Lyrics:
Bloodsport for all, said Corporal Flash
And shoved me in a room full of C.S. gas
Stuck me in a wet-suit to dry off in the sun
And fed me pet food, Kit-e-kat and Chum
Stand up and beg, said Sergeant Kirby
Lay down, play dead for Di and Fergie
Roll up, roll up goes the reveille
Abuse the bugle boy of company be
Suffer in silence, said Brigadier General Holmes
Or change your name to Smith or Jones
Learn to live with all the death threat notes
The big bananas and the racist jokes
Stand up and beg, said Sergeant Kirby
lay down, play dead for Di and Fergie
Roll up, roll up goes the reveille
Abuse the bugle boy of company be
And the coldest stream guards
Of them all
Sang God Save The Queen
And Bloodsport For All
While were on the subject
I've been called a spade
Single filed in public
With my privates on parade
I hope my feet go flat
Before I hang myself
Because I can't take this crap
I'm going A.W.O.L.
And the coldest stream guards
Of them all
Sang God Save The Queen
And Bloodsport For All

This was filmed at the Cambridge Junction. I have the pleasure of saying that those are me and mates stage diving. Brings a tear to my eye, simpler times.
I'm Australian and a friend gave me a copy of this album in1992. I was 38 years old. Loved the social message of the songs. Brilliant poetry.
I'm 65 now and still think it's shit hot!!
Im 58 and fuckin love it, my mate was into it years ago
You were listening to UK music, I was into Aussie music! I wonder how many albums crossed the globe :)
this band was too ahead of its time
I would say they were right for the time - the 90's (like the 60's) were very liberal, which is why it was a great time to be alive.
@@MrYossarianuk yes it was
Sadly, whilst their lyrics are still relevant, if they were around today they wouldn't have been as well known as now the youth are anaesthetised by trite and meaningless garbage driven by the likes of Cowell who revel in saying that "you made that song your own" as opposed to the past where groups / acts wrote their own songs and they had something meaningful to say.
@@MrYossarianuk music dangerous enough for the BBC to ban, yet poppy enough to hit number 1 in the album charts. It truly was a different time.
Looking at your name I'd guess you were too.
Timeless masterpiece. Lyrics are exceptionally good and brutally honest. No wonder the BBC banned it. Carter were years ahead of their time.
It was after the watershed the bbc banned mate maybe both ..after the watershed tackling child abuse bbc love banning the truth don't they ? Jim bob new album is absolutely brilliant I swear it's brilliant and I've been a carter fan from day 1 .. very very clever man
A friend of mine told me about Carter USM. I will thank him for a long time for it.
......Same here, about 25 years back know, absolutely brilliant, along with the Jim bob solo albums.....
Absolutely fantastic track (take a bow fellas) still sounds as good today x
God I miss Carter concerts! Fruitbat and Jimbob were totally laid back and unphased by the crowd getting up on the stage to dance & stage dive - and the crowd understood the deal - people gave them the space to play, and obviously in a pre-mobile era noone was up there taking selfies or photos - people were there in the moment. I think I went to about 10 Carter gigs as an 17-18 year old - very happy memories.
I came about hearing Carter USM in a friend's car in 1990 in Huntsville, Alabama, US. That's spread.
I was rapture for 45 minutes. High school - we drove to nowhere for hours and listened to music on the way.
30-Something is in my top ten list of perfect records.
They were phenomenal live!
Seen them live in my local town when I was about 16. Was one of the best gig's I have been too
Yes they really were miss the early 90s
.. the Decade of the best Indie and Alternative Music.... and still awesome after all these Years...
Carter USM are easily in my top five bands ever,I loved them growing up,Jimbob and Fruitbat i looked up to,i had the privilege of seeing them live at Blackburn 92,i will cherish the memories forever, better times..
All those carter fans why don't you go to jim bobs gigs ? Absolutely brilliant plays carter plays his brilliant solo album ..criminal people don't listen enough hrs making history now it's as close to going back to them days as you'll get
I'm going, I'm going.......see yer Dreamland Margate 26th April !.....
My dad got me into carter when i was 7 never really got the lyrics and meanings. But jesus wept i love them more than ever now im 34.
One of my favourite bands of all time. Totally original, totally cool and always amazing live! Jimbob, I had such a crush on you when I was a kid! I was 10 in 1990 but my older sister who's 9 years older, loved them and got me into them. I thought they were coolest blokes I'd ever seen in my life and it turned me into an indie kid! I have USM to thank for turning me on to good music.
Loulabelle middle aged woman (apparently) lol favouritist band ever. It's bands like Carter that keep us young and remember what's important. So passionate and on the nail xx
Am in agreement. Still follow to this day x
I was 15 in1990 and also had a older brother my teenage kicks were just simply the dog's nadz, loved it big time going to raves E generation was rite up my steet indie music properly loved my teenage years

one of many, brilliant carter tracks, thanks for posting :-)
I think "Rubbish " might be my favourite.
Loulabelle.Yes another brilliant song:-)
Read about Carter in the NME back in the day, drove 50 miles to catch them on tour. What a night.
I saw jimbob support the Wonder stuff a few years ago and he played this acoustic and it was incredible. A top tune and a great act.
Best line in gig T-shirts ever . 🟥🟥🟨🟨🟩🟩
Anarchy is for all,oh yeah oh yeah,
Saw 'em play the first Big Day Out in Adelaide. They were good. Even got a few pics on my crappy little Kodak camera. :D
Saw them in Leeds 1990 great night
I presume the lyrics should read "Company B"
We are uploading some tracks in full HD from the Final Comedown release.
Haha God save the queen. Love this track! Fucking brilliant!
Was young squaddie when this came out. Changed days, I was so stupid then thought it was a recruitment song. The Guards 💂♀️ prided themselves being all white then. Some things change for the better
My friend left the navy a broken man after racism there
What is this song about?
Fruitback is 60
Fruitbat
Gimbawem a googli woohloo is twelvty fo4ur ya kno rob the castle man harper.. change your name to smith and jones.. did you hear the joy in your own friends voices as they stood at the door of irrelevence ? You probably still ask yourself that question in you sub consciesce as you deliberate over wether fruitback really is 60 ?
