As SDN enters its 35th year, we present the 56th episode of Tapasya to you with a nostalgic journey of the institution's origin and evolution. "Rome was not built in a day", is a well known saying, which aptly applies to the Arts, and certainly to the gradual building of an institution which has to be built with building blocks of hard work, patience, perseverance and faith.
In this 56th episode and the coming few episodes, we will be taking you through a reminiscent journey of SDN and the lessons that we have learnt along the way...
Tapasya - the training sessions, is a series of videos that will be published on a monthly basis (as episodes) on the last day of every month.
The students featuring in Tapasya series have about 6-8 classes every month. Each episode of Tapasya is a cumulative overview of what is taught to them during the course of the month.
Along with the training sessions of the children, Tapasya also holds inputs on teaching techniques from Smt. Sheela Unnikrishnan and useful tips from the regular performers of Sridevi Nrithyalaya.

Our social media team, assisted with a legal team, watchfully works in curbing audios/videos of Sridevi Nrithyalaya that have been used in unauthorized way and uploaded in social media. Though we do not put up copyright declarations in all our videos, we strictly adhere to legal formalities and procedures regarding copyrights.
We honestly work hard and spend a good time and amount of our resources to produce our music and dance videos. They are produced and uploaded in our social platforms solely to take our art to all those raiskas around the globe who are unable to reach us in person to enjoy SDN's art live.
It is not about 'misuse' or 'trying to support' our dance and audio productions by just giving credits. Art is for all for sure. Our productions uploaded in social platforms are for the art lovers worldwide to WATCH and ENJOY but definitely not for copying or reproducing without SDNT's authorisation.
SDNT has unanimously derived to this strong conclusion. Therefore, SDN or any individual from SDN would be not to able to grant anyone permission to reproduce our work of any form.

I was born and bought up at Anna Nagar, shanthi colony.. during 90’s I wish I would have roamed around villiwakkam or kk nagar at that time.. I would have heard the dance rhythm and would have joined.. I wish I were your student.

I forgot to mention the most important thing.
My sister and my friend who were in Siva Leela vilasam did my have any formal training in Dance.
But our presentation was praised as being of the professional standard .
A foreigner visiting our company video recorded the dance.
Video was unknown in 1980s.
The way u struggled ma'am to come to the place where u are...Congrats!
