Hey everyone! In this video I give a brief overview of the different types of VFX artist. My hope is that this video serves as an introduction to the umbrella that is VFX. I didn't go too in depth since I wanted to show new comers that there are so many different branches (even many I didn't touch on in this video) and that as they develop, these sections become more apparent as separate things. I will be following this up with a video series explain what each different type of artist does but I wanted to start here.

Hey man I just found out your channel and you cleared one of the confusions I had for so long. I'm an aspiring filmmaker and want to implement some of the 3D elements and specially artificial environment in my films (green screen if you may). Im confused what software should I start learning, Nuke or After effects?
Oh, I use 3ds Max for Archviz (my current job) and Premiere pro for video editing, color grading etc (also current job).
Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Nuke is very powerful

Aftereffects,nuke compositing
Maya,zbrush for 3d modelling
Mocha, silhout -rotoscoping
Photoshop,illirater -for photo editing
Please study this type of software

What a VFX Editor do????please answer
Simple
They will make what a director want to do in their movie
That cannot be done in normal Life
The Vfx edditor cuts the vfx shots into the edit . They keep the edit updated with the latest vfx shots for review. Some places they run dailies they are also responsible for bringing footage online and sending the final shots to the client from the Vfx house.
A VFX editor is not the same thing as a VFX artist and Michael explained it perfectly. He’s absolutely correct. I’m making a video explaining all the different positions in VFX that’ll be coming out soon! Stay tuned. :)
