    What do you all think of the new Nisi lenses?

    • @ConstructionKronies
      @ConstructionKronies Před 6 měsíci

      NICE!! I have been using the NISI 4x4.65 filters with the Tilta Mini Matte Box (but like the new NISI one) I have been eyeing these lenses up! Thanks for the vid bro!

    So well covered, thank you for taking the time to make this video. Using the joker figure for the color comparison was really clever, got range of colors in a small space and was easy to compare. I think, at their price point, the NISI lenses offer a lot and will make sense for a lot of people.

      Thanks! Honestly your comment made me decide to make the video so I appreciate it. Made sure I got all the titles right this time hahaha

    Sigmas are much shaper ….. not just slightly …. And at f1.5 vs f1.9 …. That means a lot to me …. Thanks for the test !

      Do you find yourself using T1.5 a lot? I’ve learned that I don’t really go faster than T2.4, which is why I put the sigma and nisis on the back burner

      @@paoloa424 lol I actually shoot my videos at t1.5

      Yes, I do use f1.5, but always planning ahead as things get out of focus easily if you are not careful.

    Quick question -
    would you consider the 7artisans primes any good?

      For the price they are great! Compared they definitely have flaws

  • @OsirisDiamonds
    @OsirisDiamonds Před 6 měsíci

    Great test. The sharpness and color between lenses are the real reason they are priced the way they are. Still a great bargain for starting off.

    I heard issues with the back focus possibly hitting speedbooster elements. I rarely use a speed booster these days, so I know its not as much as an issue for some. But did you notice any back element movement when dialing in focus? I understand its impossible while on camera, but when moving the focus ring and looking into the rear element. Is the focus adjustment built into the back of the lens?

    • @Ansonandco
      @Ansonandco  Před 5 měsíci +1

      So I was using the mirrorless option, so all focusing was covered up, but I have seen that with the PL mount variant

    Do Nisi Athenas have a greenish yellow tint? From what I have seen here and other places on YT, they seem to have some kind of tint.

    I am looking for "budget" cine lenses but I think I will not consider the Nisi just because the back element moves and therefore they cannot be used with speedboosters. However I really like how clean they are. For what I can see online I could get the DZOs or save some money with the 7artisans vision or Sirui nightwalkers (not really a fan of the last one). However for a better and future proof purchase I would like to find some full frame lenses. Have you tried any Irix lenses? The ideal lens would have low aberation, colour matching and decent focus breathing.
    And thank you for this video, I find it very informative!

    The NISI seem like nice lenses. I don’t have them because I like the option of ef mount. But the Sigma’s are a different league. You can get a full 11 lens set with electronic communication and they are almost a stop faster. One of the rental companies did a tear down and confirmed that they are very well built as well. Also, you can buy a used set very cheaply right now. There major flaw is that they were designed as photo lenses and have the resulting focus breathing and lack of character that goes with that.

    • @Ansonandco
      @Ansonandco  Před 6 měsíci +1

      The focus breathing is definitely a huge issue, but I don’t mind it. I will say that CAN produce some slight characteristic charms, you just have to find their “weaknesses”. I was very surprised on some of the flaring

    • @mtscott44
      @mtscott44 Před 3 měsíci

      @@Ansonandco The sigma cine 50 has a very odd (and problematic) flare....light a white backgroup, no direct light, lens wide open, and BAM...a huge green orb engulfs the frame. At first you might not notice it (since it's huge), but it's there and tints the image. Can be seen better if you put a curve on it. Anyway, just my findings since shooting with them for a few years now.

    to see chromatic aberration you'd need to point to some really bright and look at fringes, especially in the corner or sides of the frame
