Did Jonas Eidevall PUSH Vivianne Miedema?

  • There's a video circulating on X of the Everton game where Jonas looks to sub on Viv just before full time. After what looks like an unhappy exchange, does Jonas dismiss Viv with a push/shove/finger?

I think Viv is one of those rare players who understands a lot about football and that probably in the future will be a coach. She has already realised that Arsenal will never win the league with this coach, she might even get annoyed by the wrong choices he does and got tired of it. She’s leaving to a place where she thinks it will be better. Good for her.

Eidevall has been generally poor at Arsenal, has brought in a lot of players and often doesn't seem to know what to do with them. 'Whap the ball into the penalty box' seems to be about the limit to his tactics.

Jonas has been atrocious for Arsenal. He left so many great players on the bench and his decisions at times made no sense. I was really hoping that we'd get the news that he'd be the one being replaced at the end of this season. But instead we keep seeing news of great players leaving. Good on Viv for leaving - she certainly deserves better. As a gunner, I can't help but feel we'll be a mid table team next season.

From State side, Minnesota way. It was Miedema’s beautiful play and mind that brought me to the Beautiful Game. I wonder as I have watched interactions of Jonas if he was intimidated by Viv. I read a reaction about Arsenal letting Viv go by her previous coach and I don’t see Jonas as reacting the same way to Viv’s challenging the coach about how to play. Joe says he loved the discussions he had with Viv and I think Jonas may have felt threatened by her wanting to discuss how to play and improve as a team. When a person feels threatened (it doesn’t have to be a physical threat) they will often react negatively/defensively. (I’m a physician so I deal with this frequently with patients)
I am of the opinion that maybe why Jonas seemed to use the injury/fitness and playing time as a way to gradually get rid of her at the end. Viv’s a softy, as Beth said, but she is according to her teammates and now her previous coach not shy about her opinions about play on the pitch. I don’t obviously know Jonas but his press conferences and interactions are such that I don’t think he has the self confidence to deal with a player like Viv.
Joe Montemurro on Miedema: "She was the symbol in my tenure of how Arsenal wanted to play. I absolutely loved working with her because we used to challenge each other.
Tactically, the way we wanted to approach things, we would have great discussions about how we could improve. I really loved those discussions. She's really an intelligent thinker in terms of the way she sees the game. We had a lot of banter, it was always a lot of fun. She was an amazing listener and an amazing person wanting to bring the game to the next level. She had a massive impact. I definitely grew as a coach.

What the interaction shows is NO respect from Jonas to Viv.
I don’t think it’s a consideration of if it’s violent or not, but what it is is totally disrespectful workplace conduct tantamount to bullying as he is in a position of career authrority over her.
He firstly insultingly starts to bring her on for 60seconds then doesn’t- humiliating in itself and then gives her a physical brush off, not professional and as other have noted he’s been physically dismissive or aggressive before even hayes mentioned anything.
Viv has been outspoken about his managerial mistakes and he clearly can’t take it and wants her out.
He’s a poor manager not to do better with the talent and money he has, don’t know what arsenal see in him.

Alguém do clube procurou resolver?

It seems her outspoken attitude and what the club demands of the employees are at odds, without the manager even in the picture. I assume he would be expected to "let her go" in line with the business needs?
Also, is there a similarity to Chelsea moving to ensure a couple do not get "undue influence" in the team by "letting go" of a player. Remember Emma Hayes comments on couples.
Lastly, I commented before about Arsenal star studdied team reminding me of Leeds United men in 1970s with too much player power.

I said it a month ago on your channel. Viv was not a happy camper and where were they going to use her. They’re not gonna sit Blackstenious down or Russo. Unfortunately the team has moved on since she’s been hurt. Plus, I do not believe Jonas likes being undermined to the players by Viv and told that he’s doing things wrong. Even though she’s probably right most of the time. Wherever she goes I will cheer for her. And one day when she’s a coach She will see the other side of the coin. Imo

To me, this is non issue. She was about to be subbed on, he changed his mind and asked her to sit back down. To me, it doesn't look like he pushed her, more of an encouragement to go sit back down as there is no point in standing there when she is not going to play.
I think fans are making too much out of this.
Speculation like this destroys things. People should wait and hear what Viv/Jonas have to say about this before jumping to conclusions. (I am an Arsenal)

No smoke without fire. This is the 3rd strike if you believe everything people say. Gareth Taylor, Emma Hayes, and then this incident. People can play blind but it's all pointing towards an aggressive Jonas. Viv is an alpha, and I think he was feeling undermined by her. They had a spat a few years back when he brought on Iwabuchi with seconds left in a game. Viv then stood up for her, and Jonas didn't seem to take too kindly to that. The guy in my eyes is never going to get the team to the promised land because he just isn't good enough. In the words of Simon Jordan, he is the typical bridesmaid.

Arsenal need to let a few more of the clique go also. Oh listen to Rue Shebahn and yourself 'it looks like as if'' ......... Viv as far as Arsenal has been history for a couple of years. Really disappointing and disturbing you'd create such a false narrative and not get info on the situation! Viv was unhappy subbing on because there wasnt much time left and had an issue with it. Im not a jonas fan but he didnt push her and to claim that or even suggest it when the video clearly doesnt show that is wild. Viv has had several sideline outbursts towards jonas in there time and has made it clear in interviews she challenges him alot. She has also been struggling with major mental health issues as stated by her. I love Viv but it clearly wasnt working.. she's been unhappy since jonas came in and then got injured. She didnt want to resign at her last contract and then did last minute. Why would you want to sign someone knowing they are not happy?
And then people claim "what about Beth".. and this is a prime example of what EH was talking about. Every player is an individual. And this is a business. Whether you like it or not.
Vivs statement did not reflect someone who felt unsafe or neglected. Im sure she is so hurt it has come to this.. similarly to when Nobbs left.. it sucks.. but the crap that people are making up is out of control.

If Arsenal don’t make a change they’ll be just as far away from wining next year.

Apart from Williamson, Lotte , Mccabe and Little i'd say everyone else is replaceable. The standards are so low at the club we think players are doing us a favor by playing for us. Viv is a top player and will shine somewhere else however she has been hinting at leaving for years and has ran down her contract multiple times, her bluff was finally called. Sad but we move
