I totally agree with you.. In the same way that no one has ever been able to be a second MJ and it's not for lack of trying, or another Beyoncé, I don't think anyone will be able to be a second BTS ... We'll have to create a new story... I also think, like you, that BTS is going to become the most legendary band in the history of music... It is even said that their lyrics will be studied at school in the future and that they will make history by being recognized as great thinkers of modern times... They had the intelligence to choose the most influential vehicle at the moment to transmit their message, namely pop culture... True visionaries

Given they are the band from Asia and their songs are not written in English, this is the first-ever-seen phenomenal moment in the world's musical history. This is the moment the barriers across the world are beautifully fallen by only positive and imspiring energy! BTS is BTS! We are lucky to have them in our era!

And yes it has to be taught in schools. The lyrics and their meanings are masterpieces.

I was sad that I was not able to attend but it was really cool to be told the story and see videos and picture of the outstanding concert. She came home and surprised me with an army bomb light stick promising me that some day I will go and see them myself and now I can, even though it may not be in real life but I have my own light stick to go with the concert that will be in April 18 - 19 (bang bang con) so I do appreciate everything.

I think everyone knows there is no “duplicating” BTS. There will never be another BTS and big hit isn’t trying to do it. I think it’s more of a let’s keep giving people an authentic group. TXT they are extremely talented group they’re pretty popular and do receive a lot of hate. But they work really hard, And are some of the most well rounded rookies in the game right now and they have the best big brothers in the world that give them advice and support them. Bts is BTS. TXT is TXT and I’m pretty confident that over time people will learn to appreciate them for their own music, talents and members.

    • @BangPDsMom
      @BangPDsMom Před 4 lety +12

BTS truly does support TXT! When TXT won the MMA ROTY, Taehyung seemed happier for them than winning as BTS. Because BTS was the first boy group that Big Hit debuted, the members had no one to go to for advice. They have admitted they missed having that. They don’t want TXT to feel they can’t go to BTS for advice if it’s needed. The relationship is sweet and real.

one of bts’ advantages is the core values, morals, and goals that they’ve had since predebut. they’ve worked towards the same overall goal for years, and that gives them a sort of credibility that almost no other artist has. the love yourself series was critiqued on by many outside bts’ circle, and even some within their circle, as a marketing ploy that is targeting the emotions of their fans. however, those who have been a fan of them, or those who look into their discography and messages further, know that everything they have created, and everything they will continue to create comes from a place of sincerity. another thing is that this sincerity is not just the groups overall consensus, but there’s also the sincerity from the thoughts and emotions from each of the members individually. there is an overwhelming amount of truth and self awareness that comes from bts that goes unmatched and is impossible to replicate.

I was at Citi Field in 2018! It was so overwhelming and emotional that night, we were all in tears at the end.
The same day of the concert I remember finding out about the Kavanaugh confirmation on line in the parking lot. I keenly remember how dejected I felt. I had been following the story along with a host of other Me Too stories at the time. It was honestly a rough time as a woman in America and the world.
That evening when Jin performed Epiphany and the crowd sang along with him might have saved me from really going to a dark place. A stadium of over 50,000, with a predominantly female audience of all ages and walks of life singing "I am the one I should love". It felt otherworldly and special as if we were all comforting each other by re-learning how to love ourselves.
BTS are special and I will keep saying this till I die. I mean this with all sincerity, I might have long been gone now if it wasn't for their music.

TXT is actually pretty popular, they are some of the most well-rounded rookies this year, and their concept is not only magical, but the videos themselves are fantastical and poetic :) Since they are younger, their concept is still in its "fetus" state, but I'm sure that as they mature through the years, their concept will grow as well (there is also speculations that their concept is tied to the Bangtan universe); but yeah! They're pretty amazing in their own right!

It was the weekend after their Chicago concert and me, my brother, and my sister rented a car, drove to Illinois a few days before that concert to just sightsee and to go see the boys, then we stopped at home for a day (about a five hour drive from Chicago), then drove to New York for the first time to go to that concert too. They are going in their own pace, though they get quiet a lot of "hate" from others that claim their success was only because of being the little brothers, but TXT work as hard as any other group no matter if they are from bighit or not. Of course they got spotlight for being the little brothers but they collect their own fans (MOAS) themselves, through their music and hardwork.. I attended the Citifield concert. It's a special memory for all Army and BTS members. They added the one time stadium concert in October after they wrapped up other US LY tour in September and before headed off to Europe tour. It exceeded my expectations of any concerts I have been to their LY arena concert and their hard work was so moving. They were drenched in sweat after first 2 songs and they kept it up till the end. Everyone singing in unison with BTS members under the sea of Army bombs were just out of the world. It's a beautiful memory. BTS and their staff deserve all the success through the grind. They took time to develop organically and reached a critical mass around 2015-2016. TXT may become bigger if they put in the time and stay on course, as they have lots of talents in that group too.

I had just gotten my first job and my second paycheck had just come in right before tickets went on sale cuz the first check wasn’t worth anything lol and the first thing I did with it was buy my first BTS tickets for me and my mom. I had to convinced her to make the 6 hour drive to NY though. I also almost didn’t even get the tickets cuz I didn’t know what I was getting myself into and only used my one ☝🏼phone to enter the hunger games. 😂😭 My aunt and cousin were also going so they tagged along with us. It was the second if not best thing that ever happened in my life! The only thing that could probably beat it is when I went to Seoul for the first time to see them at barricade for the “Speak Yourself tour Final” which was actually scary cuz it was my first time ever leaving the country and actually my first time ever going on a plane. I went by myself too which was even scarier but it was still the most amazing experience ever and I had so much fun! About txt and BH, the thing that makes it even more interesting is that the company and txt knows that. They know they cant replicate another BTS and that amount of success, which is why txt's market is different. Txt is crazy talented kids, thats why they dont have positions (eg: vocals, dancer, etc). Their music, market and strategy is way way different than bts's, theyre not trying to replicate any of that, but instead letting this new group create their own. Letting the talent and their color shine. which i think is admirable. Also BH is diversifying their business, theyre introducing new platforms like weverse, weply, other ip business. The company knows that they cant put their eggs in one basket. Theyre subtly planting other foundations for their empire. Theyre smart.

DT, let me set up my answer to your question. I am SUCH a New Yorker (lol). I'm a die-hard NY Mets fan, as my Dad and I bonded over hot dogs, cracker jacks and baseball at Shea Stadium when I was a kid. It was the only time he didn't bemoan his lack of a son (I'm kinda kidding, lol. My Dad was freakin' awesome!!! And boy did he fight so that I could do and be whatever I wanted!!!). Those days spent with him at Shea were always the highlight of my summer vacations. OK. That was the buildup, now let's fast-forward 30 years. I began to follow BTS in 2017 and became ARMY in 2018. Love Yourself Tear was my first comeback and will always be the album most dear to me (though tbh 7 has given it a good run for the money!). The Citifield concert was my first EVER and a live BTS concert is an experience like no other, BUT that it was held in the stadium that my favorite MLB team of all time plays at three years after my Dad passed?...It was the most emotional and memorable ARMY moment I will EVER have, PERIOD!! (Unless I ever actually meet them...but that's the kind of thing that most def would cause a heart attack, so...). THAT being said, I saw them again live in 2019 and I will see them again whenever they come back to the States. I get emotional every damned time I see them, cuz OMG they are LIT AF live, (but also because I'm a freakin' crybaby over these boys!!! Lol.) and MAN...it's just SUCH a beautiful freakin experience, I kid you not!!!

The relationship BTS and ARMY has was not built overnight. It was built through years of good and bad experiences together. What they went through, we also experienced them in some ways because we constantly supported them and they consistently showed their sincere appreciations back.
Just like any intimate relationship (couple, friendship, family) that is built to be close and strong through experiences of good and bad, good times and trials, the same thing happened to BTS and ARMY.
And new ARMYs also get to learn them because everything was documented from the start, they also form a bond with BTS and old ARMYs welcome the new ones open heartedly. We grow in numbers, but the passion to support BTS also continues to grow and expand.

Now, it's so wonderful seeing people experience, be amazed and then fall in love with these boys. You really made me get into reaction videos lol. I'll never forget the times when you said you realized your dad was watching your reactions and also when you said your mom called you to tell you about the tickets which was significant to you. These guys are amazing, bringing us all together in every shape way and form. My two little ones come to me and ask me "Let's do Fake Love" "Let's do Oh my my my" lol they are little ARMY ages 3 and 5, we dance together (like crazy people lol) to BTS. I always love your reaction and your thoughts.... I've loved BTS since 2013, at first because of their variety shows... and a few of their songs.. I came to love them as humans first.. then I fell in love with their music.. because they love music... now I understand what they stand for amd what they are trying to do... it feels like I know each if them personally... they are definitely a school for my adult life... they taught me life...and the many variations of life, and the things that can happen.. just by looking at them and experiencing wuth them through the years.. and seeing each of their character development.... I saw how hard it was for them to just love each other in the beginning... they were all so different... but they clearly show how it can happen, how you can love and accept another human being just the way they are.. and not try to mold them to fit you.... they are a book I never want to finish reading and learning from.

THANK YOU for saying that DT! I have been saying BTS is the greatest group in history since becoming ARMY and, like you, getting push back from all sides (ARMY, Haters and In-Between), but I completely agree. Sure, the numbers, the sales, the fandom, but even The Beatles did not have lyrics that were so intentionally and cleverly socially conscious. The Beatles never had performances (dance, performance) that communicated messages about philosophy, identity and literature. The Beatles seriously pushed the envelope musically for their time, but BTS is doing that too in totally different ways (marketing, social media, lyrics in multiple languages). IMHO BTS is not really just a music group, their entire existence is an art form, closer to opera than pop. (P.S. Please don't come at me with the "don't compare groups" comments. Billboard compares groups. The Grammys compare groups. DT is comparing groups. I believe we do our BTS a disservice and hold them back when we shy away from asserting their SUPERLATIVE talent... especially now that we can give so much evidence. Beatles fans (of which I am a huge one!) can be flattered at the comparison to BTS.)

This interview talked about bts debut years as though they're already popular, which was SO WRONG. They said bts's first concert was a big hit? Truth is, they had around 2000 attendance. Their whole red bullet tour in different countries only had 80,000 total attendance, as compared to now, a single concert venue of bts have the same amount. They were very badly ridiculed from 2013 all the way to 2017, in no way were they successful at all. People looked down on them so much to the point of shaming them on television. Even variety show hosts back then made fun of them just to make their show more entertaining, cause they know BTS doesn't have enough fans to attract an audience. This is also the reason why BTS don't attend variety shows now, they made their own show (RUN BTS) and sticked to it. I dislike it when people talk about them like they were already successful back then, disregarding their hardships and the amount of perserverance they had to go through to reach where they are today

BTS was the most popular k-pop group in the world at the end of 2016. Their Wings album was the most selling album among k-pop idol groups in 2016. Only, Korean general public did not know that (You see, Korean general public is not interested in idol groups, and TV people ridiculed BTS because Bighit then was a small company without any influence in the industry) Of course, most Korean music industry people knew BTS was popular at the end of 2016. That's why Bang PD had BTS go Wings world tour in 2017. Still, Korean general public didn't know how popular world wide BTS was until 2018. And still, Korean people thought EXO was more popular in 2018, because SM was the biggest company. Only in 2019, when BTS had three #1 album on Billboard 200 within a year and being compared to Beatles on Korean national TV news, it dawned on Korean general public.

On the topic of them being the most legendary musical act of all time, I wholeheartedly agree. Their music catalogue, their personal and group achievements, their overall message, the effort that they’ve put into themselves, their craft, ARMY, and their message, and the fact that they’re still hungry and haven’t grown complacent with their standing resonates with a lot of people, from the casual listener to ARMY to other prominent figures (such as politicians, other professionals in entertainment, etc). IMO, whether you like them or not you can’t deny that they’re living legends because of those things alone. Never mind the fact that they’re just mid-20s to 30years old. This means that they have much more in them; whether they continue in music or they each branch out into other areas where they’ve shown that they also have talent for.
On the topic of the other HYBE artists, I agree to a certain extent. Yes all their other artists will be in the shadow of BTS regardless of their achievements for the simple fact that BTS literally built the company from the ground up. BTS turned a bankrupt company into one of the most profitable companies in SK. Yes all of the current and future artists will likely never reach BTS’ level but because they’ve opened the doors to the global market for K-pop (in theory) it would be easier for other artists to become global musicians. But there will never be another BTS because they were the first at practically everything for Korean musicians in terms of the global market. So I agree it’s a very fine line that HYBE has to tread but you never know what the future holds.

No other group will be as succesfull as BTS, what makes BTS special is their history, their falls, their mistakes, I see a lot of people that calls BTS overrated that there's lot of groups more talented then them, but all these big agencies CAN FABRICATE TALENT BY MAKING THEIR IDOLS TRAIN FOR 5, 6 OR 7 YEARS But bts is the most genuine group out there, the funniest thing is that many kpop fans who sadly meet kpop through BTS and they call themselves ''ARMYs'' are the ones who most insult BTS, and they cite groups as stray kids , ateez, loona, everglow, etc ... as proof that BTS is not that good, when these groups only have 1 or 2 years of career and all these groups are following the steps and the "formula" that BTS somehow create '' deep lyrics '' '' self-produced music '' etc. ... bts broke all the rules, they got a lot of hate for that, and now these new ''kpop'' fans call BTS overrated? Noone can actually replicate BTS's success and overall influence and dominance around the world - either be in kpop or pop in general. They are a unique phenomenon that comes once and the timeframe in which they create is unique as well. The story, the usage of social media, the relation between BTS and ARMY, the indie root based structure of the ARMY fandom, the message and storyline, etc. - in its wholeness has never been done before. There are a lot of companies trying to replicate the "BTS formula" but that won't happen - you cannot replicate and manufacture something that is sincere, that was build step by step, you cannot replicate the struggles, the hardships and the message that is consistent with the wholeness of the BTS&ARMY narrative. And this is the reason why I completely agree with u that BTS is the greatest group of all times and that's my opinion both as an ARMY and as a researcher as well.

I think of other groups following them as not being in their shadow but a step ladder that shows them; 1st that you have to create music that means something. 2nd to have a message that people will relate to. 3rd that you remember without your fans you wouldn’t be where you are. 4th to stay humble. 5th wanting to show your fans that the love and support they shower you with is received with a very thankful heart. 6th you have to stay true to yourselves. 7th to always strive to be better and last but not least to love yourself and this crazy world we live in by accepting differences. Doing away with the labels that insecure people created to make themselves feel better. Big Hit will hopefully change the way groups are formed and moulded into something that each person can relate to. Instead of saying you need to look a certain way, you don’t have a say, you need to lose weight, you can only sing the songs your given, your there to perform and nothing else. I think Big Hit will see other groups do well, TxT are gaining popularity and you can see that again the members respect each other. I’ve followed KPOP for nearly 13 years and was becoming discouraged by the members act in front of the camera’s. Then I found BTS and they gave me hope for the future. I will always be thankful and a proud ARMY member. Sorry this is so long and thank you for your reaction 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I am with you DT. As far as I can tell, as an overall complete package, BTS is the Greatest Group Of All Time. They have not wavered from their mission of helping others through their work. No other artist I know of, continued to stay constant to helping others throughout their careers like BTS. They are the most humble group of boys who don't take things for granted and are always thankful to their fans for their successes. They said many times before that they know this could be just a moment in their lives and it could all fade and disappear any time so they try their best to stay true to themselves and the ARMY. My point is, there have been many great artists (singers) throughout the century who are phenomenal performers but how many do you know who have been true to themselves and their fans constantly throughout their careers and inspired people globally to love themselves and their neighbors. I was at Citifield! 💜The night was absolutely magical. I've been fortunate enough to see bts 3 times and citifield was by far my favorite concert. Bc it was the guys' first outdoor stadium show in North America, they were extremely excited and hype the entire show. It was just....a vibe in the air that night .
Also the empire state building was lit purple to welcome bts💜, the 7 train ran after hours to get concert goers home safe, local news kept mentioning the concert days before- and bts knew all of this. They were so proud.😊
This was the night jimin got super emotional as they were saying their final goodbyes, and received inspiration to rework his solo song into what is now Promise. Also this was the night of namjoon's famous speech: "....please use me, please use bts to love yourself. Bc you are teaching me how to love myself every day. " there was not a dry eye in that stadium. I mean, just....magical lol.
Regarding the future of Big Hit....Bang seems very aware about the pitfalls of any new group being stuck in bts's shadow. He has been almost obsessive about presenting txt as a separate entity, early on neither group mentioned each other much at all (they interact more now) . Imo, his most effective strategies have been giving txt a completely different aesthetic than debut- era bts, and especially txt targetting Japan more than the West (since older bros have the West pretty much on lock lol). I believe they are doing quite well in Japan too, even outselling established Japanese acts in their native country! They are a talented group of guys who are very actively NOT riding their older brothers' coattails (unlike many other kpop groups. Ehem).

I believe BTS is a once in a lifetime group of artists....and we are all very fortunate to be living in the same time as them. One thing I will say is that the genius of BTS guided by the genius of Hitman Bang is the perfect combination.....and I don't think one would be as successful without the other, but that's just my opinion.

I do think that maybe other artists have the same message. But only BTS has the impact bc of them being so genuine and real and raw.

I completely understand what you are saying. BTS is super special. Other groups are talented but the special combination of these particular guys cannot be duplicated. NO ONE is doing or have done what they have and what they will continue to do. This makes them the best group in the world based on all the elements. Some musicians only have a few. They have it all. I don't understand Korean but their music touches my soul, along with their emotions they express. I am in awe of them.

I agree that bts is the best group of all time because it has everything, good music, good voices, dance, lyrics with beautiful messages, beautiful and fun people and love their Fans, other groups have had one of those things but only bts have them all together , I don't think anyone can fight me on this

Spring Day is about drawn Sewol ferry with 400 high school children and some of the BTS members were same age as children who drown in the cold water. There are many governmental controversy with that song. When u see them in the laundry mat, the clock is 4 pm that was when the ferry drown. The dryer remind of children crying and screaming with fear in the window of the ferry. Suga with mountain of clothings were belonged to those who drawn. Jin looking up in the stairway is when kids were at the lower compartment of the ferry looking up for help. You can catch so many signs and metaphors in the MV. Jimin came back to the shore to hope to meet them again. 😭😢💜💜💜💜

I agree with you DT!! Overall, their message, numbers wise, the talent of all 7 boys. They just have something special that I think comes around once in a lifetime for people. It was the Beattles for my parents. Its BTS for me. Also, TXT is amazing and they are doing really well. They have their own style and are very different from BTS. I dont really think they are in the shadow of BTS. They have done a great job of showing off their own identity that is separate from BTS.

Well ARMY is actually the most organized fandom that I know. And yes some ARMY are so talented that they made several songs for BTS as well. Listen to them they are pretty touching and beautiful. And also there is a documentary about ARMY as a fandom. I am just so happy to be a part of the BTS and ARMY family.❤️❤️❤️

I agree..... BTS is the greatest of all time. Music is not about the hype an artist creates. Most of the nowadays artists just release music with beats and words showing off moves and fashion. But that isn't just everything. Many kpop boy groups will be born. They will break records with their advertising campaigns and be over rated. Also they will create a huge trend for what they do in future.
But when it comes to making this world a better place, healing the hearts of people and promoting a positive message... BTS is the greatest of all time. With their hard work, they are like the one in million artist that we get to see.
Music or an Artist is not just about being a hit. It should deliver more. BTS does that. They are a great combination of all the qualities an artist should have. Most of the artists don't have all the qualities in order to reach the fans in the perfect way. Sure.. many are successful with music. But if it is the success that you achieve just by some words and a beat, that's not the real deal. BTS is the most complete artist.
Also I am also not the person who only listens to songs which carry messages. I love sings which are fun. I fall in love with the melody, the voices and the flaw of sound. But if you are an Army, you know how proud you are to be a fan of BTS. Because they live upto the true meaning of an artist. BTS somehow manages to induce FUN and SWAG into their great music. They are the perfect package.
