I think its really emotional when 10th is talking to Wilfred about his death and he says... "Even if I change it feels like dying. Everything I am dies, some new man goes sauntering away. And I'm DEAD!

I personally hated that scene, I much prefer 11s speech which is basically the exact opposite, in my opinion, it isn’t the doctor scared of death, it’s the actor sad that he has to leave the role
With each new Doctor, they learn from there previous self. That said, 11 learned to accept it. 12 though was finally ready to rest, but then later on was willing to change.
I think 12th "Please, just see me" is one of the saddest scenes in the show. Clara traveled with 11. They really loved each other. And just because he changed his face, she can't recognize him. Imagine how you would feel if you look at your girl but she doesn't know who you are. It really broked my heart

Not really in Tennant's case. Moffat gave him the chance to stay on, but he chose to leave with RTD.

@@selahattinkocak3421 Pertwee and Tom Baker stayed much longer than that, and Colin Baker + Sylvester McCoy planned to. No actor who's played the role has gone in specifically with the intention to do three years. It's just what's ended up happening for the last while.

I cried for David's. That is how I would choose to go, though. Saying goodbye to my loved ones in the way they knew me best, not in a hospital bed withered away. May God grant me that.
Out of every regeneration I believe that John Hurt was the most emotionally distraught. Paul McCann decided to change so he could fight in the war, John fought, survived and was left with PTSD of sorts. He is a true vet to the the core and when the war was ended he was left without a purpose. Too many times our veteran's cries go unheard because we think of them as the strongest of all of us. Yet John Hurt chose to regenerate immediately following the moment he was alone without purpose. To me that screams suicide. To me I see his moment of regeneration as the single saddest moment of the entire show. He died because he had no purpose and the overwhelming black in the universe was too much for him. yet he was so strong in doing so....
The respective incarnation dies though.

for a source of regeneration being akin to death, how about what tennit's incarnation himself says in the special for his regeneration. He says himself that everything he is dies, and a new man goes sauntering away
CodeKillerz the doctor himself even sees it as dying remember he even said "I don't want to die" right before regenerating yes he is still the same person but if you loose your own personality and image for new ones with he same memories are you the same person or did you die just to be reborn
We all go through something similar every 7 years, all our cells are replaced eventually. We all change, we're all different people all through our lives

The doctor is like an unfinished book.
You start to write one chapter, but eventually the chapter must end. Not satisfied with your work, you begin the next, sometimes bringing back things from the previous chapters to the next.
Eventually you will stop writing for a time, for one reason or another, just as eleven got tired of changing, but eventually you both continue.
And then, comes _The_ End. The true end. With every chapter you end, and every chapter you start, The True End gets closer and closer. But you never really want it to end, no matter how good or bad the book has gotten, because it can always be better.
They doctor has not reached the end of his book, but some day he will, whether he or us wants him to or not.
We all change when you think about it; we are all different people, all through our lives. And that's okay, that's good. You've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people you used to be. I will not forget one line of this, not one day.

Im still crying when i see his regeneration. I lost a friend this day. I lost my doctor.

Still feel like "I will always remember when The Doctor was me" is the best last line. It just speaks so much to how this show and its characters transcend the people who write and play them. The actors have talked about playing The Doctor as if they're not a role that belongs to them in particular but a gift they get to share for a short time. And when their job comes to an end The Doctor still lives on without them, intentionally and with welcome change. I really don't think you can say that about any other franchise.

9 will always be my favourite doctor and they way he leaves happy with a smile but the pain of knowing it will never be the same tears me to pieces every time i see it, and on a personal theory note being unable to feel like he did enough in the regeneration after the war doctor never enough to repent

@@BigFatCock0 The regeneration sequence was definitely a bit odd, but the circumstances of the episode were heartbreaking. Did you ever see it? I definitely recommend, if not. The Timelords took his companions away and erased their memories of him (one being the companion who still held longest-running companion in history, although Clara may have taken his trophy) and then didn't even let him choose his face, before forcing a regeneration and then grounding him on Earth. I think I sobbed like a baby when I watched that serial for the first time 😭
The doctor has been with us for many many years. He is the the ultimate Hero that we loyal doctor who fans should all try to be.

The thing I have loved about New Who's regeneration is it feels that the actor captures their feeling about the show. Chris new he was fantastic. David, I truly believe agonized over leaving. And Matt felt honored and blessed at how he touched so many. It makes me really look forward to Peter's final speech and sad at the same time.

I’ve watched both the classic and modern and each regeneration gets me to cry. I grow attached to each one in their own different way and to see them leave breaks my heart every time.
My mom always said that regeneration is like a box of chocolate. You never know what you're going to get.

Edrani I agree Capaldi is the best, but Jodie didn’t kill the show. A lot of us still enjoy it. I hated her Doctor for two years. Finally gave her and Chibs another chance. Still my least favorite, but I’m finally able to enjoy most of the stories now.

9, 10 and 11's changes always get me - they were such great lines, and fitted in with their 'personalities' so well. "I was fantastic", "I don't want to go" and the moment Amy walked down the TARDIS steps are moments that always always make me cry.

I started my doctor who journey with the 9th doctor and I’m fully caught up as of writing this, I think I need to go watch from the very beginning with the first doctor and end with the 13th doctor so I’m caught up for the new season. Looking forward to what I missed out on
One of my favourite lines has to be "you may be a doctor, be I am THE doctor. The definitive article you might say!" Might be the fact that it can apply to all the doctors, or just Tom Baker's amazing delivery of the line, but it always has me grinning like an idiot. David Tennant marked the beginning of the new generation of doctors. Those who would pick loyal companions and be loyal to them. He was the start of a longstanding doctor, someone not only picked to please the script but the people. He was the perfect balance of silliness and humility. From the man who picked a rose to the raggedy man who chose a pond. He was the doctor.

every day of every year we become somebody else. sometimes I imagine there is somebody else standing next to me. or 100 of people standing next to me. they are all the people I used to be. I try to have as little regrets tears and anxieties as possible in life. you never know who you will be the next day. yesterday you might have been somebody completely different than today. what I do know... is that I will always remember when I was me.

You know how every incarnation lives for tens, if not hundreds or thousands of years and we get little glimpses of each lifespan? Well, the Tenth Doctor only lived for four years. Russell T Davies confirmed that every one of Ten's episodes happened in real time. That's why he takes regeneration so badly - he's four years old. From a Time Lord's point of view he's only been around a few months, just enough time to get settled into his new body before he has to change yet again.

If you look at it one way Doctor Who is a metaphor for how your soul keeps returning. Taking on a new fresh body and when your mission is finished you leave that body behind and move on to another lesson. Many of us have little or no memory of having been here before or why or what we have accomplished or failed at in the past or future. Maybe it all occurs in a parallel universe. Occasionally we catch a fleeting glimpse of who we truly are. Our over soul you might say. So, in a sense, we are all time lords.
These are the kinds of thoughts one has at 5:30 in the morning.
This hit me with waves of emotion that pulsed through me and left goosebumps
