING KITTAN IS STILL HERE!
the fact that you only really ever hear “Do the impossible, see the invisible” right before someone sacrifices themselves for DaiGurreb makes the song that much more bittersweet
Things have been going really bad for me recently. For a year I’ve been struggling with a lot of problems and life just hasn’t felt comfortable or easy in any way. I’m not here to say what I’ve gone through is worse than anything, but gosh it’s probably the worse I’ve been through in my entire life and I can feel as if I’m the only one who knows this pain. But when I listen to this song, it brings me back to that comfort. Like, everything is the worst it’s been, but there is still a way to find peace and conquer all that I fear. That’s how it makes me feel. Like more stronger and less fearful of what I’m going to face. Ik this is a bit strange or just corny, but it really does help me get back on my feet when times are at lost and I feel like my heart is going to drop any moment. If anyone reads this, I’m sorry for this boring rant. But, I hope all is well for you. Take care and fight the power! ✊
❤
You need to read/see solo leveling, it has a similar vibre about "overcome" the 5h1th.
Greetings from Argentina
This song always makes me think of Simon's final goodbye to Kamina.
It reminds me of the blond hair guy, *Kittan, using the drill he found and sacrificed his life to save them all with 0% probability.

TTGL is the non-depressing Evangelion.
@The101nega true story,bro
Evangelion ain't got shit on ttgl
Evangelion is not about depression, stop getting the themes wrong, people.
@@Ganom-ng1zt yeah it's about the depression of the human condition and what choices you decide to make as an individual to deal with the suffering of life.
@@wdavis6814 It tells a story about overcoming suffering and self-acceptance. You are pretty much correct with your description, but I think the intention of your original comment can come off as misguided.
My 2 month old son turned into a grown man after I played this for him.

This and Neon Genesis Evangelion together changed my life. Neon Genesis Evangelion helped me realize just where I was wrong in my ways of thinking, and this anime showed me how to be a man and overcome that.
And I'm not a poser looking for attention or anything. I actually tried to kill myslef last year in October. But I survived, only to start fighting, out of all the video games and anime and movies and books and whatnot, one of the best, most-interesting, intense battles that lasted for months. A battle with myself. And it was exactly like this. Depression and Desperation switching out with willpower, anger and sheer strength.
Glad you survived 💪🏾
@@belakthrillby Thanks! Me too. This will always be a constant reminder to me, and should be to all people out there. It may seem to dark at one moment, it may seem like a best solution to just end it all. But after I survived that, so many nice things happened to me. Life is just... hard and tough. But it's many small moments that make it worth it, many small moments that I wouldn't have experienced If I hadn't survived.
Evangelion is just the prequel to gurren lagann everyone knows shinji is the anti spiral.
Being serious though I agree I’ve seen both and they did change my life. Glad you survived and you will go great bro believe in the you that believes in you 💪
hell yeah bro, I'm glad you were victorious. Facing yourself is the toughest opponent, and I'm proud of you.
Let's go my friend! Hope you are doing better since then!

I've been on psychiatric meds since I was a kid. A psychologist said I should be institutionalized when I was 10. But thanks to my family and drive, I was able to be off all meds for a year when I was 21, took so much work and balls. It's still the proudest achievement of my life, above being a judo black belt and competing internationally, breaking wrestling records for my high school, getting a chemical engineering degree and running multiple student orgs while dealing with crippling back pain due to a collapsed disk in which I lost 15 pounds of muscle mass over 2 years and physical therapists and doctors told me there was nothing else they could do, but built back up and I'm running and lifting again. My dad once told me when I was struggling, "I always knew you'd be something great, or nothing at all", very real due to me almost killing myself a few times, and very profound. I grit my teeth and do the impossible, see the invisible and just continue to row, row, fight the power. I listen to this song every time I falter and every time I start a new chapter in my life. I've already done the impossible, already done more than I could have ever dreamed. I love it, I'm blessed and I'm working to make my drill pierce the heavens! Keep going, it gets better.

Good job man
This anime gave answers to a lot of depressing philosophical animes whose main theme was just a depressed main character
“The dreams of those who've fallen! The hopes of those who'll follow! Those two sets of dreams weave together into a double helix! Drilling a path towards tomorrow! And that's Tengen Toppa! That's Gurren Lagann!” - Simon
“Don't believe in yourself. Believe in me! Believe in the Kamina who believes in you!” - Kamina
“Your drill is the drill that will pierce the Heavens!” - Kamina
“Who the hell do you think I am?!” - Kamina
“We evolve, beyond the person that we were a minute before. Little by little, we advance with each turn. That's how a drill works!” - Simon
“Believe in yourself. Not in the you who believes in me. Not the me who believes in you. Believe in the you who believes in yourself.” - Kamina
“If there's a wall in our way, then we smash it down! If there isn't a path then we carve one ourselves! The magma of our souls burns with a mighty flame! Gurren Lagann! Just who in the hell do you think we are!?” - Kamina and Simon
“I will believe! I will believe in the me that believes in us, humans and the future! This drill is... my soul!” - Simon
This are words from the greatest people in the show
1.8k people couldn’t pierce the heavens.
No they couldn't create the heavens
*FIGHT THE POWER*

Every time I feel depressed in life, I come here to feel better while reading the comments. I love this anime sm and everyone who feels the same way and love this anime as much as I do ❤️
Один из треков заставляющий пережить события сериала будто во второй раз. Божественно!!!
Для меня каждый просмотр как в первый раз
I love the musical progression of this piece. It starts out with just the opera, which is essentially a proclamation of their death. Then the piano kicks in and the rap starts as a kind of retort. Humanity is saying “No. we will fight the power” afterwards, the opera gets louder to reiterate their demise. It goes back and forth like this until the music overlaps and they try to drone each other out by getting progressively louder. Finally, you have nothing but the fight the power at the end as a proclamation of their victory
Thank you for you explanation, i love TTGL and this OST, and never thougth about the meaning of this songs until now. Thanks.
what's a god to a non believer
The whole song is a fight
If my chances are not zero it's as good as 100 percent
Words to live by.
+Realag666 Even if they're zero you're guaranteed success. That's how Team Dai-Gurren rolls!
+Realag666 its unfortunate that was used in an older anime. gaogaigar. which clearly the same ount of insanity went into well hammers instead of drills though
+Realag666 Good life advice tbh.
+Realag666 Bro even if it is zero kittan will fkn do it anyways
This anime was so good i started going to the gym because of it
They really don’t make anime like they used to goddamn I miss this shit
Not they don't make anime like they used to, they couldn't make another masterpiece like this.
Anti spiral : "What on Earth"
Me : "Dude, your standing on top of a galaxy"
And Earth is the anti spiral’s enemy?
@@hmongpepper3340 Nope, just everyone in the Universe that let loose their evolution
@@hmongpepper3340 Yes, but only as a subset of all Spiral lifeforms.
because Anti Spiral used to be a Spiral too

How come not Kamina?

Да не Камина блин! А братан!
if you're depressed this song will give you power to get up and fight the power!

Men don't cry... They sweat through they're eyes!!!!

Simon The Digger You were and will forever be a Kamina-attempt.
Simon the Digger AKA lacking another ball to get to Kamina's level.
guys, maybe Simon is not the most badass guy in the anime, but remember His fucking googles transformed into fucking shades! how badass is that?
Simon the digger

A man

This anime pulled me out from depths of darkness and despair I thought I’d never defeat
👍👍👍👍👍🎉🎉🎉
I genuinely think this anime should be prescribed for people with depression you cannot watch the whole thing and still feel hopeless. I always watch it when I feel down. Ro Ro Fight the Power.
Best part of the song 0:00 - 4:49 The chorus was sensational and epic.
My little brother listened to this, now he's my older brother.
KAMINAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Marcus I enjoy it to but I think stebbins has made better songs

DO THE IMPOSSIBLE
The only anime that reached the point of making me emotionally sad and cry was steins gate both original and 0 endings I guess that the downside of having watched a lot of good anime in childhood where I didn't understand the importance of the carecters actions and the concept of death
I quit watching the show an episode or two when I found out kamina was actually dead.
Trust me. It’s worth watching it all the way through. Take it from some one who’s watched the Four Horsemen of Depression when it comes to anime. Props for those who know what I’m talking about.
Dark Angel different anime for a lot of people when you say “depression”
"Kittan...I accept your dying wish"
"Our friends hopes and dreams are etched into its body, transforming the infinite darkness into light!"
"Unmatched in heaven and earth, one machine, equal to the gods!"
"SUPER GALAXY GURREN LAGANN!!!"
Best. Transformation. Ever. Period
The hype was unreal
"Who the hell do you think we are?!"
"Were gonna show you the power.... of the human race!"
Im a 33 year old guy and I first watched the anime back in 2007 as it was released. I still listen to this song throughout the years when things get tough and I need to remind myself to keep pushing forward.
I forgot how much of an absolute fucking banger this song is.
