Always love the food plot videos man, question for you. I don’t know anything about planting corn, but what is the point or reason for cultivating around the corn again?

I just heard Don Higgins say in a recent podcast if you plant the nutricrave next to other corn it will cross pollinate and you won’t get as good of results .

I head that too. I’m sure the corn a couple rows over won’t be affected but for sure the first 2-3 rows may have some cross pollination.

Looks like you had almost NO critter damage when the corn was coming up--just got lucky or WHAT?

Got lucky. I didn’t have many issues this year with cranes and turkeys pulling out the corn in these plots.

How wide are your rows? And have you tried not spraying anything and then just cultivating before

38in rows. In the past we did a few little sections of no spray only cultivating and it turned out good too. But definitely a little weedy in the row near the plant.

Over the winter, this experiment, from last year, yielded decisive results.
Why bother with the nutri crave when the deer basically ignore it for field corn?

I wouldn’t say they ignored it. They ate it about the same as the field corn. Supposedly the NutriCrave gains a lot of its nutrients late in the dry down phase. Last yr was 108 NutriCrave and was planted mid-late May. This is 100 day planted early May so it should have plenty of time to dry down and we’ll see if that has a difference.

Use warrant as a pre and you won't have to cultivate nearly as often

Both these stands of corn we only cultivated twice. Some other areas I sprayed simazine a little heavier we didn’t need to cultivate at all. I’m pretty happy with the control I’m able to get using simazine compared to years of not putting down a pre.

@wisconsinwhitetail9744 glad it works, I'm in central Wisconsin and have the same issues with water hemp pigweed and don't have a weed where I sprayed but the fall plot I didn't spray is full of them until I sprayed to get ready for fall plots

You should add a little dicamba with your roundup and you wouldn’t have a weed left in your plots! Lol
