    Warren Buffett has made over $500 Billion for shareholders, hes one of the greatest wealth creators of all time, he has more than a 100 companies under Berkshire, he has a different style of management and doesnt get involved in operations, what the hell are these guys talking about lol

      @JustSayin
      I think you misunderstood what Icahn is saying.
      Icahn is saying that Buffet as an investor should have taken a more active role in restructuring businesses to be more efficient - that he as a major shareholder should be actively managing the companies he and Berkshire have interests in. It has nothing to do with some alleged dichotomy between personal or corporate interests and national interests.

      I'm not really interested in the financial history Warren Buffet. It's really not my point or even relevant. My real point is that Icahn was not saying what JustSayin was claiming he said.
      Icahn was saying that he personally would have chosen a more active role in managing his properties than Berkshire. If you have your own view of something, whatever, but let's not put words in Icahn's mouth.

      @pedro garcia Not really, firstly Berkshire doesn't just own stock in companies, they have 100% ownership hundreds of companies which they also operate. Berkshires market cap is north of $500b which means it has created a lot of wealth for its shareholders. Not to mention the 100,000+ jobs created directly by Berkshire and its subsidiaries. So in terms of wealth creation Buffett is right up there with Gates, Bezos etc. Icahns approach is different though, but i don't know enough about him to comment.

      Owner doesn’t necessarily need to run a company . Sometimes owners job is to select management which can run the company for him.
      In my view, Icahn doesn’t need to run a company. It’s not his job. His job is to make the sure that the management runs the company well. If management is not doing its job properly then it needs to be replaced. Icahn just makes sure that that happens.

      I think that he disagrees on the fact that he wouldn't have any problems in moving all the levers he could to push his income. Warren Buffett is more peaceful and he doesn't want to screw anybody for 1% more. Look what he did with Berkshire Hathaway.
