Taylor Swift is a legit great songwriter, I don't like her pop stuff but man, her acoustic / alternative / indie albums, Folklore and Evermore, are absolutely fantastic. She can sing and she can write. This cover is very cool (especially the "it's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me" progression before the last chorus) and I'm sure Tommy recognizes her musicianship as well!
Hopefully Taylor Swift can write some songs for Tommy😁👍
I can't say I agree that she can sing. She's okay she's not what I would consider a good singer but I'm someone who has some classical training and I'm just not impressed I've heard much better singers. She's not a bad songwriter but I just can't get into her music when she's the one singing it but this is amazing.
I remember what it was like to be 16 and being made fun of for wearing the wrong band shirts, and God forbid admitting that I was listening to Avril Lavigne and Taylor Swift. My 16 years old self is tearing up a little.

This is so gooood!!! I'm a huge metalhead and Taylor Swift fan, and I have been listening to Midnights non-stop since it came out. I realized it would sound great in metal and found this... AMAZING!!! BETTER THAN I EXPECTED!. I wish I could listen to the whole album in power metal, I really need it now hahaha

Same here. I am a rock/metal guitarist. I absolutely love Taylor Swift's music. For me it is more than the lyrics (although she is very good at romantic lyrics). It's her musicianship. Specifically her melodies. So many God damn beautiful melodies and hooks .. all over 4 chord songs. Listen to the melodies on Forever and Always, Other Side of the Door (bridge), Blank Space, Me, X mass Tree Farm. etc. Anti Hero just another one to add to a very long list. She's a relentless melody machine. Love her.

I mostly listen to various metal and EDM genres but a few Taylor Swift songs are an occasional guilty pleasure of mine 🤣 she's just so damn catchy to the point where if you hate it, your ears are probably broken lol.
Years ago I was waiting in line at Subway and they had T-Swift playing, and I caught my foot involuntarily tapping and I was like "how dare you" 😂 Then I learned to accept it haha

It was horrible , I felt like the whole song was destroyed and I was so mad 😂😂, but with Tommy is a different thing, like he creates a new life to the music . When I first heard this song, I formed the opinion that its structure and lyrical content are best suited to emo or post-grunge. Most of the covers I've listened to so far supported that for me (one of my favorites is Ray Garrison's). But man, you're starting to change my mind. Your cover is magnificent: technically impressive with your own creative spin but preserving the spirit of the original. Bravo.
