Just a suggestion, you can remove the diffusers and soak them overnight in white vinegar... they will be like brand new next day 👍🏼 Merry Christmas everyone 🌲
I was going to say the same thing. I find it satisfying when they are soaking then they work like new. :)
I just hopped onto the comments to say the same thing. White vinegar is great for anywhere that you have hard water build up. Merry Christmas 🎄
@@2slayme 🥰 me too! Same with old secateurs that have rusty blades ... once I start with a project like that, I am looking everywhere for what else I can soak 😅
@@jenniferbannon9854 Merry Christmas 🌲
I was about to make the same comment 😊
Please put that little yellow sprayer for watering seeds in your shop😁
Yes please !
Hi Laura, if you soak the heads of the water diffusers in regular household vinegar for a few minutes it will clear out the clogged hard water spots, then you won't have to purchase more. I have to do that with my shower head. I just put some vinegar in a ziplock type bag and rubber band it around the shower head. You could also set them in a bowl (doesn't need to cover the whole thing, just the end)
I'll have to try that...thank you. :)
Maybe a large plastic bag, like the kind that our clothes come back from the cleaners. It’s clear and thin. You could just drop it over the planter. It would keep the humidity in until seeds germinate.
Good idea, Moni
Now I wish I used the dry cleaners more often!
Did anyone else run down to their kitchen and grab a wine bottle opener after watching this video? What a great idea. I normally take a drill with the tiny little drill bit to clear out the drain holes in my pots. Now i'm just gonna use my wine bottle opener. Laura, you're absolutely brilliant. This is why I love watching your videos. I always learn something new.🤣💗
Nope! I’d rather use my wine opener for its intended purpose….opening my wine 🤣
@Inkydoo I should have said that I have several different wine bottle openers. I have one that is similar to the one she used. I haven't used it in years. At least it will get a second life in the garden...lol. 🤣💗
soak the head of watering wand with vinegar to remove hard water deposits
Soak your diffusers in white vinegar to clean out water deposits. I watch everyday and love your content.
Also helps to clean my glass bird baths - and my cement one too! pour in and let it soak for a few minutes, 15 minutes is good. then scrub with a plastic scrub sponge . rinse and refill.
Tip: the clear tube that comes with the spinning base is actually perfect for the center hole while working on the layers so debris doesn’t fall into the gray disc below.
Nail polish remover removes the ink from sharpies and garden markers! Allows you to reuse those plastic tags over and over! Thanks for the inspiration as always!!
I have so badly wanted a small Greenhouse since your inspiration. It would make overwintering plants and starting my seeds so much easier.
And there is that beautiful water mister for the Seedlings. Wish you carried it in your shop.
Oh me too ! What fun it would be especially in winter.
I bought that mister last season and love it to pieces!@@vickieyoung7122
Maybe you all could add that yellow pumping water sprayer bottle to your garden answer store to sell!! 🤞👌👍👏
The galvanized planter is still available on Gardner's Supply and it's on sale! Just ordered me two! Thanks Laura!
My only regret when I watch your videos is that I am 83 and not 38. So much good information. I still say that Samantha Grace is your mom’s mini me. So cute. 😊
For your diffusers (and all taps and showerheads that plug up with hard water) you can fill a baggie with vinegar and put the head in it overnight. I use an elastic to hold the bag closed. Works great!
I really want to enjoy the vegetables, fruit, and herbs a little more this year. I get so focused on flowers, but nothing quite like the things you grow that fuel your body.
Here's what I've done to clear the hard water gunk from my water diffusers, pour hot vinegar over them and let them soak overnight. Presto!! Clean diffusers. Also works for kitchen and bathroom faucets too. Just unscrew the end piece of your tap and soak them. I hope this helps.
Good to know about the pelleted seeds. I didn’t know about the shelf live being reduced with those. It’s so cool to learn new things here!
Hey Laura 👋 😊 I use dry cleaner suit bags for moisture retention. Just buy them at local dry cleaners. I bet they would fit over your green stocks😊❤
I'm surprised they don't include a clear plastic stalk-sleeve
Did the Misto mister ever come to market? Would love to find one. Thanks for your gardening inspiration.
This is very inspiring for me who just moved from San Diego to Sweden and miss growing food in the winter.
the sped up part where you can hear her talk reminds me of the Sims. i liked it. 😄
Purchased the Green Stock system from your shop. Thank you for the refresher of how to set it up. Can't wait to get started. Because of the deer and rabbits I thought I'd try this off my kitchen deck. I actually love the visits from the local wildlife.
I have a couple of towers because of all the rabbits eating everything else. Really helps! They're cute but they'll jump in my containers right in front of me and start eating.
@@Lisa-zp4pc Yes, I call out "Rabbit in the pot." as if it's for supper when the rabbits visit. My parents supplied rabbits to the local butcher until one heat wave during May my dad went deer hunting and left mom my with 4 children under 5yrs. She was spraying down the hutches and then turning the hose on her kids!
It's so satisfying when you get things cleaned up and ready to start again. I've already got the itch to get my seeds started. Depending on how you arrange your pots, I sometimes use a Dollar Store shower cap to cover them if I don't have a dome. Since watching your channel, I have wanted to paint my white picket fence black, add a berry bed and plant more bulbs!
"A little bit of parsley, so two pockets" LOL Meanwhile I struggle to keep up with one!
Laura, soak your hose ends in Lime Away. Works for shower heads as well.
Or white vinegar
Could you soak your hose diffusers in vinegar to remove the hard water deposits?
Could you soak your water wand diffusers in vinegar or CLR to remove the build-up? Great video as always!
Hang up a bunch of that thyme in the chicken house or put some in nesting boxes . Smells lovely.
Laura, you can put your diffusers in vinegar water and soak overnight and they'll be like new!
Roasted radishes taste like potatoes, shockingly.😮😊
I never thought to cook radishes. I want to try it out.
Love fried radishes and turnips I use in place of baked potatoes.
Good morning, Laura, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b
I have just gotten a few seed packets from Baker's Creek Heirloom Seeds and I'm planning my winter garden.
Happy Gardening, Everyone 👩🌾👍
And Merry Christmas 🎅🎄🤶
❤Peggy❤
I just moved to Florida from KS and I’ve been looking for a fellow zone 9 fan! 🎉❤
@jessicaf316 Well hi Jessica. I hope you are enjoying your first winter without snow ⛄️ ❄️
Are you close to Windermere?
I live near the Space Center. This is the hardest place to grow thing's because of the salt air. Unless, of course the tried and true... I keep trying different things though. I think my problem is over spray from reclaimed water. Hard to keep it off edibles.
FYI the the white plastic plant tags clean up well with rubbing alcohol and a magic eraser. Happy Holidays!!!🎆🎄☃🎁🎉
I just started some lettuce as well ^_^
I started a leaf lettuce for my pet duck and pigeon and this week I'll be starting some head lettuce for us.
I have that iceberg lettuce seed and grew it last year, it was so much better then what we get in the stores, store bought always tastes like chemicals to me, this tasted like nice crispy lettuce.
Where do you get that little water mister? I converted my front porch to a greenhouse and have to carry all my trays into my house to water them. Quite the pain for this old lady. One of those misters would make my life so much easier.
Put the hose head in vinegar and soak it for an hour (15 mins if you do it regularly). Pour inside as well as in a dish so it gets really in there. It will dissolve the lime scale. (also great for shower heads)
Beautiful work from Gardening with Kirk.
I bet that Rosemary smelled so good! One of my favorite herbs..very nice poster! Up instead of out , space saving yummmy
It’s so satisfying to clean up plants to start new ones 🎄🎄
Laura, to remove the hard water build-up in your watering wand, soak the watering head in cleaning vinegar for a few hours (or overnight), then using a stiff-bristled brush, scrub the water diffuser head, thus removing the dissolved hard water deposits. I too have terribly hard water, and cleaning vinegar helps remove that buildup. I love watching your videos, but I usually don't leave comments. Blessings to you and your sweet family. ~Margie🤗🎄☃
How fun cleaning up those towers. And the rest of the pots you planted.
Thank you for the information and idea...to create something that needs attention and nurturing, while we work through family loss from December.
Hmm spinach seeds, check, planters, check, plastic wrap, check! Get growing, YES! Thanks Laura!
Rogue spinach seed! 😂😂😂 loved this video. Definitely “itching” for the ‘green’ here in gloomy NYC (thank God for Christmas!)
So you are blessed to have such a lovely area to plant in the winter,
Thank you Laura for planting today....getting your hands dirty....I needed that...we are on vacation and I'm away from my garden and I needed a garden answer fix😂❤
Merry Christmas and a happy new year everybody 🎉❤😊🎉❤😊
Hi Laura 😀 have you ever tried CLR for removing hard water mineral deposits? You should try it on your water wand diffusers, in my experience it works better than anything else I’ve tried. We have had water too 😛
For hard water you can soak your water wand heads in white vinegar then rinse. It will dislodge hard water deposits.. We do it with our shower heads. just an FYI.
I love that green stalk! I added that to my Christmas wish list for my husband. Well, actually, I just sent him the "Garden Answer Store" link and said... any or all of this, please~ 😉 The galvanized tin set is super cute, too! I love the idea of using that for fresh cut flowers. I would probably err on the safe side and use individual liners in each one just in case. Can't wait to see the progress on the seeds!♡
Good morning, Everyone!!
Can you soak those diffuser in a bucket, perhaps a milk jug of vinegar or lime away to clean them?
ahhhh, so satisfying to see things trimmed back for a refresh... i love my vertical planter... my granddaughter loves to pick her strawberries from it... isn't it great to be able to grow things all year long?? love all your growing spaces!! ☺❤thanks for the video!! ☺❤
I’m totally getting one of those planters!!
I told my husband I wanted a GreenStalk and he got me a raised 2x4 planter with wheels on one end last summer. I still haven't managed to get soil in it. His heart was in the right place.

@@cindyhenry1410 yes!! they are great!! 🥰
Hello Laura and family
Thank you for all the Gardening tips for 2023.
Wish u a happy and prosperous new year. Have a good one 2024
That hands-on-hips smiling pose after clearing the plant tower was beyond cute, like Shirley Temple level cuteness.
GardenAnswers: Morning Sweet Laura, and Family. Time to clean and do some winter planting, so much fun, your strawberry our looking great. Have a great day, Laura, Sending my love and God's blessings to you all. Wanda In N E Ok
I use hairpins to hold my runners . They work perfectly. Also I use a wine stopper in my greenstalks when I am working with them and want to plug the holes and that way I have 2 hands to work with.
I hope someone used those wonderful herbs!!!
There are so many greens we plant here in Georgia after our summer crops are done, and we clean it all out and plant our seeds in September. Turnip greens, collard greens are two favorite. They can freeze and still be good.
Same here in MS. I am harvesting my broccoli right now and I swear it tastes better now than any other time of year.
Johnny seed charge $7 to ship a pack of seeds it would be good to let people know that for is that cant afford to spend$12 for a pack of seeds
Bakers Creek has free shipping.
I wonder if you’ve ever considered using a water filter between your faucet and the hose link connection? An RV water filter would be perfect and would help tremendously with your hard water. I enjoyed watching this project. It’s tempting me to bring one of my stacks inside in my finished basement where I keep the temp at 67°. 🧐🤔
Hi Laura, you have inspired me. I've purchased a small walk in Greenhouse but It doesn't have heat or electricity. Do you have any suggestions for starting seedlings with out using a grow light? My mother (age 93) had 4 big brothers who started a garden store over 70 years ago. They are all gone now but every time we watch you it brings memories back to her and she wishes they were here to watch you too.
Diane from Boston
Great video! I can’t bet your planting in December.
I needed to see some planting. Makes me happy to see this video.
This has me wanting to grow some lettuce and spinach. Thanks for the push!!
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day ❤🎄
GREAT VIDEO for all of us with no space! Thank you so much.
You do impressive one-handed work. Good job with the camera in the other.
Laura, you could soak your diffusers in CLR and save some $.
You’ve got me itching to get some greens growing 🙂
I love my Felco snips-I use them more than the regular pruners! They are so lightweight and not bulky. My only suggestion-tell Felco to include a rubber tip cover for the blades when closed. I carry them in my pocket and have poked myself in the leg while bending down. Fun video, now I feel like planting seeds. 😊
i would cover it in a large garbage bag to keep humidity in!!
Clear shower curtains or painting tarp would work to cover green stocks.
Hi Laura! I'm thinking about writing for a grant for some Greenstalk towers for our elementary school garden club.🧑🌾Question: Do you find they hold up in your wind when you've had them outside?
Are you going to give roasted radishes a try next month? It's a good thing your parents like radishes either way though. :D
Off topic but how is the Old Christmas Cactus you repotted doing. Thank you for all information and inspiration.
A month or so ago, she answered that question on the Highlights channel and said they had heard nothing concerning it. My suspicion is it's fine. Otherwise, the owner would have complained to the garden center if it wasn't.
Those galvanized containers are adorable. The rosemary is so happy! I want to plant some kale and carrots. Thank you for the inspiration and information.
Always good to be planting!
This was perfect! And fortuitous my husband bought me one of these for Christmas from you. Plus other yummy things lol. But I don’t have much space and Ive been coveting one. It was fantastic watching what you plant and how. Such great timing!
Good morning GA! That's awesome! Blessings 💞🙏
Very useful!
I will defenately start my seeds.
Thanks for reminding us.❤❤❤❤
Good morning! Have a great day!
Good morning!🌻🐝
Great video today and lots of great advice on seeds.
It's so wonderful to see something being grown from seed in the winter!
Great video! Puts me in the mood!❤❤❤
Good morning from Delaware Garden Answer friends.
Another great winter inspiration by Garden Answer!💚
Hi Laura! Thanks for sharing!
Good morning Laura! Thank you for this video. Hugs from N.C..❤
Good good evening to everyone...
I love your flowers
I'm so ready to get some seeds started! I have my turneric sprouting but I think I need to get some greens going!
Has anyone tried flowers in these vertical planters? I’d like to try and have a flower tower like Disney has throughout their parks.
Great planting. Love it. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I just ordered one from your shop can't wait to figure out what food I can grow!!
Satisfying video with so much accomplished & so much useful information. Thank you Laura!
