Hazel is literally the most powerful demigod ever! Great vid btw
Technically that title goes to Heracles/Hercules as stated by Jason Grace but if your talking about current demigods then Percy is still acknowledged as the strongest current demigod. The reason is his ability to control liquids and gases freely meaning he could boil someone alive using their blood or simply making their veins burst, the only reason he avoids doing such things is that controlling liquids in such a way ‘feels evil’ to him.

Nah... She just has more powers. Percy and Jason would be objectively stronger, with Percy being the most powerful current demigod and Nico is just straight up more dangerous than them both, leaving Hazel a little behind in terms of power but not of utility...

Ok. I keep saying I want an ATLA crossover with Percy Jackson. I also went through simulations in my head. Zuko vs Leo, Katara vs Percy, and Toph vs Hazel. Obviously, Katara and Zuko got defeated. But Toph would destroy Hazel. Illusions don’t affect the blind. A sword isn’t gonna stop a metal bender. And I think we can all agree that Toph’s geomancy is more refined and varied than Hazel’s. She’d be probably be impressed by Hazel’s gem manipulation though.
Her illusions aren't just visual its also auditory and the other senses because she is manipulating the mist itself. If the mist doesn't affect all senses, the mortals will realize something is off. Hazel also has control of metals to a greater extent than toph does. Hazel controls the metal itself and toph controls the impurities. So I think it's just where they fight. I agree in a traditional one-on-one fight toph would have more experience and probably would win. But if there is a high amount of metals especially precious metals like gold hazel will take the cake.

I gonna explain the mist and why it is super powerful because I’m bored sooo the mist is one of if not the most powerful ability in the Percy universe it is basically illusion casting and memory manipulation it doesn’t seem all that powerful but if you think about it illusion casting is just a weaker form of reality manipulation. Illusion casting is the power to manipulate people’s perception, or manipulating their senses of sight, smell, taste, hearing, and touch. Now the scary part is illusion casting can kill because pain isn’t just a physical sensation it’s a mental and emotional sensation as well and actually you brain feels the pain way quicker then your pain reactors because the brain sends the signal that’s why sometimes you hurt yourself and don’t feel it till you look at it. And not only that sever mental/emotional pain if strong enough can cause physical pain as well like headaches are usually caused by stress an emotional/mental sensation stress can even cause heart attacks and strokes if sever enough keeping that in mind imagine hazel is pissed and conjured a man with a gun you can see the man with the gun he shoots and you hear the bullet you can hear the gun shot you see the hole in your chest and even worse it now feels like there is a hole in your chest. She is tricking your brain into sending your pain reactors the signal that we just got shot we are dead now and now you are dead but not from the gun shot you are now brain dead. But mist manipulation is also manipulating memories and minds and perceptions so now I ask you what is reality. Reality to me is what I can see what I can hear now imagine being blind seeing nothing 24/7 they may have a different look on reality then you do. Now imagine if suddenly you couldn’t see anything, you can’t smell anything, you can’t hear anything, you can’t feel anything, you can’t even taste the saliva in your mouth, and you have no memory what’s so ever you and no one remembers you. You theoretically don’t exist and that’s why most manipulation is powerful
Holy moly what an explanation! You're correct though, however I don't think controlling all the senses would be easy but fully mastering it then....yea its broken, we can all agree that its broken 😂
I don't think that's how illusions work. If you got stabbed with an illusion sword, even if it left a fake wound, you wouldn't actually get hurt. You might feel the pain because of the placebo effect, but you wouldn't take any real damage because there's nothing actually there.
@@alexjewett7455 I know its a tricky question but I'm pretty sure Bluesavior is correct, because remember the rule is that if the individual or individuals believe what is shown is real, then it becomes real for a long as Hazel chooses. Its correct that technically the things she create aren't technically real but the power can hurt you as Pasiphae the sorceress created a giant trap for Hazel and Leo where they were getting hit by all kinds of spikes and stuff. Those traps weren't real but they still dealt damage because they believed that those traps were real and that it would hurt them. I know, this power is a real headache, welcome to the Riordanverse, everything here is hard to explain and understand! Also thanks for the rebuttal argument, these are great discussions!
@@ThatPJOGuy that's not how illusions work. Altering someone's perception is not the same as altering reality. And I don't think that's even a rule.
@@alexjewett7455 You're correct that's how illusions work. You're also correct in that it not being a definitive rule, its a ruling I put in place based on the given evidence in the text. Please understand that this is a fantasy story and not everything makes sense. Some things are not explained well leaving plot holes which leaves people like us having to find deeper meaning into these topics. The way I explained the mist is the best possible explanation from how the text had loosely described it, it isn't perfect but its the best we will get. Thanks for the comment!

Question.... What's the difference between Mist Manipulation and Magic? Because at first while I was reading the books, they sounded one in the same, but they're obviously different.... Right? Like Hazel can't do what Hecate or even Circe could do. Is spell casting even a thing in Percy Jackson? I know enchanting is, that's what children of Hecate usually are known for.

Great question! In retrospect it would have been smarter to combine the abilities but I was fixated on the idea that gems coming out of the ground at random was different then her choosing to do so. The books made it feel like separate entities, which they sort of are but as for its organizational qualities, I do indeed see it falls flat. I'm honestly just glad I didn't forget the ability though! Plus I think I liked the name of "gem uncontrol" just because it sounded stupid. You're welcome 😆

We haven’t really seen the full extent of her powers, not like Nico or Percy anyway. But Magneto is the master of magnetism, not just metals. Meaning that no, she can not go full on Magneto
