Hey Louis, you will probably never read this, but this really helped my family out, because when our small dog Sophie had a bunch of chocolate cookies, nobody knew what to do, and I ran to the pharmacy and bought some hydrogen peroxide. She lived, obviously. So, thank you!

Three of us did it, because we needed to hold her down. And she didn't hate any of use afterwards. She's a sweetie. Not that I'm saying his dog wasn't sweet. I think we were just able to get her to ingest it quicker, with three of us.
I imagine that was more a comedy bit, I doubt the dog really hated him afterwards. We've all had to do some shit that from our dog's perspective seems insane, and they pretty much always get over it.
+Allenluvable - A tip, as far as getting them to drink it: Use a plastic syringe, then hold the mouth closed... I've had to do that with a cat who wouldn't swallow a pill (he'd hold it in his mouth for two min and then spit it out when I let go). But if you squirt a little water with a syringe (there's no needle!), they have to swallow. Voila! (That was a tip from a vet btw.) My 2 cents...
theres dogs with abusive owners that love their owners. im sure that doesnt happen. good for the story though.

Perfect example of why Conan is so good. He barely steps in during this, he just lets Louie roll with it because he's one of the best. Conan can be funny when he needs to be, but he just wants to let the audience have a laugh and he knows for some guests he doesn't even need to be funny.

That's why I love Conan and Andy so much. Both of them are hilarious, but they only step in when they know it'll make the story even better. And Conan will take over when the guest isn't being funny, without completely overshadowing the person
FYI to dog owners: It's any type of chocolate, not just dark chocolate.
Thats strange cause I´ve been giving chocolate to my dog his entire life every time I had some and he is still ok (around 20 years old).
Well the sugary stuff is further from chocolate than we'd think

He has an incredible natural sense of comedy. Every bit and material that comes out of his mouth is so natural... and ends up being freakin hilarious. In my opinion, is a great attribute to having a long and successful career in comedy.

Love this story! Here's a tip...mix the hydrogen peroxide with milk... they'll drink it... and you'll feel horrible as you wait for them to throw up, but happy they do.

A couple of years after Team Coco uploaded this interview on CZcams, our beloved sweet family dog ate rat poison that my parents left out in the basement to treat our rat problem. (We immediately scrapped all of the rat poison in our home afterwards.) Thank GOD that I happened to be in the basement at the same time to see it happen.
I remember this interview clearly: Louis CK's emotions and dramatic movements...the audience's laughter kept on ringing in my head, because I knew EVERY minute at that point with our family dog mattered. I immediately googled help and no stores were open that sold "activated charcoal". Finally, with my parents, we forced a bit of hydrogen peroxide down his throat and he quickly threw up the rat poison. Thank God. We enjoyed many years with him afterwards. He was the love of my life. THANK YOU LOUIS CK!

sweet lord, does this man know how to tell a story. I feel like the best component of his storytelling is whenever he starts talking from the dog's point of view, its just so casual yet elegant at the same time and the wording is just perfect. what I would give to have a gift like that, man..

I think LCK's what you'd call an accidental genius, in that he doesn't think of himself as a genius, and we don't until we start to absorb the depth of his brilliance - and I think you have to have a certain level of intelligence and world view to appreciate his brilliance. "Funny" doesn't really do him justice - he transcends funny. He's got this mind that is truly singular not just in the world of comedy but in understanding ourselves, the people around us, and what it means to live an honest life.

A 70 pound dog should have only gotten about 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide, not an entire bottle! lol sorry the veterinary nurse in me needed to point that out.
She didn't drink the whole bottle, he was fighting to get her to at least ingest some of it, and I'm assuming most of it went all over the place until he got enough.

Actually, it's not the chocolate that's causing the death of dogs when they eat it. The % of cocoa does not matter. Almost all chocolate that we eat contains Theobromine. Theobromine is what kills the dog - Wikipedia has a great page about it.

Here's the thing: There's a chemical in chocolate (I forget the name) which is poisonous to dogs, and to cats, and in fact is poisonous to humans, except you'd have to eat an insane amount to get a fatal dose.
The amount of this chemical depends a lot on the type of chocolate; since it's usually "cut" with sugar and stuff, it's usually not dangerous. Dark chocolate is worse, but things like baking chocolate or cocoa have a much higher concentration.
Since dogs come in all sorts of different sizes, what would be a safe amount for one dog could be fatal to another. It's very hard to tell. And even if you give your dog just a little bit of chocolate, what dog ever settled for a *little bit* of anything, once they got a taste?
So even though it would probably be OK if your dog ate some chocolate, it's best not to let them have any at all. Otherwise you run the risk of coming home one day to find Mr. Winkle stiff on the kitchen floor after having broken into the baking chocolate.
