- There are many Filipino coins that are worth a lot of money, but this one probably takes the cake in terms of the most valuable piece floating around for any of the valuable Philippines coins. This coin is TWO OF A KIND - only two Pesos from 1907 (no mint mark) have been found in existence. In essence, the coin is a 1907 Proof Silver Peso lacking an S Mint Mark, a bizarre conglomeration of varying errors. Look out for this one in your change or in coin collections - it is unclear why the coin currently exists. If you find this dollar in pocket change or coin collections worth big money, you could come away with immense riches. The coin is worth around $200,000 U.S. Dollars and very well could be worth much more if interest in the coin rises in the future. Look out for rare coins and rare dollars in your pocket change - you never know what you'll get!

Another great video! The 1907 Proof Peso is indeed the rarest U.S. Philippine coin in existence. It is important to remember that these coins are U.S. coins as well, not just Filipino. In fact they are the first and only bi-national coins struck by the United States (the pesos were even struck on Morgan Dollar planchets if I'm not mistaken). So it's important to remember it's a U.S. Coin series.
I've gained a lot of firsthand knowledge in this series over the past couple years (representing the biggest USPI collector in history), and I believe it is currently one of the most underrated U.S. coin series, and has begun really picking up steam in the last couple years.
Also, being directly involved with the last sale of this 1907 Proof Peso (to a private collector), I can say it sold in excess of the price you mentioned and is a truly amazing piece of numismatic history! As always, keep up the great content!

@@TreasureTownCoins Nope. As far as I know, the USPI Pesos preceding the 1907 Peso (1907-S) were 90% silver, just like the Morgan Dollar. After 1906, when silver prices skyrocketed, they reduced the size of the Peso and made it 80% silver. That's why one of the two 1907 Proof Pesos was struck in 90% and the other was struck in 80%. It was a transition period for the fineness of the coins.
Since they were struck in the same fineness as Morgan Dollars up to that point, and they were legal tender in the U.S. (since they were bi-national coins struck at U.S. Mints), but the Peso was weaker than the U.S. Dollar, these coins were not worth their silver content. That's why 1906-S Pesos are nearly non-existent. They were almost all melted for their silver content in the strong silver market. So only a few hundred (it's believed) survive of that coin despite a mintage of 201,000 coins.
So it's an incredibly fascinating and underrated U.S. coin series. Eliasberg also had a great collection of them, so he definitely appreciated their history and rarity. As always, keep up the awesome work!

The 1903 S 50 Centavos exists only as two trial strikes. Though the die for a San Francisco version was made, Philadelphia's production was deemed sufficient so the die was not used beyond the two trial strikes.
