You should totally do a video on Sue, her schoolhouse, her stove, and how she knows about so many diverse types of vintage/antiques. I also want to know how you got involved in and knowledgeable about antiquing.
I am glad you got the jewelry box. To clean the felt, use the sticky side of masking tape and an old tooth brush to get into the corners. I am jealous. 😊
I have a jewelry box similar and my uncle brought it back to my mother after the Korean War. My music box stopped working but my husband oiled it and now it plays. I loved it as a child and love it as an adult.

Jocelyn you and Sue remind me of my sister and I. My sister was 10 years older than me. She and I were always out shopping at antique dealers in Mt Dora, FL. And all over Fl. She was collecting Blue Willow and Blue Ridge dishes in the 80s. We had so much fun together. She past away 2 years ago and I’m glad of every moment I had with her. My Sister was a art major and Sue sounds just like her. When you to addressed those horrid dolls and kitten collector plates I just had to laugh. You guys felt the same way we did. Thank you both for bringing some joy to my day. I love you both.

My mother had that music box. She got it as a wedding gift and they were married in ‘62.
I was in homegoods the other day and an old lady approached me asking if I knew where she could find ashtrays. She had been looking everywhere. I told her you won’t find them on store shelves anymore but to try the local goodwill. 😊

My Dad sent me a similar beautiful jewelry box in 1968 when he was in Vietnam. The soldiers were able to order things APO and have it sent home. I still have it :-)

I would say that jewelry box is from the early 70's. My mom had one that she got in Okinawa! We lived in Okinawa from 1970-1973. 😍

My grandfather brought one back from Japan back in the 50s when he was stationed there... it was left to my brother not me 😐
I once found a 1970's lite bright complete with the old original pegs, peg boards, box, instructions and it worked, at a goodwill buy the pound. I only paid $.99 for it and flipped it for $75.00 back when I used to sell on ebay. If you guys have a buy the pound around you, I'd suggest hitting it up, you can find some great vintage things there.

Nippon, YES!!! My Dad used to talk about it frequently but haven't looked at it in years. Found a Japanese ginger jar in my local thrift store but wasn't sure how to sell it because I just don't know much about it. I so wish you ladies were shopping with me. There are so many thrift stores in my area and even a Goodwill by the pound store in Nashville. An addict rescuer's heaven/nightmare. 😄😆

The chinese jewelry box is from the late 1960-early 1970's had an obsession with that type in jr. high and high school, BET there are others that still do. I still have 1 of them in storage. You 2 in a vid, sue in vintage jewelry, finding good stuff. Great start to a morning. That ash tray would make a great spoon rest in the kitchen by the way
you can unwind those by keep flipping the little spin wings on the mechanism(on the jewelry box)
I remember getting the aggregation game once as a Christmas present, I never even tried to learn how to play it, however, I think that it would be awesome to have now, can't hardly wait for the next video, I am absolutely hooked on the Crazy Lamp Lady channel!

I got a ceiling fan at goodwill today for only $3.50! Installed and it works. Even has a light on it. Deal of the century :)
I have a smaller jewelry box like that from Okinawa. From the latter 60’s early 70’s. I wish I had a special friend like Sue to go thrifting sometimes. Always cherish your friendship. Good haul.

Always fun to see what You and Sue find, and you never disappoint. That old fruit box reminds me of the huge stack of them that my brother in-law has in the barn out on his pear orchard. They have been used by the family for three generations, and are still in use, but boy would I like to get my hands on a few of them. I love old wood boxes like that. Glad to you found a few good things, which always beats nothing at all.

Cool find!!! the jewelry box 💍⛩ I had the almost, the exact same one in the 7os when I was a teen, my had red lining and of course a little different painting...My sister who was 10 years older than me got it as gift from a boyfriend who was in the military 1960s.......
"If it doesn't sell I'll keep it" translated from hoarder speak to English is 'I know this is a piece of junk but I'm a hoarder so I'll buy it anyway'. Lol if I bought that jewelry box and listed it to sell it would sit for years without interest even if the music box was working. Folks a word to the wise, never buy something because you can't find anything else, just simply leave the store. It's okay to leave with nothing. It's much easier to sell items when you have a popular CZcams channel with subs who will buy your stuff just remember that. Jocelyn worked for it though and has earned that so this is not a complaint or gripe it's just a note for any people looking to start selling on eBay or Etsy. If you buy the same types of things she's buying don't expect your stuff to sell like hers will it's a different ball game for her. Selling glassware and ceramics online is brutal. I'm not trying to crush dreams I'm stating facts. She opened her eBay store and almost instantly had over 200 followers. Most resellers will never see that many followers.

That was probably an orchard crate. They are extremely sturdy. I used 2 upside down to hold a 20 gal. aquarium, for years.
You know that Uncle Si Chia Pet, Well infact it's his birthday today so Happy Birthday uncle Si, lol.
I did too found some good stuff at thrift stores over the years, wedgewood, early Blenko, original artwork, etc. but I like jewelry better. I find far more expensive things, precious metals, stone, designer, watches, collectibles. They are easier to sell, and they take less space.

My grandfather was stationed in Japan with the Navy back in the 50s and he bought and brought home a jewelry/music box identical too that box in this video. No joke. The box is still in the family. Ours has red material lining it instead of blue, and ours has a picture painted on the mirror inside and the music still plays. My older brother has the box. I always hated that it wasnt left too me lol

Tiki collector here. Yay! One dollar! Good find. Look for Orchids of Hawaii on bottom, but they were made in Japan. Those are the ones from the 50-70s era. Tiki Farm is a "now" producer and they are highly sought after, since they do limited runs. Love your vids!

I grew up with my mom having that jewelry box on her dresser. Sailboat sails were inlay abalone ....in my eyes it was magical since there seemed to be movement in the sails.
