Thank you for inviting us to be a part of your experience!
Everyone’s different and we mustn’t judge, that’s the way they showed their feelings and respect, and they shared this together, it’s their experience, I think, it was great and moving, although my religion is different, but it’s not my place to judge.
I sincerely cried, people have the right to say goodbye and grieve and celebrate the life of a beloved person exactly the way they feel right. They showed their love to a person, who was special for them!

This was different not sure how I feel about this.. but I know transitioning from this earth shouldn't be a sad day but a celebration so I guess this was their way to celebrate her🙏

Funerals are really more for the people left behind rather than the person who passed. This was different but if they found comfort in it, that’s what counts. I cringed at first but loved it by the end!!

They know their mother. Does anyone honestly think her children would do anything that they knew their mother would find disrespectful? Of course not. We didn't even have a funeral for my mother. She hated them. So we waited 6 months and had a memorial for her. We served all of her favorite candies, her favorite donuts, favorite fast food, and her favorite Dr. Pepper. We played her favorite songs and invited everyone to talk about her and share their stories. One of her nephews talked about the first time he ever heard her say the"f" word. There a few tears, but there were far more laughs. It was a perfect celebration of who she was. We (her 4 kids)knew she would have loved it.
I bet that is exactly what Mz. Johnnie's children knew, too.
Don't judge how people choose to say goodbye.

I love this. Though a funeral is about mourning. It should also be a celebration of ones life

If you go to that kind of parlor, you know you’re planning something “extra”, not a traditional ceremony

Why? Everyone’s grieves differently, and some people see funerals as a celebration of life. It’s a very sad time for the family, but dwelling on it and being somber doesn’t help. Everyone sees death differently. And maybe she wanted her funeral to be like this. I think it’s a great idea for some people.

There is more than one way to mourn. Just because this isn't how you mourn doesn't make it wrong. They honored their mom in the best way they thought possible. That was for them to decide, not you.
