It is maddening that p bass style pickups don't have a standard size. I've never had a pickguard with the pickup opening actually fit the pickups I had.
So glad you decided to "go ahead" with absolutely everything... 😁
I had that same frustration on my parts bass where Fender parts just barely don’t fit. I have no idea why you would make a Fender style bass and have it not match up to Fender spec, but I’m glad you were able to make it work!
I'm guessing you "went ahead." Good job!
Thanks for joining me in part 1 of this beautiful monstrosity of a bass, y'all!
EDIT: Check out part 2 with the finished bass and seeing what it sounds like!

Use some finger nail foam blocks to clean and shine the frets. You can get them for
Always always always lay out all the parts for a first loose fit to align everything. Great job.
I've been doing parts and kit guitars for a few years, and I've got to say for a first timer it looks like you did a really good job. I've always been warned to stay away from rattle cans (i.e. aerosol spray paint) but your finish really came out nice. Good job!
That looks great, man, super cool seeing the process of the build so far and can’t wait to see how Part 2 is gonna go down
Very cool - I’ve been wanting to try this as well. Love that color. Nice job!
It would be so cool hearing you reading the german instruction 😍 greets from Germany 🤘
Only thing it needs is your logo on the headstock. I like the cheap paintjob and a wetsand i did that on my last one and when i sold it. the guy said it was extremely clean, he paid dearly lol 😆
Cool video, Patrick. 😎🤘🏻🎸I’ve recently purchased a bass kit myself and I’m looking forward to working on it real soon.
really cool Patrick! love your videos!
Nice job Patrick, It looked like a fun way to kill a few hours! I like that Thomann saves people time (and frustration) by doing a lot of the pre-drilling. Not a lot of DIY kits drill the bridge holes and that alignment is just so important.
I also got the PBass kit and am doing shell pink! Great minds think alike!! Looks great man! Still have to paint mine yet and I'm going all out with nitrocellulose lacquer paint. I'm gonna go with the white pickguard. I've got a Custom shop P bass pickup to drop in there and I'm gonna swap out and relic the hardware at some point too
"Go ahead"
Awesome vid dude!! I wanna do this, but coming up with a cool headstock shape is gonna be tough.
Looks cool! I apparently missed the part where it became a mess, because it looks pretty solid and sorted out to me.
Looking good so far. I'm curious as to how the pick-ups sound that come with it. I keep eyeing doing a kit, but I also want one that's a double P config, but no one makes a pre-made version of that. So I may just have to buy a body blank and hit up a friend at a maker station to use their CNC to do it.
GREAT POST
When will you go ahead and give us some sound samples?
two thumbs up!
How does it play?! That’s what really matters in my opinion.
Solo does a variety of kits for US/Canada but a bit more expensive. I guess if you are doing a bulk purchase from HB , adding this won't kill you on the shipping...
Went to check that kit out, >$70 shipping for an $89 kit here in the states
I like the way it came out. Did you use a clear coat?
Looks really cool! How about letting us hear it?
so how does it play? sound?
Nashville Guitar Works. Have you heard? Did i hear it from you? If not, check em out and maybe demo. Looks promising.
What does it sound like?
how did it sound?
Please let us know your total hours invested inn the project by the time it is done.
Things are never simple working with wood.
Why not a Jaguar Fender bass DIY?
Why didn't you play It?
The overspray onto the fretboard tho :(
this wood died in vain (
Nice video even if title is misleading. There is a HUGE difference between building something v/s putting something together with parts already completed(kit). Not hating but come on man, you basically used leggos and then saying I painted the Mona Lisa
First :D
You seriously did not even plug it in and show how it sounds. WTF?!
please stop with the sponsored videos? there’s literally no way you stand to gain financially from a free $200 kit lmao
The kit is 89$, also why does it matter if it’s sponsored because it didn’t affect the video at all
Gezi 0 Because I’d like to know whether the kit is good or not? If you believe that him saying the content of the video isnt affected by the sponsorship just because he said so then i have a bridge to sell you
@@USSLIBERTYREMEMBERER he didn’t even review it..? The whole point of this video is him just building it, we don’t even know how it sounds. By the way, he has other sponsored videos where he criticizes the product. He’s not paid extra money to just say good things, the basses are usually just sent to him so the company can get more exposure from reviews on CZcams
lmao easy there old man, you might get a heart attack if you keep on getting stressed over all your assumptions😂
Drink every time Patrick says go ahead
