  • In this video I talk about the new product by TE: The choir.
    Info from TE below:
the pre-programmed repertoire of classic songs have been created
and performed using an algorithm based on counterpoint melody,
a compositional technique that refers to the independent but complementary relationship between two or more lines of
melody played at the same time.

What are your thoughts on the choir?

      Pointless toy for the wealthy.

At first it does seem like a toy for those who don't need any more toys. But taking a deeper dive, I think these dolls are going to be collector's items. And I think TE will keep upgrading their features. They are very unique and each one is also unique in itself. I predicted they would completely sell out very quickly, and that has happened. I wish I had purchased some when they were available. In a world where there are a million different bluetooth speakers and lots of ways to make sound, these do something unique by interacting with each other as well as providing an almost ASMR-like experience when listening. I've read that you really only need four to get the full choir effect. That's 1k. I've spent 1K on other things that weren't this aesthetically beautiful, even with no sound at all. Summing up, I think these will be very popular items for a very long time.

@@BillVincent FYI they just became available again. I bought a set immediately.

Wow! Imagine using this concept to make a fancy-ass chess set! Like being in full attack mode, and when it's your opponent's turn, playing Ride of the Valkyrie to psych them out, a la Apocalypse Now!!! 🤠🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁

I disagree about the audio out. That seems kind of like complaining that a ukulele doesn't have an audio out. The charm of these things seems to be the unique organic nature of how they produce their sound, speakers vibrating wood, right? I'd certainly rather record these with a microphone to get that unique sound. 🙂

I do agree with what you are saying, however I think having the option for both is important. Imagine you want to run effects on the units without an audio out jack you need a mic - pedal - output. If you want different effects on each unit that is mutliple mics/mutliple pickups. Having audio out I think is something a project like this needs along with the speakers.

@@DECIMA1 Hey, if you can afford $2000 for these toys, you can afford $50 contact mics for each one, which would sound more accurate than a wire out from the speaker, right? 😁

@@genepozniak the person who drops 2k on these can afford people to mic up the dolls for them 🤣

If you haven't already, do a search for the "Absolut Choir" or "Absolut Music Machines" - this is a throwback/homage to one of first (if not _the_ first) project they made as a company. But yeah, I don't think anyone saw this coming 😅

nice technical idea, but once again it's way too expensive...
but it would be a fancy benefit to some instgram accounts.

it's way too much for it... i guess, it's just fancy way too expensive shit again.
it's made for instagrammers but not for real musicians...
