This is the definition of a true hidden gem. While it's true that Ferry Corsten was the definition of mainstream trance in the late 90s and 2000s, these remixes of tracks by forgotten artists were not easy to find until we had the technology to just type in "Ferry Corsten Remix". Ferry Corsten clearly understands what makes a good trance track better than almost anyone: beautiful and uplifting (but sometimes quite melancholy) chords and arpeggios, catchy basslines, and (relatively) simple drum programming, combined with excellent EQing and just the right amount of compression (which is to say not very much to all you modern trance artists). I met Ferry on vacation in Boston when he was touring with Markus Schulz under the name New World Punx, because he picked me exclusively (out of an audience of about 2000) to come on stage. I guess based on how excited I got when a specific and not very well known track was played, he realized that unlike most people who were in the audience I'm a true fan of trance. Ferry seemed like a cool dude from the short time I spent with him. I would do anything for this kind of trance to come back. If heaven exists and I'm not greeted me with trance music (and good drugs LOL), I don't wanna go to heaven!
Amen brother. These tunes were something else. To see what Tiesto and Van Buuren have gone to now really saddens me to cater for the noisy electric sound/mainstream i guess. They were masters at pure trance, many of us miss the old sound.

Around this time we used to plow through Wax, M8, DJ Mag, Mixmag etc for record reviews and then hit the local record stores to see what they'd got in or could order. There was a reasonable internet presence from big labels and big record stores in 2000 (Juno etc), so you could still find things. It definitely wasn't as easy today though, you're right.

This is one of the best tracks on Gatecrasher Red - my second favourite Trance album behind Gatecrasher Disco-Tech. Really stands out half way through disc one
Gatecrasher had a “Red n Black” night at the Republic in Sheffield. That stabbing bassline nearly knocked the place over.

That's the og mix he played on the first trance nation in 99 then he played this version on trance nation 2 I still got both compilations
@@trancemaster871 yessir you're absolutely right it was the OG version on TN1. You can definitely hear the difference side by side. System F's mix is badass but the original holds a special place in my heart. You know your stuff T.M. and are deserving of your title 🙌

@@MichaelBoogerd the first trance nation is what got me into the whole trance scene. I was around 12 or 13 when I bought that cd with my paper round wages!
I agree that cd 2 was the bomb back then but as I got older I appreciated cd1 too! And I actually enjoyed trance nation 3 also, some belters on that compilation

I remember how difficult it was to find this track on cassettes in Ukraine back in 2000 (giant shame that CDs were too expensive for most of us, vinyls were just something from another world or Hollywood movies). And in that time this track was two heads higher and 10 years ahead of everything that we heard on tape. Any other trance track was just a "kid's tinkering around the synths" comparing to THIS.
