- Penn State football was bludgeoned by Michigan 41-17 on the road in Ann Arbor in a beatdown that most fans and media didn't see coming. Blue White Illustrated's team on the ground in Michigan recaps the game and what they saw live with instant analysis.
Blue White Illustrated publisher Sean Fitz describes the game as a beatdown to start the video and explains what he heard postgame from the players and coaches about the Nittany Lions' performance on Saturday.
Next, reporter Greg Pickel asks Bauer about a comment that Penn State head coach James Franklin made during his postgame press conference about the team being too small and too light. Bauer and Pickel discuss that topic and if Penn State can somehow improve that factor in the future.
Next, Bauer discusses the Penn State offense's struggles and how amazed he was that they were in the game despite having no plays in the first half. He also gives his thoughts about Sean Clifford and the offense.
Next, Pickel points to the defense for not getting off the field and how they couldn't get Michigan off-schedule. Finally, he and Fitz discuss Michigan's ability to stay on schedule and convert third and short. Next, Fitz discusses the linebacker's role in the blowout and how that unit played poorly on Saturday. He discussed comments from Jonathan Sutherland on the matter to underscore that point.
Lastly, Bauer discusses Penn State fan fears about the Nittany Lions and how they were shown on Saturday. Finally, they look ahead to Minnesota to close out their analysis.

As a UM fan watching the game, at no time was I worried. Even when PSU led in the 3rd qtr. Michigan was dominating and I knew they would wear PSU down and win easily.
Bs get off here homer you was getting and whining
Exactly! 41-17! We had a tougher game vs UConn! We are....highly overrated! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@thebighousencaaattendancer478 yeah you gonna get spanked at Columbus as usual
Ya penn state was lucky to have points. And it showed in the stat line
I had that same feeling. At no point was I worried about psu winning. Mainly disappointed about the fluke pick 6.
If Mich wants to beat Ohio on the road..they cannot settle for field goals in the red zone. Plus cannot have drive killing penalties.
As a Michigan fan I feel like our redzone play calling is designed to get in a good position for a fg. I was getting very frustrated because I was getting flashbacks from last year vs msu because we settled multiple times for field goals while msu was punching it in every time
surprised they said "no one saw it coming" cuz many of us told the world we'd roll psu - go back and look at our comments on other videos leading into this game. go blue
Lol nobody is going to go look for your comments on Michigan videos you bozo Foh
💯
I think they were talking in reference to their own fan base.
I think penn state fans saw it coming too. Remember who our coach is
Oh and that Mike Morris kid is a beast and sure fire future first round draft pick. Kid can play inside or outside and is 6 ft 7 292 lbs. That's just unfair lol
Yeah he's been wrecking shit for us this season
Michigan told PSU "Too Small" 😆

Michigan fan, and not intending to dump on you guys. Just an observation. He said you need to get bigger, am I missing something, did he not recruit everyone on the team. That statement is like saying I have failed at my job.
One thing that gives confidence when we play Penn St. is that Franklin is still there. Shoot, even msu beats them which is ridiculous.
@@willowbrook2717 Franklin is a joke. Penn State should have fired him years ago. As an alum and former donor, I don't even follow the team anymore, and will not support the university in any way until Franklin is gone
True! Lol
Gotta say, as a UM fan, I was impressed by our O-line game. I expected to have a bunch of 3-and-Outs on offense and that didn’t happen. And I know we have great RBs, but I was also surprised by the long ball.
The D-LINE played just as well... Their O-LINE will probably when the Award for best O-LINE in the country again! GO BLUE
Michigan took you to the Ann Arbor woodshed. Bigger, better, stronger…this team is built to ground and pound the stool out of almost any team. The scary part is if they clean up bonehead mistakes and penalties, this game should have been 55-7. They are growing, swelling like a behemoth, a growing juggernaut
Reportedly, PSU players threw some PB&J sandwiches at U-M during the halftime scuffle. If true, those were the hardest hits by Penn State all day.
Franklin proven top 2nd tier guy it seems. Vandy is about right level.
They did not have the ball BECAUSE they did nothing with it.
This is the start of a three game losing streak. It seems the past few years they get worse instead of better as the season goes...
it would be nearly impossible to lose to minny, but I am with you (as I predicted at 5-0, and a 34-10 loss today...)
That's because James Franklin can't coach
They don’t get worse as the season goes along. They get exposed because they don’t play the best teams till the middle end of the season lol! If they played Michigan and Ohio state in the beginning of the season they would lose and then they would appear to get better by beating the lousy teams later lol! They are average and have been average for years. Franklin needs to go!
I want Franklin out
Michigan was too big on both sides of the line for us, unless Penn State does something they're not going to be able to keep up with Ohio State and Michigan
Two weeks for Yurich to prepare a offensive game plan and totally failed. Yurich should apologize to the team for his failure
This is a 3 loss team, which is way better than I thought they would be pre-season. Shake this one off & use it as motivation to light up a struggling Minnesota team in Happy Valley next week!
As an outsider, I would say yes to this. Best Minnesota, gain momentum into OSU and you can still beat them at home to save a 1 loss season.
Minnesota will destroy them
Stop using the drugs.. you're delusional
Same story. Inept, three-and-outs leads to defensive fatigue and eventually they completely break down. Defense does itself no favors on third down to make the game a defensive battle.
Defense was obviously bad this game but you could feel this moment coming where they got tired of bailing the offense out.
I honestly thin James Franco would be a better head coach than James Franklin. I almost think he's trying to get fired, so he can get cashed out to go sit down somewhere like Paul Chryst or Scott Frost.
PSU got their butts kicked at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. You're not gonna be in any game if you're getting punked at the line.
Destroyed those Boys. It wasn’t even competitive.UofM was down and I never felt threatened of them losing. Sound beating in EVERY area of the game. Those 2 freshmen Runningbacks got that stern reality check 😂😂😂😂
I can't believe our offense is this week...I know and have stated several times Clifford is way over-rated and NOT a great QB...but to get THIS BADLY rolled over after a bye-week is just INEXCUSABLE... especially because the score could have / should have been 65 to 17...PSU's legacy of greatness is getting crapped on by Franklin who just doesn't seem to have the greatness he should to be running a Big 10 team.
Maybe my eyesight is starting to fail, but I thought Clifford looked good.
The score should have been 65-3 in all honesty
Don't over react Michigan is going to end up beating osu and winning Big Ten.
@@jamesfox5105 can't blame him when he had little protection and receivers couldn't get open and had no running game.
@@jamesfox5105 He had a great run and some wonderful pass completions even though he was up againt a rocksolid defense.
Tackling was horrendous , drops or through the hands, pass in the dirt although I don't Clifford necessarily had a terrible game, the few times he had time didn't seem like any receivers could get open
I guess you can look at the Ohio state Purdue game from 2018 as an example of just having a bad day. The real test for the coaches is getting the players to over up this performance.
Why do WE always bring up that Ohio state team? Everybody beats Ohio , Iowa. Blab, Blab, Blab once
So you think that Penn St just had a "bad day"? I think a bad day is when you're actually favored and you struggle against an inferior team. Of course, if one actually thought that Michigan was the inferior team going into this game then that would explain the comment. Supporting your team is one thing... but man, c'mon now. Penn St's gonna be very good maybe next year, but this year they are learning all over again where they need to go to get there. Still, they are the third best team in the Big Ten this year.
@@clarencewalder2985 ?
@@willowbrook2717 bad game in that the game would have been closer if they played and coached better. Not necessarily winning the game but some of the players have the ability to play better.
I guess you're still delusional..
I’m really disappointed in the lack of preparation off a idle week. Been a problem in the past but this was an opportunity. And Franklin saying that they have to recruit and there’s a lack of size in some positions? Well buddy that’s entirely your fault so what are you blasting that out in a press conference for? Unreal. Lazy, uninspired Performance by the lions. That is a coaching problem
How many decades to build an offensive line???
I have never in my life seen us lose a game this bad that I genuinely in my bones felt like we had a good chances of winning. I’ve seen Psu get our asses beat plenty (ie 2016/2018 Ann Arbor) but those I expected. I’m 39. I’m a season ticket holder for 15 years. I’ve never been more wrong and disappointed by a Psu performance in my life. We’ve never gotten beaten like this in my life when I thought we were at least a coin flip to win.
There’s losing by multiple scores and then there getting beaten up in the process. Michigan just beat us up so bad. I’m so disappointed this is our showing and our product after 2 weeks to prepare.
James Franklin ain’t it. How much more do we need to see? If Minnesota didn’t lose their qb for the year today I would tell you to bet Minnesota money line next week and then roll it over to whatever Ohio state is favored against in 2 weeks.
I’m over it man. Time to move on. What do we have to lose? We are about to collapse again here after going 5-0 again.
Is anybody really surprised by this? was it Penn State fans who thought they were going to go into Michigan and beat Michigan or compete with them I certainly didn't. I don't expect anything from Penn State football worst decision ever could've made was joining the Big 10
@@pp3k3jamail you’re not wrong about any of it. I’m embarrassed really. To be THAT bad after a bye AGAIN is no longer unbelievable. It’s regular and expected. What would be unbelievable is James Franklin showing a prepared well coached team out of a bye week.
We lost 41-17 and it wasn’t even that close. Any real football fan knows this game was a hiccup away from literally being 65-10.
I'll poor salt on the wound, Could anyone see "defund the police" was a bad idea....With that said, kick the Buckeyes Ass!
Idk how you thought you had a a chance when even tho it was close, the stats showed pure dominance. You just knew that the scores would scarcely up to that starlike and they did.
The problem is the coaching...period. never put them in a position to make a play
Well as my cousin who is a Penn State fan said after the game, Ohio State best be looking looks like a repeat coming
I don't think it will play out the same way Ohio State isnt relying on a quarterback you should not be starting at this point Ohio state's offense will be big problem to deal with this season last season they were very young across the board on both lines not so this season so this game will be fun to watch
Now that a Big 10 championship is pretty much out of the question (no chance against OSU), get Allar all the reps he can handle. Time to move on.
We talk about michigans identity and will to asser themselves from the start of the game. But I'll be honest with you, I didn't know what Penn states identity was coming into this game. They almost have a well manufacture offense by the down type of approach at this point with nothing being certain.
All of a sudden Michigan looks like they could beat Ohio State in the exact same manner in which they did last year. Just saying!
Hard to say. They're awfully tough to beat in the Shoe.
🤣
It’ll be close but Ohio will win a close game
Same old Franklin Same old Franklin press conference
More excuses
Man y’all was talking the most sh*t too during the game 😂😂 glad y’all paid James Franklin 9 plus a year
You actually picked Penn State??? This was the first true test against a good team and got beat bad.
The reality is Penn State does not have good offensive and defensive lines since Franklin has been coach. They have always been weak at QB because they are not a QB school like Clemson, Alabama, or Ohio State.
Also, they have gotten weaker at LB. As a result, they cannot defend the running game and team can run on them like Michigan. Also, they have no running game.
Franklin is not a good game day coach and it has shown for the past 9 years. He is good at recruiting the skilled positions but not offensive and defensive lines including LB. QB has been mediocre but again Penn State is not a QB school.
I have been telling friends and family that the Central Michigan game exposed alot of Penn State's weaknesses. Central Michigan was moving the ball on Penn State and was controlling the line of scrimmage. They had two TDs called back and turned the ball over 4 times. Penn State did not dominate them. Same with Northwestern. Penn State had lady luck on their side for those two games.
After that I knew that Penn State would have a tough time at Michigan.
I am I the only one who thought Penn State and Nebraska would be MUCH better in the B1G when they entered? Wow...they haven't competed at all.
I remember the year Penn State joined the Big Ten my neighbor, a PSU graduate said it’s all over for OSU and UofM that PSU would win the Big Ten easily every year. As I recall that year both OSU and UofM smacked them down.
Penn state has had a lot of good years in the B1G what are you talking about? Not comparable to Nebraska at all.
As a Penn State fan watching this game the team will never win a big game under Franklin. Chalk it up any way you want, James Franklin PSU teams are so poorly coached, especially in the trenches on both sides of the ball. The offensive play calling is almost always atrocious. If PSU wants to be considered elite again it won't be with Franklin at the helm.
Been saying that for 5 years. Franklin should have been fired years ago
Michigan fan here. Penn State is a very good program, but not a great one. Your running backs are talented, but inexperienced on the big stage. This game vs. Michigan will have abundant long-term benefits. Harbaugh has vaulted Michigan into a top 5 program. Those 8-4 & 9-3 seasons are a thing of the past.
Time of possession was a joke
no one is banging on Tennessee or Bama for no defense Saturday cause all eyes are on QB / offense play. We might have a OC problem in addition to Clifford. debate over..Allar or bust at this point
素晴らしいです。 This was a super game.
They had a whole extra week to prepare for this game their is no excuse for this Franklin is an average coach at best. We have the talent to compete with these elite teams but our coaches can't get the best out of our players. Staying average is the blueprint.
Franklin is such a bad coach. Thank you, PSU, for signing him to a long-term deal.
Sincerely,
Michigan fans
Told y’all 😂
💥💥 Is anybody really surprised by this? was it Penn State fans who thought they were going to go into Michigan and beat Michigan or compete with them I certainly didn't. I don't expect anything from Penn State football worst decision ever could've made was joining the Big 10
@PhillyJay You are correct ~ 29th Big Ten season for Penn State and 2 conference championships. Franklin is not a top-tier coach. Clifford's time has gone. Play allar. 9½ more seasons of Franklin's polite press conferences. Great guy. Over-rated recruited. Lousy coach.
Ok. As a UM guy, I could still see a path for Penn State to Big ten championship. We felt the same way after our MSU loss last year. Go beat Minnesota and beat OSU at home. Finish the season with one loss and you never know what might happen. We still need to play MSU and OSU which we inherently struggle against. So keep your head up.
In 2016, Michigan beat Penn State 49-10 and Penn State won the BigTen. Michigan wound up with two losses (@Iowa and @OSU), and PSU then ran the table. I doubt that happens this year. OSU is really good and Michigan is likely to run the table until the OSU game.
Yeah none of that is happening this year.
Dream on. Ohio St is going to Absolute crush Penn State.
@@historyreview2350 Beware Illinois, however. Michigan has them the week before TSIO, as the last home game. It has "trap" written all over it. Then again, so did the Indiana game.

10 year contract
41-17 please give him a contract extension! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pull the plug on the 10th year senior ...no sparks ,,,,put the Future in who has sparks . Allar has way more talent and physical superiority. Use the rest of the season to "season " that talent and come out strong in 2023. Beef up the O-Line literally. Coach Franklin - dont make the mistake of loyalty to a losing lineup. Tenure only applies to professors , not QBs
Embarrassing. Only 9 more years of this bullshit. JF looks lost. He waits for the annual loss to UM then let’s the fan base know they need to get bigger and stronger? 70 million for this garbage? Fire him for incompetence and bring in Booby Engram from Wiscy. What do you have to lose?

You've got QB issues.
And we definitely have coaching issues as well!

@@JT-zy2ft OSU is on a mission this season.
@@JT-zy2ft I hope you are right, but I don’t see it. PSU is B10 mid tier team on its best days with slightly above average players and severely below average coaches. I started calling these beat downs as the James Franklin Specials. There are more coming over the next 9 years.
@@buntykumar9079 just saying since psu pass defense is a strong point but every team now is gonna try to run on them now so who knows. Only thing they can do is learn from this and move on.

You guys need to start Allar. Now. Right now.
Clifford has a ceiling, and he's reached it. That pedestrian O-line doesn't help much either. You guys got embarrassed at the line of scrimmage.
Our o line is almost as embarrassing as coming here to write this comment as if we need some random michigan fan to tell us shit we have said all season.
Nah … that Allar dude looked like he was in cement shoes back there. PSU needs major upgrades to their OL if they want to play a statue as QB.

Throwing Allar out in a 2 score game in a maize-out and the OL like a sieve may not have been a great idea though.
