The problem is not VAR, the problem is the referees using VAR. The standard of referees is atrocious

Exactly. The referees are all in their own boy’s club where no one gets punished or held accountable.

I love how Rory mentions twitter being toxic when he’s basically a stereotype of a twitter user 😆

    Solution, see what you think...
Get rid of the teams at Stockley, use semi auto offsides and for everything else have a contest button on the touchline for managers to press max 3x a game when they think they ref should go to the screen.

      Completely agree

Yes I'm with you completely on this... I've had a similar idea, the only difference I would add is make it only two reviews, one for each half and to be only called by the team captain on the pitch and within 30 seconds of the incident to stop clubs from having someone sitting in the dugout with a tv screen to alert them of the sure errors, it'd be more like tennis reviews... made by the players on the field.

Should be for obvious errors (which is what they first claimed) not nitpicking every little detail. If you are debating a call then its not an obvious error. It should be so simple.

Except for close offsides that lead to a goal VAR should be a quick look and carry on. No need for slow mos and stills if it's not obvious, it's not an offence.

Officials need to be trained. They have all been horrific this season.

No but it needs to be consistent from week to week, I don’t agree with it when a players finger nail is off side, that’s pathetic it should be the most trailing part of the player not the leading part. I remember Forest having a penalty awarded against them at old Trafford for less than the 3 turned down against Everton. Consistency is what we need.

No, VAR works fine in other places.

I don’t want to scrap it, because it was brought in for a very good reasons. The problem is it’s execution. It was brought in to make subjective decisions more objective, but the use of the technology is completely subjective, making it redundant. Firstly, they need to sort out this offside business. And get rid of these odd lines and all this stuff. Other sports have worked this out, why is football determined to go its own way boggles the mind. Everything else barring issues in the box should be a challenge based system, liking tennis and cricket. Each team gets to challenges to use the VR on a particular issue each half, if they use it frivolously, they lose the challenge, if they don’t, they retain a challenge, works in tennis, cricket, etc. That way the game gets to flow, and the teams get to be more precise about exactly what it is they don’t want to have let slide. Football is so absolutely determined to not be like other sports that it will literally ignore solutions found by other sports that would literally give the referees, the teams, the players a bit more of a break with some of the stuff.

Quality of refs is going down because they rely on VAR but the people who operate VAR are the terrible refs who's quality is going down. Its a lose lose situation

Keep VAR in knock out games, in Europe but domestic leagues bin it.

Doesn’t really change much, it’s mainly the refs fault

It is the refs tho not the technology. Think about it a ref can be wrong while technology USED CORRECTLY can be near perfect. What we need is compete refs to handle the var
