@@TheCalculatorGuide thank you helped alot
@@TheCalculatorGuide hoping I'd find some videos to help with my calculator and you have made a whole channel to help people, thank you 🙏 subscribed!
As someone getting absurdly stressed about year 10 mock exams, this video genuinely made me laugh with joy. Thanks, man
how did you do?
@@drippingcowflaps8675 My god, I had completely forgotten I'd ever left this comment! I don't remember how I did in that specific mock, but in the end my GCSEs got cancelled and I got a 9, so I'm quite happpy.
@@thriller2910 haha that's so cool, to think that just 2 years ago you were stressing over mocks and now you're completely done with them
@@drippingcowflaps8675 yeah it's really cool to think about. You had no idea about this, but I finished my final set of A level mocks yesterday, so your comment hits a little bit harder, as I'm probably never going to do another set of mock exams.
Tip 2 was a real gold nugget! I'll being using that in my classes from now on.
Thanks for the GCD, LCM trick. Never struck me...
One tip: You can also change the default display for the mixed / improper fraction using Setup.
Great video, thanks. There are a few tricks here that I wasn't aware of... though I'd still stick to using multipliers rather than the % button!
The best explanation so far 👍
2 and 4 and 5 will be very useful thanks a lot
i didn’t know about the DMS conversion! will definitely use thos
this
Thanks so much, I am ready for my exams
Really appreciate this video 👍
this brilliant. Thanks invaluable
That time problem was a real 'aha' for me!
Very uselful!
It was the equation mode in the fx-991MS that saved me in the Advanced mathematics exam (Numerical methods questions) around 7 years ago. So I prefer the 991 series.
THANK YOU!
just if i knew this when i was studying... would've saved so much time
1:26 alternatively you could use the prime factors of the number to find both HCF and LCM the old school way
Very helpful, thank you! Can you use the fraction button to find the highest common factor and lowest common multiple for more than two numbers?
I haven't found a way to use it like that yet, unfortunately.
@@TheCalculatorGuide thanks for your response!
You are amazing
I am literally watching this a 12 in the morning. I have my exam in 9 hours
Its so sad in my school we were not allowed to use calculator back then!
Are you in UK? Calculators are required for GCSE exams so your school should be allowing you to use them
🙏 thank you
interesting video
Hi, Can I ask how you make your videos, they are so good. Is it an emulator on a word document?
It is the emulator software and ScreenFlow on iMac. Screenflow allows you to choose backgrounds and put different elements together. From what I understand Camtasia for windows has similar functionality.
@@TheCalculatorGuide Brilliant thanks for your swift response. Luv your videos
Really helpful uploads. How do you put electrical equations in, ie milliamps to amps and resistances, and voltages
can I ask you a question, are calculators allowed in the actual exam?
There are some conversions available if you press SHIFT and 8 and scroll through. However these tend to be more complex ones as it is often expected those sitting exams will be able to remember certain conversions.
Depends on the exam. They are allowed for GCSE and A-Level
ur the best
please can you do one for the the Casio fx-991 ES PLUS? It would mean a lot as I have exams coming up.
The majority (or all) of these should be applicable to the fx-991ES. I tend to focus on the Classwiz no as it is more up to date, but some of those videos should be relevant too.
5:20 super useful😀
My mind is blown like what!!!!!! Why aren't we told this?????
Sainsbury's are currently advertising models Casio fx85GTX and fx83GTX at discounted prices, I ordered the first and instead received Casio fx85GT CW (which I wanted to avoid) so that's what their stock is
The GTX has been discontinued by casio, Casio fx85GT CW is to replace the GTX model, unf I see it has bad reviews saying Casio have ruined a great calculator and produced something which is much more difficult for students to use. I ve also searched for tutorials on how to use but I can't find anything
I m now considering my options on whether to keep the GT CW or pay triple for the GTX (for igcse Maths and Physics Higher)
What advice would you give, @calculator guide?
And if you re a student, did you use the GT CW model this year, if so, how did you find it esp when not enough tutorials online?
I m so confused tia
I will be producing more tutorials for moths the fx85GTCW and fx991CW models going forward into next year. I imagine some others on you tube will do too
The fx991EX is currently still available although stocks will go down as the last of the models are sold. It is more expensive, but probably worth it to support your studies. You may be able to pick up a used one, but be careful not to buy a fake.
The CW models overall is just a change that needs getting used to. It probably isn’t an improvement as such, but may become a standard model depending on whether it becomes more popular.
@@TheCalculatorGuide Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my query, I ll look at your suggestion
Some random video on the internet"Hey, there is a button on your calculator that instantly gives you the prime factors of any number you desire and you can check with it for a prime number in seconds!"
Me: "WHAT THE FUCK?!?! HOW DO THEY NOT TEACH THIS IN SCHOOL?!"
Nicely explained but voice is too low kindly resolve this issue
If I write the steps for trick number 2, would I get full marks in the question?
Depends on the examination. It is always good advice to use the full method where possible.
The first one doesn't work for me for some reason- I typed in 220, and followed the steps but I got the answer: 220º0'0". Any idea why? Great video btw!
You have to press shift, then that button
@@b07x Yea I tried that but I still get 220º0'0" 😔 Thanks for the help tho
@@spiderus14same
Convert 220 to a decimal: 220/60 then use that decimal and you’ll get the correct answer
Why in last example he used 103% to indicates 3% ?
and why multiplied all percents and not adding ?
also why you use powers to indicate years ?
103% indicates a 3% increase. The idea of the process is to use a multiplier rather than to add an increase of 3%. The repeated use of the multiplier is indicated by use of a power. That same multiplier is repeated so it is simpler to write as a power.
Since he is getting the amount after three years=2000*(100%+3%)^3 =2185.454 and for the last two years, the last investment amount =2185.454*(100%+3.5%)^2= 2341.112961 the same way as he did.
Hello, why do i get my answer 13:61 in my calculator please answer if im doing anything wrong
How did you get that app on your pc and is it windows?
The emulator is a subscription software from Casio. It can run on Windows
I have application of Casio which is free when you see ads@@TheCalculatorGuide
Is the 991ex allowed for igcse a math 0606 and e math 0580???
I believe so yes.
Anh đức phúc hát hay quá 😍😍❤❤
Are we allowed to use this calculator in the gcse
All calculators shown are allowed at GCSE.
does the first one work for fx-570es? cause it is not working for me
No it doesn't seem to have the FACT feature, sorry
should my calculator have a “M” at the top aswell as a “D” ?
It just means you have something stored in the active memory M
Does this work for the Casio fx-991 es plus model?
I think they all should except for 1. I don't think it has FACT
@@TheCalculatorGuide fact works, the time function isnt the same
But they all pop up in non calc
1st
Can the casio fx-911es plus can do this too?
All except for 1 as it doesn't seem to have FACT
So casio fx-911ex is the best you recomend?
@@batakadventurer4875 Yes I do. I haven't used my 991ES since I got the 991EX so it's sort of the successor really. The 991ES has now been discontinued.
@@TheCalculatorGuide thankyou so much❤ you deserve a lot more subscribers❤
How to do fact function in Casio FX-991ES PLUS model??
It doesn't have the fact feature sorry.
@@TheCalculatorGuide Hi Brother can you post some videos on Casio FX-991ES PLUS model please.
I only have fx-100
Sorry
The first one doesn’t work for me
i am in lockdown so i am homeschooled for the coronavirus and um to say the least half of the buttons on my calculator dont work and the most important button which was used in everything on this video does not work, at all.. ;-;
and i only just realised this is for gcses im not in highschool, yet so thats basically my year for you e.e
please dont come and harrass me for my spelling lol
You might not be ready to use this just yet. When you are ready for GCSE, then yes.
you are right sir BUT did u know that examiners don't give you the full marks if you don't show your working out - especially HCF and lCM, the always have 3/2 marks which is not only awarded for the final answer (needs working out). WHO AGREES with GANGS???!
It depends on how the question is phrased. If it says you have to show your working (or it's a "show that" question) then yes, you'll lose marks if you don't. But if it doesn't then a correct answer will get full marks as long as there's no actual WRONG working written down.
(I've been marking A-level and GCSE papers for one of the major exam boards for several years.)
@@b28mathstutor Usually questions worth 1 mark don't need the working, they give you the mark for the correct answer. On questions for 2+ marks they'll give you one or more marks for the working out
2:15 Why do u flip it??
That is just the sneaky method of finding lowest common multiple
@@TheCalculatorGuide Thank You this video was very helful
You go too quickly through the time calculation to see what buttons you are pressing
The prime factors of 72 gave me 2*3*19 instead of 2^3*3^2 please what went wrong on Casio fx 991 ex classwiz?
No idea. Try it again. I get 2^3*3^2
@@TheCalculatorGuide I still get the same result. Is my calculator a fake one?
What does it say on it? Does it definitely say Casio CLASSWIZ fx-99EX If it says SUPERWIZ it is a fake.
@@TheCalculatorGuide classwiz sir.
@@omnibrain8 Just try a reset and see what happens SHIFT, 9, 3, =, AC
Too fast for my liking. Pity!
