Hello Bargain Family! Todays video, I'm so excited to share. I've been getting lots of request to make a desk or another vanity desk using the Dollar Tree crates. Video where I used crates to make vanity desk • DOLLAR TREE CUBE ORGAN...
In my opinion that's the only way you can make the vanity using Dollar Tree crates, without it being too flimsy. Since I keep getting these request, I wanted to try making another vanity desk but use products that are sturdier. To do this, I'm using 3 tier utility shelves I got at Menards for $6.48 a piece! I bought two total. You could get 13 Dollar Tree crates at that same price but they wouldn't make up the length, height, width or be able to hold over 55lbs each like these shelves can. That's why I decided to use these shelves instead of crates. I'll be keeping my eyes opened for an inexpensive desk and see if I could make a vanity desk out of a desk you can already purchase. Let me know what combos you want to see next! Marble and Purple? Opal Glitter and White? I'm open to ideas. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to read.

The dollar tree near me don't carry the acrylic boxes or picture holder, your stores sound amazing.

If you have any other Dollar Trees that toucan get to, try them. The Dollar Tree closest to me does not carry as many things as the one way across town. I have trouble getting to that one, as I can not legally drive. Lol

I ordered them by the case from the web site! I use them in crafting. There’s 10 in a case but if you order I t for in store pick up you don’t have to pay shipping I had to wait a month for that. The next time I just had them delivered and had to eat the shipping cost :/ it made them roughly $2 a piece which is still rather inexpensive and received them in half the time. Plus there in a padded protected box so it’s easier storage as apposed to getting a bunch from the store and they bump up against each other and get scratched. So pros and cons

Very cute the top looks like real marble wrapped over the edge like that. You could get a longer piece of wood and pull the shelve units away from each other and fit a little chair or stool in the middle under there too.

I love this, and the acrylic drawers were used by Danielle Walcott as a organizer and she used like 40 of them and it is soo Awesome...I duplicated it for my daughter and will be giving it to her for Christmas....Now it looks like I have something else to make for her as well!!!! *You could have made an open space in the middle and either get 2 wood boards as support on the sides of the open space, or better yet a board on that would fit on the very back against the wall. You would have to have course measure the space and most likely go to Home Depot or Lowe's and have them cut a board... Which they do for free... And you would have to use a heavy duty glue.*

To anyone considering the Michaels dupe for the alex drawers just keep in mind that they are shorter and not as sturdy or as good of quality like the ikea ones. If you’re serious about needing a space go out all of your makeup and hair supplies, and can take care of things than save and they the ikea Alex drawers. It’s an investment. I’ve had mine for two years now and they’re still brand new. I don’t have any wear and tare on them. They are a tad expensive but worth it! Save and buy one drawer unit at a time if you have to. Everyone loves them for a reason. I loved the video! You’re so creative ❤️

You have to try different ones. I found that different dollar trees carry different things
Each store size up has at least 100 skus more than the size below it.
You can go on the dollar tree website and have the stuff shipped to your store for free

I love this but I would probably just mount the faux marble shelf to the wall to make a floating shelf; get another plank the same size- cut it into 4 even pieces -apply the marble- and mount them evenly on the wall 2 on each side creating a space in the middle for legs and feet if you wanted to pull a chair all the way up and sit while you do your makeup.

Bethany, I own those drawer units from Michaels. I bought them at 40% off. I think they are great, my only problem with them is they are too short to be a desk or vanity. I built bases for them to sit on so they come to a normal height and cut a plywood base for the top. Hope this helps.

I was thinking the same thing but what you can do is buy a longer table topper and space out the shelving to allow space for a chair or stool. Im going to try this!

That marble paper really makes the top of the desk look very pricey. I found some shelving like that in Home Depot, $4.50 for a tier shelf, guess it was an end of summer special? Thanks for sharing. sj
