    Thank you for this, very interesting. My wife and I have travelled on Riviera river cruises before and I have just booked for my first solo cruise since I lost her (some 4 yrs ago) and I chose Tui because of their single balcony cabin options and must say seeing it on your video as opposed to just in the brochure has been very interesting. Although nervous after looking at your video I am looking forward to my first holiday without her.

    Good comprehensive review of the different cabin options. However, the glass, opaque shower doors and walls didn't offer enough privacy as per Emma, of Emma cruises, when she shared a cabin with her brother!

    Most cabins on other boats have two chairs and a little table for drinks so that people can sit and watch the scenery. They did not show the chairs by the french balcony and I think they mentioned that there was only one chair.

    we were in 116. It was great,plenty of room.Air con was on all the time. It was a first for us trying a porthole window and was okay. We have always gone for the higher more expensive rooms before but thought we would try this one out.. A superior which we had is 15qm whereas the standard is only 12qm. The extra does make a difference

    Many thx. Yes the water is fine to drink on ocean cruises too. Many ships make their own water as they have a desalination machine. I hate the way so many folks will buy or bring bottles water, such a waste of money and plastic.

    Hi Carole and Paul,
    Thanks for information 👍
    We just come back from Iona to Norway, lovely ship bit think it's too big for Fjords, Ports missed due to winds ,didn't leave Southampton till 2am Sunday due to winds ! So missed Stavanger, a bonus was Flam as extra stop which is beautiful.
    Looking at Sky Princess now !
    Which do you prefer Sky or Iona ?
    Bye for now .

    • @PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel
      @PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel  Před 2 lety

      Sky Princess is a beautiful ship but lacks bars that look outside such as the Crows Nest and full promenade. We are going back to the Fjords in September and have chosen Cunard QM2 as this ship has both of the above and only 2691 passengers!

    • @janemayhew1442
      @janemayhew1442 Před 2 lety +1

      Oh wow lovely, you've picked the best ship!
      We like crows nest and especially the prom to walk around ,in fact that's the best part of Iona for us ! So glad I asked you ,thanks .
      We have booked Aurora for next June!!! Should find our way around, that ship looks great when cruise monkeys went on her 😀
      Take care

  • @DavidBrown-qc7ev
    @DavidBrown-qc7ev Před rokem +1

    Thanks for this as it was helpful, however do you have any views on how much noise each cabin type may endure? I note that some cabins are near or under bars/receptions areas, does the noise from these intrude into cabins. I note you were staying in 209, which is right next to reception, again was there any noise intrusion from there? During the day it won't bother me but it would during the night or very early morning

    • @PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel
      @PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel  Před rokem +2

      No problem. We didn't have any noise by reception but would not book a cabin right at the back as there was definitely more vibration from the engines there.

  • @chriswilliams6568
    @chriswilliams6568 Před 2 lety

    Actually the cabin with the port holes had what looks like a double bed, (4 ft 6”) whereas here in No. America no one that i know has less than a queen size which is 5ft wide. Many have a king (6ft), I wish in the Uk they would state the actual sizes. I would hate to have to get in a 4 ft 6”.

    • @JulieWallis1963
      @JulieWallis1963 Před 2 lety +1

      It will depend, when you travel, off peak much cheaper than high peak. Where you go, I’m pretty sure a Mississippi river cruise will be move expensive than a European cruise if you’re traveling from the uk. Rooms without windows or with small windows are cheaper than the French balcony rooms onboard for river cruises.
      Paying for the best room with drinks package (not necessarily worth it on a river cruise) wifi and tips will cost more than the cheapest room with no extras.
      If all prices were included, it would be a long, dull video.
