Sending Advanced Reader Copies of My Book! Formatting my eBook & How I Get Book Reviews // It’s time to talk about how I get reviews of my book before the book is published! Today I’m showing you how I format my ebook in Adobe InDesign and then upload my files to StoryOrigin to create ARCs (Advanced Review Copies). StoryOrigin allows readers to apply to read my book and I, as the author, am able to accept or deny applicants. Once accepted readers are emailed with instructions on how to download and read the book. StoryOrigin also emails to remind readers when the book is published to write a review on Amazon.

This sounds like an amazing platform. When doing a 'sample' of your book, do you add any front or back matter? Inquiring minds would like to know.

You can, but I usually do just the sample itself.

Again, thank you so much for this! Got a quick question:
At the receiver end how smooth is the experience? I followed your steps and tested it on my partner's phone. She gets the option of downloading the sample file as mobi or epub, but neither of them opens in her Kindle app. Should it just smoothly open up or does the reader have to do something? (Interestingly enough, it opens up smoothly in e-reader apps other than Kindle).
