CARNIVAL CELEBRATION Decked! A behind the scenes, top-to-bottom tour of Carnival's newest ship

  • Join Peter Knego for one of his most detailed Decked! top-to-bottom tours of the massive new CARNIVAL CELEBRATION. What sets the CARNIVAL CELEBRATION apart from her two Excel Class LNG-powered sisters MARDI GRAS (2021) and CARNIVAL JUBILEE (due in late 2023) is her Golden Jubilee Lounge. Commemorating Carnival's 50 year anniversary in 2022, the Golden Jubilee has many artifacts Knego rescued from Carnival's long since scrapped early ships, including a huge glass wall from the MARDI GRAS (ex EMPRESS OF CANADA) and a brass bridge telegraph from the CARNIVALE (ex EMPRESS OF BRITAIN), among other treasures. In addition to every passenger area, this tour includes a visit to the bridge and engine room and also includes fascinating and insightful commentary from Carnival Cruises Glenn Aprile, Director Newbuilds Product Development and Richard Pruitt, VP of Environmental Operations. Aprile shares many of the architectural concepts behind the ship's six "Fun Zones" and Pruitt shares some of the machinery and recycling areas. THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL CRUISE SHIP VIDEO TOUR but like the others, it does include all the highlights of life on board and the myriad food offerings, as well. Music licensed from Artlist includes: "Lovely Soul" by Stefano Mastronardi; "Calm Me" by Alex Keren; "Upstairs" by Alon Ohana; "Ready To Go" by Asayaf Alayon; "Fiesta Del Sol" by Evert Z; "The Walkabout" by Brandu; "Coral Beach" by Italy Kashti; "Summer" by Twin Signals; "Island" by Sunny Fruit and "Electrifying" by Stefano Mastronardi. Live music from the Golden Jubilee Lounge by resident pianist Oscar Alejandro is also used with his kind permission. #carnival #carnivalcruise #carnivalcelebration #newshiptours

    [1] Many thanks for sharing with us the glories of newly built mega-ships! I am admiring the range of decors, lighting, uses of spaces, shapes and designs of spaces, the immense investments that cruise-lines have made in artwork and historical curation, including turning landings and staircases between decks into miniature art-galleries! Truly, there is nothing like a cruise-ship and no vacation like a cruise-vacation....

    Wonderful, Peter. How wonderful to see all these fittings you've rescued implemented on the Celebration. What a rich historical narrative this ship carries with her through these items. Well done, thank you.

      Thank you. Yes, of course, they are sisters. In my video, Glenn explained many of the subtle differences and, of course, the Golden Jubilee, which is unique to the CELEBRATION. Hope to get aboard MARDI GRAS at some point.

    Beautiful ship inside and out.
    I agree about the steakhouses on Carnival ships. They are the best at sea... and land for that matter.

    Awesome video. Thanks for this I was looking for a good video with the deck plans. I enjoy your videos. I find them well articulated, informative, and and very interesting. I'll be on her in August. Now you gotta do a decked video on the original Celebration.

    • @midshipcinema
      @midshipcinema  Před 11 měsíci

      Thanks so much, Kyle. I always try to use deck plans with my Decked! video tours as they really give an idea about the overall layout. I did do a decked of HOLIDAY but my CELEBRATION footage during her Carnival years is somewhat limited, so when I get to her, it may be a scaled down look or maybe a full tour of her as GRAND CELEBRATION a year or two before she was withdrawn and scrapped.

    i just sailed her recently. was a wonderful crew and ship. i admit i'm a bourbonista, and i loved the smoked manhattans from the golden jubilee. i wish i had seen this video first so i could have more appreciated that space, and your efforts to preserve the past.

    Bravo, Peter! What a terrific and informative video, wth so many layers and meaningful details! I especially enjoyed The Golden Jubilee, with treasures of Carnival's past, many rescued by you (bravo again!) and the Joe Farcus architectural drawings and other significant elements, all masterfully put together by Glenn Aprile and his colleagues. You really get an appreciation for Carnival's role in cruise history from this space. And I smiled to see Rich Pruitt giving a behind-the-scenes tour of the machinery and recycling areas. Nobody explains these important places and processes better than Rich!

    Wonderful tour, best one that I have seen so far for the Celebration. Very informative and a lot of helpful hints that we will be sure to take with us on our upcoming cruise in April aboard the Celebration. Thank you so much for putting this video together I know they are a lot of work but so many of us do love seeing them❤ DO you have any footage of the Carnival Tropicale? That was my first ship I sailed on and got me hooked since.

    • @midshipcinema
      @midshipcinema  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Thanks so much. I'm so happy that this tour is being enjoyed and appreciated. I did get footage of TROPICALE in New Orleans way back in 1996 or so. It was a very gloomy day but happy to have it in retrospect. I may do a "tour" of her at some point as she was a very important ship in the development of Carnival and cruising in general. Many thanks and all the best, Peter

    Thank you for the excellent tour : with this ship Carnival appear to have enhanced their product again. I would like to sail on her having only been on Celebrity ships so far. The beautiful artefacts you rescued with foresight and determination really are set off to perfection in the Golden Jubilee bar and I do like the sympathetic modern tiles and chairs and diorama.

    Amazing video again, Peter! This is the best Decked so far. Image quality and editing are top notch 👍🏻
    About the ship itself: it is so big, opulent and overwhelming, that I don't know what to think about it. I can understand people will love it, but I think I'm more of a Hurtigruten person myself 😉

      @midshipcinema  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Thanks so much for watching, Frank. She is, indeed, overwhelming. Even in one week, I barely was able to see and experience the entire ship. With you on Hurtigruten, lol. :)

    [2] Postscript: as amazing as a 6,500-passenger capacity sounds for this newest iteration of Carnival Celebration, (recycling the name after nearly 40 years [smile]) I paused to consider that its 19 decks are far short of Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas (22 or more decks?)....and especially marvel that Celebration's roughly 180,000 tons are dwarfed by Icon of the Sea's more than 250,000 tons! . . . and capacity for over 7,500 guests....which, plus employees, means the world now has cruise-ships capable of carrying over 10,000 people at once!
