I'm a first year general music teacher and your ideas have been wonderful. Thank you for sharing. Your students are luck to have you as their music teacher.

Once upon a time there was a mouse that lived all alone in the attic.
One day, he met a girl mouse and the two of them fell in love and they got married.
They had 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, beautiful babies, plus the boy mouse, plus the girl mouse is how many mice?
They got kinda lonely up there and so they had the idea to have a dance party. Those ten little mice invited their best friends the rabbits.
But the rabbits didn't want to come all by themselves, so they invited the squirrels.
    And they invited the snakes.
And the snakes invited their friends the woodpeckers.
The woodpeckers invited their friends, the horses.
And the horses invited the big, strong, ginormous elephants.
And the elephants saw their friends the teeny tiny mice.
Elephants are terrified of mice, and when they saw those teeny tiny mice they stampeded away.
So loud that it scared the horses, why galloped away.
Scaring the woodpeckers who flew away.
Scaring the snakes who slithered away.
Which scared the squirrels who scampered away.
Scaring the bunny rabbits who hopped away.
And once again, they were left with 10 teeny tiny mice all alone in the attic.

This is awesome! I'm used to teaching HS and now I'm general music K-5. My kinders have been asking to play instruments more and it scares me to put more into their hands than small instruments. This is definitely something I can do. I love it! Even the little guy up front climbing his drum stayed involved and engaged. :) Thanks!

Welcome to elementary!!! If you ever need more ideas, I just made a website built for teachers: www.bowtiemusic.net. Hope it's a good transition :)

Oh awesome! I never knew where this came from originally. I learned it from my cooperating teacher Josh Southard during my student teaching. I'll have to look up Drumagination :)
