Traces of the Steyning Line at Shoreham-by-Sea

  • In 1981, the final remaining section of the long-closed Steyning Line (which had been kept open to serve the now derelict Beeding Cement Works) was lifted. 30 years on, it is still possible to find some traces indicating that what is now a walk and cycle path was once a branch line.

    Shame they can't put in a narrow gauge rail way that would take visitors up to stenying and Bramber.

    @Southernrailwaysfan Thanks mate. I can't see it ever reopening, but the trackbed is intact for a fair way so you never know. Amazing that those buffers are still there after thirty years!
