    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Terminator is part of a series of machines created by Skynet, an artificial intelligence, for infiltration-based surveillance and assassination missions. Had he been arrested after the events of "The Terminator", these are the criminal charges he would have faced.
Our exploration extends beyond fiction as we draw parallels to real-world scenarios. We examine cases of real-life criminals and their prosecutions, drawing on legal expertise to examine the likelihood of Terminator's criminal activities leading to actual charges.
Please note that the video you are about to watch is entirely fictional and is produced solely for the purpose of raising awareness on the consequences of committing a crime. The scenes depicted in this video are not real and do not reflect any actual events or persons. We do not condone or promote any illegal or unethical behaviour, and this video is intended to serve as a cautionary tale to deter individuals from engaging in criminal activity.

The hoodlums at the beginning are an interesting case because they literally stab him with a flick-knife, any normal man would have been in mortal danger and could have legitimately used lethal force in self-defense, but I suppose that as the Terminator KNOWS that they can't possibly hurt him then him killing them is disproportionate and therefore murder.
Of course the Terminator is a machine obeying his programming and has no free will where he can choose *not* to try to kill Sarah Connor, so he isn't legally or morally responsible for anything he does in the movie.

Realistically, this brings up an interesting question: at what point does a machine such as Skynet become sapient enough to the point where it can be held criminally responsible. Skynet in this case had enough sapience to go against humanity and strategize against possible resistance leaders, but on a smaller scale could a self aware computer be charged for misusing it programming to commit white collar crimes such as financial fraud and identity theft?

17 were killed from the 30. Just under half survive their gunshot wounds, the Terminator was being efficient as possible, shooting to get them out of the way to find Sarah as a priority, it didn't intentionally waste more time to kill each individual cop properly. Some cops would've been wearing body armour, some didn't, it all depends on the individual cops & how their bodies react to trauma as well such as people can die from a knife cut but survive a headshot wound.

It’s not acting on its own free will. However, since it is a machine, it has no rights, so it can just be destroyed and scrapped.

Not really. Carjacking is about taking a car from someone forcefully - ejecting an owner from the driver's seat or coercing them to leave under duress. Grand theft auto is just stealing a car without owners consent and in their absence - breaking the door lock and driving the car away from the parking for instance.

I'm confused as to why there are burglary charges instead of breaking and entering. Aren't they not B&E charges since he was there while the homes where occupied?

They are concious, the neuro-net processing develops similar to our brains that gives rise to sentience, 800s are the first machines to have self-awareness given it's revolutionary processor, the read & write mode means they can remember from past experiences, while read only makes them forget, only having short-term memory with pre-set parameters as the only long-term memory.

Wouldn't he be acquitted? He is just following a programme, which he has no control over. Skynet would have to be held accountable, but as we know from Boeing, CEOs can get away with anything.
