A sleeper express train called "Ginga(Galaxy)" was running between Tokyo and Osaka until March 2008. Certainly, the departure from Osaka was after midnight, and even if I tried to pass through the ticket gate around 23:00 on the day, I was denied the ticket gate according to the rules of JR. (The ticket will not be valid unless the date changes.) I have also boarded "Sunrise", and I was able to get a good night's sleep as well as "Ginga".
