    I love these and can't wait to try one. I just purchased the template a couple days ago. I have watched several videos and without a doubt, you had the best guidance and luck with placing the vinyl template on the cup. So many people have struggled with that. I also love how you had the darker colors weighted towards the bottom and the lighter towards the top....a great spin on this that I had not seen before. As always....you rock!

    I am determined to do this design as soon as I can figure out a substitute for The Devil's Glue. I swear that jar laughs at me when I struggle with it. Coverage is my problem. I end up doing 3 coats sometimes on a plaid. I haven't tried coloring it yet. Maybe I'll try quick coat or waste a lot of fast set. Anyway Jessica, TU for inspiration as always. Gotta ask Linda how to resize in Design Space. I'm gonna use a Steel Magnolia shorty to start. I already bought the template for the big cup. I'm a Silhouette gal with only a Cricut Joy to work with. But I am still determined😉

    I have one of these started but I could not come up with a pattern for the colors for the life of me. Whatever pattern I would create, it wouldn’t line up and I would have two rows next to one another being the same pattern and my ocd couldn’t handle that. So I did what you did and randomly laid down colors. I am half way done but again, my ocd can’t handle it. 😭😭😭 Like always, yours is perfect though.

    You said in the video you cut the vinyl twice. Is that just your preference or is it recommended to do that? I just put a brand new blade in my machine and usually cut everything on the washi tape setting so I don't know if I should cut twice to be safe?

  • @haleyleal23
    @haleyleal23 Před 3 lety +1

    I just love these! And love love love your colors you picked out! The combinations are endless! So question, is there a reason why you waited to lay you vinyl down till after you epoxied your glitter? Instead of just putting your vinyl down right after you glittered, before your first coats of epoxy? If that makes sense lol

    • @patriciaguti
      @patriciaguti Před 3 lety +1

      I'm not Jessica, but I can say that I've done the same thing. You want a smooth surface before applying your vinyl, otherwise all the texture of the glitter will show through and won't look "clean". It will be bumpy.

    • @haleyleal23
      @haleyleal23 Před 3 lety

      @@patriciaguti but wouldn't you be placing the vinyl right over the stainless steel? It should already be smooth right?

    • @patriciaguti
      @patriciaguti Před 3 lety

      @@haleyleal23 I’m confused. Are you talking about the vinyl strips? When making a cup, you always apply any decals (like the strips) over a smooth surface, after you’ve decorated the cup. And usually u will only need 1-2 more coats on top to seal everything.

    • @haleyleal23
      @haleyleal23 Před 3 lety

      @@patriciaguti I'm talking about the printed vinyl. I know you need to put vinyl down on a smooth surface but I'm talking about of skipping the step of waiting till after you've covered the glitter portion with epoxy. Because you'd still just be placing the printed vinyl over where the stainless steel is showing, covered with epoxy or not. She's not laying the printed vinyl down on top of any glitter. Sorry I've not making much sense lol 😣 I totally get why you'd want to epoxy before laying down the strips of vinyl though. I'm talking about once you've got all your glitter sections done and you move on to printed vinyl, why would you need to epoxy in between that step? Maybe possible glitter fall out?

    • @patriciaguti
      @patriciaguti Před 3 lety +1

      @@haleyleal23 I’ve only done glitter only tangram. But I would do what Jessica did because if there are glittered areas surrounding the printed vinyl, I imagine it would be trickier and more time consuming to get crisp clean lines around the glittered areas. Plus once you do the glittered sections and your lines are maybe not as crisp, adding the printed vinyl on those empty sections will give it a more clean look. Just my opinion of course.

  • @lovestobead
    @lovestobead Před 3 lety +1

    thanks for the tutorial! I did have one question--does the template account for the thin line of stainless at the top of the tumbler? If not, when and how did you sand through that part? Did you sand the vinyl off? thanks!!

    • @FlynnSistersBoutique
      @FlynnSistersBoutique  Před 3 lety

      It doesn’t but somehow those vinyl pieces can be placed appropriately to allow for the thin line at the top and you can sand down if needed after a coat of epoxy
