I loved Ori and the Blind Forest
Let me be honest here. Ori is one of the greatest game franchises I've ever come into contact with. To say it's a masterpiece is an understatement, and a REALLY huge one at that. I played the games pretty late, but I still loved them nonetheless.
Seeing you make covers for them when you've been a favourite artist of mine for a few years now really brings joy to my heart. Jonny, I don't knos if you'll read this, but I just want to say I appreciate you making this song.
The next area of this comment will contain spoilers for the second game, so please be mindful.
If you could, I would reccomend doing Ori, Embracing the Light from Will of the Wisps. It's such a lovely and dramatic ending theme, and... well, it just really made me feel more at the end of it.
I would highly reccomend these games to anyone looking for something to play that has story and replayability. Sure, it's the same thing every time you play it, but I feel like the Ori series is just one of those games I'll never get tired of. It may have come along recently, but it already holds a special place in my heart.
Thank you again, Jonny, for making such a wonderful cover for such a wonderful piece from such a wonderful game.

I never finished Ori and the Blind Forest, but this arrangement is making me imagine him donning knight armor and holding his sharp and shiny blade to the sky as he prepares to slay the monsters plaguing the land. Epic as usual, Jonny. :)
It probably makes more sense to refer to Ori as genderless, considering they are the offspring of a tree. Good imagery, regardless.
No need to answer, but out of curiosity, are you female? I've noticed a tendancy for people to instinctively call Ori male if they're female, and males in turn tend to call Ori female on instinct.
(edit: to be clear, first paragraph's point is just to mention a thing I find interesting, not to say "Ori should be referred to with exclusively they/them" with the standard connotations of such phrasing. The same logic I used could be taken, arguably more correctly, to say that any pronoun fits, and the games themselves use... she? he? I cannot remember - _maybe both?_ - to refer to them)
That's not entirely innaccurate to the second game, where you do actually get a light blade for combat.

I heard this and Northeast Frost Street described as metal ballads in Patreon chat a couple times, and if that's the genre they fall under then I think I need more metal ballads. This year's off to a crazy strong start, can't wait to see where it goes from here!

I will never forget THAT moment I died and died one after another, and the song never stopped encouraging me to keep trying, you brought such a good memory back :')

This music kept me going during the countless deaths when the tree was flooding.
Love how you cover the credits theme after doing "Restoring the Light, Facing the Dark", and you did a stunning job. Love the Ori games, they are beautiful stories with bittersweet endings, very well worth experiencing from start to finish.
Light of Nibel has a segment of "Restoring the Light, Facing the Dark" in it, so both parts are one song.
I literally just finished both of these games and they quickly became my favorite games of all time. My jaw actually dropped when I saw this in my subscriber feed. This is such an incredible cover and I'd love to see more of Ori in the future!

Never played any of the Ori games, though I heard nothing but amazing things about them. Maybe I’ll get around to them eventually. Totally unexpected cover, though, yet like always, it turned out amazing! Love how it transitioned to acoustic for the outro!
They are excellent metroidvanias and I highly recommend them. Definitely among the most beautiful I've played and they always feel great gameplay wise.

I have both Ori games, they are amazing. Truly an emotional tour de force that will leave you a hot mess, especially when you beat Ori and the Will O' the Wisps.
imo the first one is meh, but the story is good; while the second one is a disgustingly fun metroidvania but the story is meh.
i'd only recommend the second one, even if i find kinda pretentious and style over substance, just because the movements mechanics and level design are phenomenal

audibly gasped when i saw this in my sub feed, both ori games have some of the best game soundtracks of all time as far as i'm concerned
I honestly wasn't expecting anything from this. I haven't played either of the Ori games and I haven't really listened to its soundtrack. At most, I know a couple of song names, but that's it. As such, I had no expectations, and wow, this blew me away. The chanting in the background, the guitars sounding amazing as usual, the fantastic transition from the song to the ending, this was just fantastic in all regards.

This sounds like it would play as Ori has an epic awakening moment, and he's all that stands between a force of evil and everything he loves, then has a fight with a final boss. Not necessarily Kuro or Shriek but like, a new story.

Fantastic work as always, I also recently played will of the wisps for the first time and I loved every moment of the sequel. This game was still amazing even if I played it with bad controller set up.

The timing for this is perfect as I just finished this game. It was a beautiful experience in every sense of the word
I think back to childhood and how my parents didn't really approve of me listening to metal because they worried it would bring out aggressive or violent behavior but things like this show that you can pull something more emotional and even hopeful out of a metal arrangement. I love the way the harsh guitars contrast the beautiful strings to keep it high energy yet beautiful. It helps that the Ori soundtrack is great to begin with.
