    Toward the end of that era. I turned 16 that summer, soon had other interests that crowded out moter racing. Those drivers were heroes!

    I was at this race and what I remember most is those Chaparral 2Fs. That Chevvy engine sounded like a tank!

    When cars had souls, a menacing temperament, and their brave drivers had the balls to question their widow-making character. The golden age of motorsport in every sense.

    This is great people and car spotting information in this rare footage, the nifty soundtrack doesnt do any harm either... The battle scarred #21 Scarfiotti/Parkes Ferrari 330 P4 @5:00 is just an awesome sight, 2nd place to the mighty Ford MK4 GT40 but the sinuous lines of Maranellos legendary short-lived prototype is mesmerising

      - Obrigado Franzzo !
      - A ultima informação que tive do criativo e capaz João Mendes, foi de que ele estava fazendo documentários curtos sobre esporte-motor.
      - Ouvi que ele andou fazendo alguma coisa sobre o "Circuito das Gávea" .

    I always thought the 330 P4 was a very sexy GTP, right up there with the beautiful GT 40 MKIV! I saw the MKIV in the Henry ford Museum in 1975, my senior year of auto Tecgh in high school. I also tested 5th in my state out of 175,000 auto tech students.

    • @xenophonleonidas4678
      @xenophonleonidas4678 Před 7 lety

      When you saw the MK IV at the Henry Ford Museum in 1975 was it described as the winner of Le Mans 1967?

    • @lucasm8016
      @lucasm8016 Před 5 lety

      For me, the 330 P4 was the most beautiful GTP ever designed. The Porsche 917 coming Very close in 2nd and the Ford GT MKIV 3rd. I was a car design engineer for 31 years.

      Lucas M To me the 906 was the prettiest Porsche. Just personal opinion. Also I love & always have loved the aggressive look of the 66 Ford GT40. The P4 though I saw one a few times, that was a beautiful car. 3 of my all time favourite cars.

    FORZA FERRARI !!

  • @Pulsonar
    @Pulsonar Před 9 lety +3

    @1:42 The Ferrari of Guichet/Muller should read 412P (not 421P). It did not finish the race, and it crashed in the 1966 LM 24H (before it was converted from 330 P3 to 412P spec. ). It was 4th in Monza in April 1967, the highest placing in a 6 race lifetime for chassis #0848. Its unfortunate that FIA ruling virtually squeezed all the Ferrari P3 and P4 derivative racers out of the 1968 season. I reckon Ferrari could have thrown a few more heavy punches at Ford, and delayed the emergence of Porsche and Matra as future WSC contenders.

    THE ONLY WAY TO BEAT 3000cc FERRARI 1966 ,WAS TO COMPITE WITH A FORDT GT 40, OF 7.000 cc AINT THAT FAIR PLAY ?.
    DURING 1968 FERRARI PUT ON THE TRACK OF LE MANS A 4000 cc VERSION,BUT THE GREASY CONCEPT TECHNOLOGY OF FORD,WAS TO maintain the 7000 cc.
    Salute Cowboys of Dearborn ,you always win . I,ve forgotten,....the chassis of the car was english not american,and engine derivation from Ducworth and Costin .

      +lorenzo uccheddu, Ford wins in 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969. Toyota with its millions of 30 years can not win at Le Mans.
