As someone that skips out on a lot of the dialogue in quests to get to my goals in-game faster but also very interested in RS lore, this is great. Found this on reddit and wow this is very well-made and deserves more attention. I'll be keeping an eye out for future uploads. :)

This video is amazing and everything I wanted about rs3 lore. The only correction I would have is that around 10:20 when you mention the dragonkin creeds, the Necrosyrtes didn’t exist until after the dragonkin were enslaved. Before then they were just the syrtes

This really is a masterpiece of RS CZcams content. As a lorehound myself, this is exactly what I wanted to see. Being much busier with life, I don't always get to read the lore-contributing books in the recent quests and archaeology, like I used to be able to do. I learned quite a bit and was left wanting more. Great music, video editing, and the voice over really fit the mood of the lore you discussed.

3.40 you mention the horn, i think that item is the frosthorn from the wildernes castle area where we did the quest to unlock curses azzanadra used the horn to communicate with zaros.

Side note -- I did notice a couple very minor errors:
1) You referred to the Mahjarrat's creation, and while everything you said is *technically* correct, it's arguably incorrect by incompletion. "Mahjarrat" indeed means "Children of Mah," but "Mahjarrat" is not the name of the species. The Mahjarrat are one of many tribes of the species Dreams of Mah (the other known tribes are the Mahserrat, the Mahkorat, and the Chelon-Mah).
2) This is more simple and cut-and-dry, but you referred to the Syrtes Dragonkin as "Necrosyrtes." It was established in Desperate Measures that their creed's true name, and the only name they had at the time referred to in your video, is just "Syrtes," and implied that "Necrosyrtes" is a nickname, and a bit of a mocking or taunting one, that came along later (likely as a result of them giving in to Jas' curse and giving the Dragonkin their violent and cruel reputation). You also referred to each creed with a sub-name, calling the Dactyl "The Scientists" for example and the Syrtes "The Enraged;" I don't think that's official or canonical as a translation or as their roles. I think the Dactyl were indeed Scientists, and it seems the Syrtes were Philosophers, but we know little about the Nodon and especially the Aughra. Where is the sense in labeling the creeds by how they reacted to the Curse, if they existed before the Curse and therefore were not and could not have been defined by it?
There's also the lore bits that have been released since this video; More information about The Codex, as well as information about Colossi. Can't fault you for that though of course!

Are the events of Osrs going to be mentioned in these, or do they exist on a separate timeline/reality?
In osrs, the dragonkin also created Zulrah, the Alchemical Hydra, Vorkath, and Galvek, maybe more. I haven't gotten that deep into the lore.
There are also some parallels between both versions of the game.
In RS3, we got Anachronia, The Land out of Time, quite literally because Kerapac used The Needle pull it from the past.
Very massive, and full of dinosaurs and aggressive plants. You could throw a stone in any direction and you're likely to hit some sealed off dragonkin ruins.
Now go over to OSRS, and it's simply known as Fossil Island.
It's a great deal smaller, and it's covered in, well, fossils. As well as mushrooms and aggressive ancient zygomites, unlike the friendly ones in anachronia.
There are fewer dragonkin ruins, and both islands don't exactly line up when compared.
Ironically, RS3 is screwing around in the past, bopping the dinos and plants millions of years back in a time bubble, and it's OSRS that's living in the present, digging up the fossils of said flora and fauna, scarily enough, they're probably the same fossils of the creatures you've slain millions of years ago! * *theremin music instesnifies* *
The dinos aren't dead because of meteors or ice ages, WE KILLED THEM ALL!
The islands don't match up because of millions of years of continental drifting!
Maybe I'm waaay off base, but it still gives me hope that there could be crossover events between both versions of the game.
Imagine this: You log in to osrs, and you bury a time capsule to send a message to your future-self/descendent/extra-anachronial-self in rs3. Then through some magical hooberyjoobery, you send a message back to your past self.
This could also be used to bridge some of the lore gaps/create paradoxes, i.e: Monkey Madness II doesn't happen in RS3 because our Glough was somehow informed of his failed genocide attempt in OSRS, and must then change his plans. You, the player, know beyond the shadow of a doubt what an insane monster Glough is, but who's gonna believe you? How can you prove Glough is as evil as you know he is?
We've already had a taste of parallel timelines with Dimension of Disaster, in which you experience a world where YOU don't exist.
LET'S EXPAND THAT USING OSRS AS A LORE CATALYST!
Subverting variables you couldn't possibly know about UNLESS you somehow were able to exist in another timeline's past!
GIVE US A REASON TO PLAY BOTH RS3 AND OSRS!

Woah. I wasn't ready for this but I loved every second of it. I've thought a lot about the lore parallels between both games too. I play both games (comped on RS3, quest Cape on OSRS), though mostly RS3 these days. It'd be great to know the answers to some of your questions here. Definitely noticed the Stone of Jas, Dragonkin, Fossil Island, etc. and I sometimes wonder where it stops and the other game begins. Maybe you're onto something with them being parallel universes of some sort. 🤓 Thanks for the comment.

Its anima mundi, not anima monda(y), stone of Jas was not used as storage for power and knowledge (thats what the Codex is used for, I know Raksha wasnt released back then, but dont give stone wrong description), but as source of power needed after the loss of Mah, narration is a bit chaotic jumping from subject to subject instead of giving short common intro (like describing shortly creation of Zaros, Seren and Mahjarrat) otherwise it was quite good
Thanks for the constructive criticism, man. When did I say Anima Monda(y)? I said Anima Mundi, I'm sure. Chaotic is this whole project... The lore is chaotic haha. We tried our best to organise it as effectively as possible. I think my description of the Stone of Jas wasn't inaccurate here.
@@TheBookOfRS you pronounce it as m(ou)(soft n)d(ei) while it should be m(hard u, similar to english "moon")(hard n)d(hard i, not english "eye" but i like in "in"). So in short you said something like mon-dei instead of moon-di.Try to listen to google translate "stupor mundi" in latin to notice the difference, you have right to your own pronunciation, but I got confused first time you said it. I didn't mean to shame you or anything. Lore is chaotic yes, I just wanted to point out it jumped from Mah to Zaros to Seren without really saying what connected them, It should say how and maybe why Mah created them, quick description of them both and their powers (their auras worked on each other, which weren't even mentioned), then how Zaros left and finally Mahjarrat, their relation with Mah and Seren (they didn't know they were channelling energy bach to Mah). I already described difference between Catalyst and the Codex, but I can say it again, Jas created Stone from her own egg (sacrificing her reincarnation in future revisions) as medium to fill power gap created after losing Mah, It acted as power source slowly burning whatever power Jas infused it with. Stone was used as tool in creation of worlds and and other lesser tools. Codex (as we have recently learnt) was used as storage for knowledge and power (this is how you described the Catalyst)

@@TheBookOfRS can't you just cut them out? You don't need to upload in 16:9 aspect ratio. Right now on a wide screen monitor I get youtube black bars of the sides and your rendered ones on top and bottom. If you upload in another ratio you can prevent that from happening to people.

Just watching this vid in 2024 and noticing something when you mention all of the Elder Artifacts, once you reach The Codex you give no info about it as if there was nothing, but the fact is that The Codex was already in game by the date you published the video, you might also know it as The Misterious Monolith, "Its primary purpose is to contain the Shadow Breach on Gielinor, but it also acts as a repository of knowledge and power".
