Thank you for making the show possible. 🙂
The most important philosophy channel in recorded history.
PlasticPills is pretty good too
LOL
This channel is criminally underrated.
Found this on spotify! This guy is amazing. I love how he picks the topics and how he encapsulates all the shit he wants to show us into these episodes.
i am learning english with his podcast
Hey Steven, Are you OK?
Waiting for pt. 2.
Hope all is well.
I found you on Spotify and I listen to you almost every morning, trying to catch up on all your content. Thank you so much for the information you share Stephen!
im opposite i fall asleep to him often hahaha. youre probably absorbing more then i am
Missed you so much. Was checking podcast on a daily basis :)
He has new episodes on Spotify
@@benjamindover4337 Thank you so much Alex
Thanks for your videos dude, I'm only at episode 30ish but I know I'm gonna listen to them all, your work is awesome
Hey Stephen!
Suggested your podcast to a friend of mine. Helped him a lot in understanding western philosophy and also helped him score better in his extrance test.
Thank you so much. ❤️❤️
I started your channel on April 28th 2021. Today, May 19th 2021, I have completed every episode in chronological order. As Episode 152 ended and I some old episode begin it occurred to me I'm out of new content. PLEASE KEEP IT UP! Amazing stuff (and I use the word in the literal sense) ;).
I missed this videos so much! Your work is amazing, keep it going, Greetings from Chile
Hi it's me again, please do more videos, I got from episode 30ish to 70ish now and I fear I will come short on episodes yet, we need more mr West :D just kidding, thanks for your knowledge I'm so glad youtube and Steven exists to learn about philosophy in traffic jams in a chronological manner.
IDK why so few people listen to this show, it's worth so much more, I will, for sure, redirect any curious people to that show, it's amazing 👍
That was great, more Benjamin!
Stephen West is a great modern day philosopher. You gotta be able to teach your philosophy.
Greatest Philosophy Podcast ..
Thank you for this awesome podcast. 👍👍🙌
Perfection once again!!!
Hi I’ve been listing for a while now but if I can ask what happened it’s been like 3 months sense you dropped something new, hope ur doing good tho!
I am actually starting to study this in school really soon, this is really helpful and interesting at the same time
For which class?
@@benjamindover4337 I'm on my senior year of high school in Italy and we have history of philosophy as a subject
Thankyou - very original angle.
thank you so much.. I just read a short history of photography and didn't get it. your analysis has allowed me to see the 'Aura' of the original work. sometimes you just need to be shown how to look at an original text. thanks again.
Love you Stephen, just what I needed. Ps I’m also a fan of the moon!
Thanks. Funky stuff. Keeps me going.
Awesome video
would love to meet steven west. seems like a great and thoughtful guy.
Thank you for your so very insightful take on this brilliant vanguard. I'm coincidentally just past the notes (A-Z) of Benjamins Arcade Project (& about to read the most final draft (a- ) of his actual composition. I humbly ask if you could cover the "WISH" (DIALECTICAL) IMAGE which seems omnipresent in that (never completed) opus, Arcades Project
Thank you!
First of all, many thanks for the great content. I'm a philosophy instructor and a long time fan.
Secondly, would you consider an episode about Roberto Esposito (eg "Immunitas), as he seems to be relevant to the post-Covid political scenery?
Thank you
This episode was fantastic. It really explains to me what has happened to Rock Music over the years. It is not the level of creativity & originality it was in the 60's, 70's & even 80's. It's like what happened to the novel that Benjamin goes into. People don't actually stop and listen to music like they once did. We would once put on an LP and actually sit and listen to the music only. Music is now more of just background noise.
Can you do a full episode on Phenomenology? :)
Hi , anyone knows how to find the transcript for this show ? much appreciated !
Which Benjamin essay is he discussing here (around 09:30, about the origin of language)?
For anyone wondering, there are new episodes on the Spotify podcast.
i would love to see a brzozowski epizode on his philosophy of a deed
Thank u for this. I somehow have a hard time understanding Walter Benjamin.
Can someone explain the last point? "what happens when the masses can come face to face with themselves."
is there any group somewhere where I can talk with people about these subjects? I'm currently studying philosophy in university and struggling, but I?d like to learn really bad
Have you tried Reddit? Mostly toxic but you can find little pocket of people who actually love having conversations.
The Irony of the video is the fact that the CZcams video of explanation of a work is also a mass mechanistic reproduction of the real work which also makes it a demystified version of the real work and that comes with a lost of the real work’s aura…. No disrespect though, its a good video ✌🏿
Do the philosophy of Emil Cioran next?
I loved this podcast, but one little point I'd like to make. I've lived in Germany for 50 years and I speak fluent German. I realize that you think the letter "J" is pronounced like an "H" (like Spanish). No, German is a different language. Perhaps you know the German word for yes: "YA", that is how you pronounce Benjamin. Ben-ya-min. Real easy! :-) I live 20 minutes from Frankfort so if you're ever over here, we can have a beer and a bratwurst. Ya? Keep up the great work!
Why there is no subtitle ?
We've been graced by the gods today fellas , check Spotify for the new episode
Sounds like Heidegger and Benjamin were pals in his last days
He was German so his surname should be pronounced Benyameen, not Benhameen. I am guessing that as an american you are being influenced by your knowledge of spanish which is the language most US english speakers learn as their second language in school.
How about the technology that allows more people to even see great works of art?? (I must be missing something here ....)
I wonder what Benjamin would think of art forms that were born from photography and the like, such as photographic art, cinema and music albums...? All of the above definitely contain stunning (at least immanent-feeling) art very far from the Marvel-esque mass culture.
Great episode. I would take issue with Benjamin's statements about art. I would say that of course artists create art with the audience in mind. Did Michelangelo sculpt David or Steinbeck write without considering who was consuming it? Take your podcast for example, do you not think about what your audience is interested in listening to before you put in all the work of producing one episode. Not a criticism of the episode, just trying to start a conversation.
Where are you??
When it's been awhile since an episode has been released I start checking Spotify and CZcams multiple times a day to see if ones been uploaded lol
Will you please do one on Ayn Rand and objectivism. Thanks for the awesome content!
Please we need stoicism
😎
JA NOT HA, my god
any stoicism or taoism coming?
Those were eradicated in the great cultural revolution of 2020.
@@benjamindover4337 // insert Jim Carey puking GIF from Dumb & Dumber.
There's episodes on both at earlier stages in the show. Taoism is within the eastern philosophy episode and there are multiple episodes on stoicism.
@@thotslayer9914 yeah. Still atheisting it up over here. :D
