In todays explore we visit a street where many houses have become abandoned due to unstable ground beneath.
The houses have huge cracks in the brickwork and are slowly crumbling away.
Although partly inhabited, the Undercliff is an area prone to landslips and subsidence, with accompanying loss of property over time.

When you hear and see on the TV about these houses falling into the sea you think aww poor people. But then when you actually take us into the said houses its heartbreaking to see how beautiful the houses are and how happy people must of been living there and so harshly taken away from them. Thanks for sharing....its so sad xx
Very tragic really Gaynor. Imagine being told not to go back to your home!
It's a bit weird that we can freely walk in and out but noone came back to take their possessions!
Cheers for watching as always 😁 👍
Lets hope and pray these people found safe and secure new homes and that the upevil has been coped with. Easier said than done
And no compensation for the people ordered to abandon their houses, I suppose.
@@zamistro That is what buildings insurance is for.
@@michaelnash9644 can't get insurance on these properties
Looking at news articles for the local area, it appears that the major landslip happened just to the left of the of first bungalow you went in, and the road cracked open directly in front of the bungalow - it happened on the 12th February 2014, and the army was called in on the 16th to help evacuate the other houses opposite the bungalow, where the road completely fell away. It looks like the severe weather and loads of rain preceding this event was to blame. But if you notice further along the road there are traffic lights which has been there for some time before 2014, where that section of road had been moved due to what looks like a landslip there as well. So the houses would have been empty since Feb 2014, thats 9 years. Looking at Google Streetview, you can see they were occupied in 2009 and in 2011, but abandoned in the later 2019 view. The second house was called Mount Lavinia - you can see the name plate on the gate on the 2009 view.
The abandoned Ford Cougar is interesting though - you can see it on the drive in the 2019 view, but it shows as MOT'd until April 2019, so it was left there at least 4 years after the house was abandoned in 2014 - very odd that.
Very interesting video, but confused me when you jumped to that Harbour Farm place, which I found was located some distance from the first 2 houses you looked at.
Thanks for the info Steve, yeah the others at the end are also affected by subsidence so it all links in.
I'm wondering if somebody was using the driveway post evacuation to continue doing up the Ford Cougar? It needs to be saved by somebody, not me but somebody out there!
The car would of had to be used/ moved in March/ April 2018 at the very latest for it to have MOT until April 2019. So someone must of still been living there illegally until at least March/April 2018 before eventually abandoning it
I feel so sad for all those people who had to just get up and leave, must've been horrible having to leave their really lovely houses behind in these circumstances, can't imagine it. Such an interesting video tho guys, fascinating to see whats left behind!
A very good video Alex and Pompeye. Those poor folks who had to leave their homes. Gut wrenching huh?! Thanks for sharing this one with us all. Til next, G’night 🤗😊
Really sad, I felt a bit weird being in their homes, especially as they've been told not to go back!
Thanks again for the support Nanny really appreciated. 😁👍
You find the most interesting areas and homes to explore. It's scary how dangerous it could be. Thanks for all the hard work you guys put in. I think I've watched pretty much all your videos now and I don't know what I'll find next, certainly not anything nearly as interesting as your channel. Have a wonderful day!
Strange how they aren’t allowed to fetch their belongings and yet the houses have not been demolished to stop urban explorers and vandals from entering !
It really did feel weird that we could walk round them, but the families couldn't go back.
I guess the insurance dictated that decision!
Cheers for watching (I'm glad you separated Urban explorers and vandals lol)
They left what they didn't want
Not sure I see the difference between ‘urban explorers’ and ‘tresspassers’ or for that matter vandals.
@@nigeltoon1848 There are good and bad in every category in life. You can tell when someone is respectful ....,.and when someone isn't. 😉
@@haveahappyday1749 Agreed. Mostly when they’re respectful of private property and don’t describe themselves as ‘explorers’.
No one would stop me from going in and getting all of my stuff. It looks like it’s been empty for so long and those guys were safe in there. It’s not fell off the cliff yet so I’d definitely get all of my stuff unless they just didn’t want it
That was fantastic !!! bit of a shame , beautiful homes that nobody can live in . You never know what can happen , even if you build a home in paradise . Thank you for your great work , I love what you guys do , Stuart in Canada ..
So sad to see these houses with such fabulous views of the channel now deserted and with so much left inside and even a car parked outside 😢
Must have been terrible for their owners having to leave. Let’s hope the work continues to shore up defences around the island to keep that area safe 🤞
Brave of you to explore but great video - thanks to Edd and Ned too 👍👍👍
Apparently the families were told not to go back as it was too Dangerous, yet here we were walking around.
Cheers for watching Trish hope all is well 👍
Fascinating video loved it guys, some of the buildings didn't look that bad. Even the ones in the early part of the video are still standing. Must have been heartbreaking for the people that owned them.
VacantHaven thaks for sharing this live stream showing me those places i really enjoyed it so very much keep the good work you are doing these explores and be safe and Happy Easter and God Bless.
You're welcome! Thanks for joining and glad you liked the tour!

Thank you Sharon! Much appreciated 👍
great video alex and brillent team u ned and eddie, love it thanks for sharing and happy easter x
Happy Easter Hayley, glad you enjoyed the Edd n Ned combo lol.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode of this excellent find , it is so sad those people had to leave their homes as there was a danger to them.👌💕
Thanks Clare, it's a real shame this street, very sad for the families.
Love your videos, just found your channel, and am enjoying them.❤
Wow Guys that was crazy!!!! But brilliant video. Great Job. TY
With all the talk of the government/councils talking about helping the environment, but yet they are o.k with all that waste just falling into the sea. Are they hoping that the plants will dispose off it as it overgrows?
It’s all b*llshit that’s why
There's not a lot you can do about it. It's not safe for anyone to go in there and that includes demolition of the place. So the safest thing is to let fall down bit by bit and remove whatever falls down below, its not ideal for the environment, but it's the safest. The explorers are taking a huge risk going inside these properties. Any further construction near coasts likely to erode should be banned. The people that lived in these houses left most of their things behind which proves how dangerous it.
Great video guys all ways good content you bring us. It's a shame people had to move out. Such a shame lovely looking billdings looking over the sea.i bet it was really nice back in the day. Anyways look forward to the next one guy's 👍✌✌👍
We were here last year and did some paranormal looks like people have destroyed it more sadly . I was born here and Lived just down the road from here great video guys I would like to go back .
Love the talking during the video, makes it really chill and enjoyable to watch! New sub! Love from Dublin 👏🏻🕺🏻
Thank you very much!
Glad you enjoyed 👍
First I thought, ahhh you're in Norfolk. I love Norfolk. But then I saw the distance between the sea & the houses & thought nope 🤭 I really shouldn't make light of it. The Norfolk coast where the houses are pretty much gone is a tragedy. Imagine buying your dream home right next to the sea & then several years later you have to abandon it. Heartbreaking 💔
Yet another excellent explore, I don't know anything about this street, but I can imagine how devastated they all must have been to leave, so thank you again for the explore.
They were told not to come back for their belongings as it was too dangerous, it's sad for those families.
Cheers for watching June 👍
Agreed an awesome explore guys.
@@VacantHavenwell someone was still living there until at least April 2018 as that car had MOT until April 2019. Yet I think the place was abandoned in February 2014
As always a detailed and entertaining video. Always with a little slice of humour! Great job guys!
Cheers Grant, glad you enjoyed 😁👍
Another good one guys you found. Would you ever come down to Cornwall be interesting as me and my partner are looking to explore abandoned places also 😊
Was once a very nice house, a great pity that its going to eventually crumble into the sea as the land slowly recedes and erodes away! Interesting exploration video gentlemen, fascinating escapade!
Thank you for yet another great video love you guys.Stay safe and happy travels
You're welcome Tisha, have a great week 👍
I felt so sad these beautiful houses with subsidence I wanted to dig up some of the plants bet the gardens were beautiful. Loved the balcony. My frustration watching, is how quick and how long the adverts start and last. It really spoils watching. Other wise it's a good watch x
Great explore guys.
What a shame these are what look like would of been lovely houses. Just with Time they have suffered from being abandoned. Feel sorry for the families that had to leave them. Great explore as always x
I agree with you such a sad time for those families.
Glad you enjoyed the tour though 😁👍
@@VacantHaven I always do
Good job lads thank you for sharing ❤
Cheers Maz! Rest up, and same time next week 😁👍
I bet those places were awesome homes at one time.Great explore.xx
Bet that place look lovely in its hey day great video as always guys
Make Ed wear a hard hat. Protect your mate. He really makes these videos very good.
Hi Guys!
Thankyou for such a fab video on the IOW.
A beautiful Island:-) A place close to my heart
My Grandmother / Grandmother were born in Freshwater many, many moons ago. A lot of my ancestry are buried in Freshwater Church Yard.
It is so sad to see so many homes having to be abandoned due to the cliffs subsidence. It's happening in quite a few areas these days. It seems to be more frequent which is concerning. The families that have been left traumatised in having to leave their home behind💔😥 So sad.
Keep Safe & Well when exploring these places. You do a fantastic job but don't forget your SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT TOO!!!!❤️
Great find you guys pity about the houses they were quite nice you can tell the ground is going from under them want be long before they are in the water I would never buy a house need the sea on the side of a hill for that very reason. Keep up the great explore guys
I look forward to your next on thank you have a great Easter love your work. Regards Allan.
Cheers Allan, I guess subsidence is the one thing you don't look for when buying a property.
Really sad for the families.
Have a great Easter yourself mate 😁👍
@@VacantHaven so true we have that same problem in Australia it’s nice to live near the beach but the erosion is unbelievable even the cars are a rust bucket and you don’t buy them I live in the hi country and love it.
Great vid guys, bizarre to see an entire street abandoned....BTW.....I couldn't help but have a laugh at 22:22, "Ruins the ambience" 🤣🤣🤣
Cheers Bill and yeah Edd trod on a few 'ducks' that day 🤣👍
Glad you enjoyed mate

I thought it was a duck at first but then😂
Cool explore 😎 will be looking on Google maps to see how it was before looking forward to next week 😀
I think you can go back to 2009 on some street views. It's been vacant since then 👍
Skipsea?
The Cat's paw prints. . . We need to start calling Ed . . . . Poirot for figuring that out ha ha ha ha
Great explore lads and a good laugh . . . just what the Dr ordered.
Cheers for the comment Mike, glad you enjoyed the explore 😁👍
Think there was an episode in Canada where several custom homes (new) were also, falling in. New construction very sad
Awesome place. Sad tho. When Ed's old fashioned ring tone rang out it scared the crap out of me. Thought it was coming from the house.
Haha yeah, he has to have a ringtone that sounds like an old 50s ringer too 😄
It spooked me at the time, great jump scare 😱
Poor Ed lol he cracks me up. Wanted to let you know this is now my new favourite urbex channel, I have been binge watching for the last few days. Hello from Canada :o)

@@Victoria2cupsadayVlogger you're welcome! We seem to have a few followers from Canada, great to see the videos are travelling far and wide.
So why is'nt the Council seeing that the none degradeable stuff is removed to avoid coming polution? Bloody irresponcible.
We'll make a country boy out of you three yet.The broken and lost dreams around that horse barn itself was a heavy weight Alex. All those pen/fences around those hours and buildings was strictly to keep someone from being sued to death.
Love the stable blocks they look pretty good and intact
The place cannot be that unsound if you lot can crash around without coming to harm. Seems a bit far from the sea, I don't think it will be falling into the sea without quite a bit of help.
The houses won't exactly fall in the sea but they'll slide down the slope nevertheless.
@@flitsertheo Absolutely.
The slip has screwed up the road system around there to the point that there are now even bigger traffic jams. Very little can be done (I'm led to believe) and talk of re-opening the railway to this part of town is on the cards - although the cost and difficulties are pretty horrendous too!
Great video guys
Thanks Mr Mawson glad you enjoyed mate 😁👍
Great videos guys
Thank you, glad you enjoyed that explore 😁👍
Just randomly came across this in isle of Wright, car is still there. But the ivy has taken over.
That's a shame that these beautiful seaside houses are slowly going into the ocean my Dad was going to buy a house that was in Pacifica California but instead bought a house more inland. The house is well known in Pacifica from slow crumbling if the cliff it was built on
I live on the island, explored a couple of places similar over the years. It’s sad and fascinating at the same time
Where is this do u know??
That was a Smashing explores
They could stabilise the land by inserting sheeters into the ground. However, the costs are what stops them doing it.
Sad to see the abandoned houses,it must of been very traumatic for the people that lived there.
Another brilliant one. There's some moneys worth there that's being reclaimed by nature. 😀
I just wish that land developers would take more care in the locations that they build in. Ill bet that the owners that bought these places were unaware of the unstable ground. I fear that in the near future that all the expensive homes in Pacifica near San Fransciso California will meet the same fate . Its been coming for a long time
Pity you could`nt get into more of the houses , there was so much more hidden away . very good though.
Good one, Alex!
Thanks Potatoes 👍
Those characters on the wall at 18:00 are from The big lez show, epic aussie comedy on youtube
Ah OK, cheers for the info, I'll have to check that out now!
Cheers for watching Kyle 😁👍

Thank you as always Verci, glad you enjoyed the explore.
Same time next week 😁👍
So much salvageable stuff...lights,doors,wood, railings ect.
Bet the place was beautiful when they were first built.
A little adjustable wrench would loosen fence panel clamps
They are channel markers for in the S3. When you're going out in the boats that's poor Because they are red and green is for Star board😊
Ed’s a bit dramatic at times 🤣🤣🤣
Lol he's built for this exploring business!
Good stuff ❤ these 👍

Barn thing was wicked ❤
Yikes ! Interesting an sad, but ballsy.

Cheers Mr Bill so is this comment! 👍
So sad I bet these homes were awesome in there heyday!🤔✌️
Lol the one sign actually said "ISLE OF WITH".
I’ve been here it’s quite a strange place to explore
Nice one guy's 👍
Thanks Joe much appreciated mate 👍
Such a shame those poor people 😀👍👍👍👍👍
The house down the bottom of the hill near old park road collapsed a few weeks ago, there's fault lines in the woodlands around it and the roads are ripped apart.
That's a shame to hear!
Yeah very sad situation for all involved.
@@VacantHaven I was going to check out the house below but within a few days the top floor collapsed into the lower level, it's definitely a sad situation. The people who owned it was searching for people's videos/ photos and sending them messages.
@@allenwood9967whats the road called, do u know?
one of those farm houses might have been vintage MOD, a lot of old bunkers were near coastal cliffs, with fake farmhouses up top explaining the heavy door, oddly even tho it is cliffside looks like the drains have collapsted too, the "boathouse" looked to actually be a barn surrounded by a flood. if it was mod then the extra securty would be needed as they could collapse into the ground at any second as the tunnels below fail.
When I first visited that cougar still had its wheels.
I'm actually surprised that the copper thieves haven't been in those buildings
Seems to me they had to leave for a what if situation because years later the homes and properties are still standing, They should have just stayed.
The sea always wins. The response should be controlled demolition well before houses fall into the already polluted sea.
What if these houses are still here in 20 years??? Would be interesting to know the back story of these houses? Obviously falling into the sea was not imminent as it is 9 years on now, so they could have taken their property out!
What were those funny sounds? Between 22.22 and 22.25? And another at 31.49? That old timer’s sprightly. Show him a gate and he’s over it. Like a rat up a drainpipe 😂
Sad that fridge was left behind it was huge and expensive and gross lol
I checked the Ford car and the Last MOT was from 2018 so I’m guessing in 2018 every one left that village
I'm curious, how many of these homes were lived in by the owners vs mainland/overseas owners who rented them out as holiday homes (Air B&B etc)
Incredible 🤜🏼
Thank you 😁
The caravan site to the west of the first two properties has been occupied for the last couple of years.
Save the old plates for me. Before they end up in the sea.👌😄👍
Eventually the same thing is going to happen to the houses in Pacifica Ca.
I bet that property is still standing in another 15 years, its nowhere near falling into the sea yet
The entire area is sliding downwards, not just the cliff edge.
That's an old concrete solo for Gran 😊
My god Eddie, that was a ripper😂
Here in the states it's usually Rich people who own a house over looking the sea.
Usually the same here in the UK too. These houses wouldn't have been cheap.
Cheers for watching 👍
those people must have been gutted to leave them property😢
Ed seemed off balance hope he's alright. It is a shame the houses are unsafe.
He's fine thanks, just had one of those days lol.
Thanks for watching Korinne 😁👍
I think he farted at about 7:21, mate. Lmao😅
I know where that is I think there a school there on the cliffs sad for people property living in a caravan
its ashame you couldnt get in that last house with the radar on the roof i think somthing to do with military
They must have cried when all this happened to them, shame lives changed
There's always an old singer lol
